I replaced BUTTER with MAYO on steaks and this happened!

steak and butter were just made for each other when the butter hits the steak at the right time it leaves little particles of golden brown milk solids behind and that gets infused into the surface of the steak making it taste better however is basting steaks with mayo as good as butter well today we're running the steak experiment to find out there's a debate going on for decades bread with butter or Mayo is better I decided to go ahead and test that theory first I coated the bread with a good amount of butter followed by the Mayo toast them both up and I'll tell you one thing there's no comparison butter is much better but Mayo gets a better crust but will that be the same with steaks well for that I chose these three beautiful New York STP they are 1 and 1/2 in thick and should be perfect for today's experiment the first thing to do is to go ahead and get them seasoned I chose to do so with a good amount of salt Follow by freshly ground black pepper and garlic powder once they were fully seasoned I went ahead and bag them up vacuum seal them and they are now ready for Sev I'll be cooking all of them in the same container at 135° hi for 2 hours this will cook them to Perfection as that was happening was perfect because it allow me time to go ahead and make an awesome side dish and this one it's super simple and easy to make it is called egg Hoppers and here's how to do it into a bowl you want to combine 7 G of yeast followed by 1 cup of water mix everything well and this is ready on a separate Bowl I combine two cups of rice flour followed by 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1 cup of coconut milk mix everything well and combine those ingredients as then you want to add the previous one we just made mix it one once again and our batter is now ready this is the consistency we're looking for to make egg Hoppers you're going to be needing something like this a nice oval shaped pan I first started with a good amount of oil and with a preper tower spread it all around then once it was heated up I added one generous spoon of the batter now nice and slow I started to spin it around the key here is to get a nice thin layer of batter all the way around it's going to take a little bit of time to cook the batter and in the meantime I went ahead and threw one egg inside now you want to cover it up and steam the egg egg and after about 2 minutes since this is a non-stick pan it is super easy to go ahead and remove it to take it up a notch I went ahead and added some chili crisp followed by a little bit of scallion usually it's served just like this but I thought that bread was going to be a perfect combination to go along with it so I went ahead and toast it up some baguette followed by a little bit of olive oil right on top now this is what I'm talking about if you've never had egg Hoppers I highly recommend because they are delicious and I'm hoping the same thing will happen for today's experiment talking about that by this time my steaks were fully cooked so I went ahead took them out and set them down on a cooling rack and here's how this experiment is going to go down one of them we're going to be keeping a traditional the other one will be basted with butter Thyme and garlic and to put the Mayo to the test I'm doing the same exact thing but I'll be using the Mayo to base with it for that I combine a good amount of garlic followed by th and of course Mayo mixed everything well and that was ready and don't forget I'll also be using Thyme and garlic because now I know exactly what you're thinking my sticks don't look that good right now but watch [Music] this all right everybody and here we got our beautiful steak with a very nice and incredible side dish it is called egg Hoppers straight from Sri Lanka egg Hoppers from Sri Lanka what a mouthful of words never tried Sri Lankan food I know all the Sri Lankan friends already they're going to roast me because it's not done perfectly but I give my best shot everybody my best shot okay so we're crying over here what do you call this it's like a taco it's very thin no bro it's a hopper bro bad thing what is this though Hopper no don't touch it too much you're going to break it it's kind of cute okay with that being said we got a little experiment going on here I want your honest opinion we're going to start this direction here guys please dig in tender you guys know the rest it's great it is as good as it gets everybody perfect every time delicious there's not much to say about it without that being said I am super super curious about you guys next one are you ready why is that white don't worry about it you too much you too much dissecting it we're not going to be worried about that right now we're going to actually go to this one here please dig in oh damn a curve ball huh Goga mhm yes enough talking let's give it a try cheers everybody cheers that is really good you can really feel that traditional butter thyme garlic flavor that this steak has plus you get that s tenderness and Juice oh my God out of this world the basting everybody whenever you base it with butter by the way you are right on the money you know this is one of his favorite thing thyme butter garlic it is amazing would you guys agree 100% I let you guys go ahead and talk while I ate the whole thing there's no more over here no you're going to make some more right yeah yeah we'll make more but to make up for it I made a side dish so let's try from our friends from Sri Lanka you ever been to Sri Lanka no but I'd love to go I don't know about you guys but all I smell right now is sesame oil and I'm ready let's give this a go Ped Egg with bread first cheers everybody Cheers Cheers that's a little bit spicy you have that crunchiness from the bread that soft Rich egg yolk cream that's very flavorful really nice does it get better than this but now we try with the pancake egg Hopper enough talking let's give it a try cheers everybody Che cheers wow Dam that is spicy it is spicy this thing is spicy spy I'm a little bit of a masochist cuz even though it's really spicy it's so flavorful I just keep going for more bites yeah it's spicy everybody and usually you don't put the chili oil by the way that's just a goog style wait it's not even supposed to have chili oil no no no no normally the real one no this was amazing spicy definitely getting me to sweat with that being said enough talking let's go for the last steak because I'm excited please dig in let's do it enough talking let's give it a go cheers everybody Cheers Cheers Ooh Baby come on oh that's so different and I love better than I expected wow it's still tender and juicy and all that it still has a nice crust I just I can't pinpoint that flavor you know what I mean there's definitely an additional flavor here it's freaking delicious with the steak I think it's good but I don't know if I like it as much as this one here does it taste different 100% tastes different 100% it's different it's different it's different I'm going to have to say guys this last steak is my winner I'll tell you what so here's the deal this one here was based instead of butter with mayo straight up Mayo I'll be honest I thought this was is going to be quite disgusting when you're basting with the Mayo the Mayo stays behind and some does not dissolve everybody it's just not very appetizing I tell you that right now just when I thought steaks couldn't get any unhealthier Google goes ahead and Bas a steak and freaking Mayo yeah man I don't know I think I might have to go with the butter one just cuz dude I love the garlic butter in time it's like my favorite all time I enjoy it but the butter is better for me everybody they are all phenomenal you got to see
