I played 5 Wind Waker Clones you never heard of

wind wer is my favorite game of all time and ever since playing for the first time I've always wished that I could recapture the magic of that first playthrough but that got me thinking surely others must feel the same way and after doing some investigation I found extensive lists of Wind Waker like games where the developers have taken some form of inspiration from a franchise to varying degrees so I decided to try out five different wind Baker light games to see if any of them hold up as he truly hid in Gem and the games that I'll be checking out is smashi come home ocean horn Monsters of the Uncharted sea Chia windbound and little Gator game it's going to be an awesome time so sit back I hope you enjoy the video and that being said let's get right into it after a quick word from right so the first game is smosi come home now this game is not ocean based however from what I've been told it is a game that is heavily inspired by Wind Waker in terms of its atmospheres overall as well as how the actual gameplay is set up so let's get right into it and see how it is okay oh this is so cute let's go see our friends a he's playing a flute he reminds me of my car what's up little water well I'm glad they kept the slow swimming mechanics manual super swim oh yeah I can feel it we're building up that speed oh hello are you lost I'm very lost well where do you live I'm not quite sure but it's near a lake there isn't a lake around here but there is a river in one of the nearby forests maybe I'll lead you to a lake I know you've got what it takes so I want you to have these you got the tools of the Explorer did we just get the deu Leaf dude we literally just got the deu leaf with the magic meter nice I didn't even have to do like an early Forest Haven to get it hold on to surfaces by jumping onto them once hooked jump again oh nice also I've seen some people in chat say this I'm going to clarify this I tried to pick games that looked good so I'm not saying copycat in the terms of it's bad some of these games legitimately might be good games just because a game is inspired by another game does not mean it's bad basically every game is inspired by something at this point is this a rupe what is this maybe I could smash it with something any swords around here yo we got the sword yeah smash that thing nice so far I really like that it's obviously very inspired by Wind Waker and a Zelda game but it still is very unique do you know what I mean it doesn't feel like a straight up we try to make everything Zelda what a shame it looks like this is the only restored Shrine now what are shrines for these shrines bring us good luck it said that the right flower is plac in the center the forest will grant you luck and good fortune okay I never mind now what I expected when I heard Shrine dude there's so many NPCs oh what is this it looks like a berry if should go here excuse me can you please move food um no food here but you're kind of in the way then no well we better find a berry ooh it's this is a flower wait I think I can put this in a shrine yo you found a Spore of energy I feel a strong energy from within also it's sticky I don't know why it's sticky but this is cool we found one I like how it's basically instead of green rupes you pick up green like minerals I was just wondering if you've seen any blueberries around here I can't say I've seen any around here but you could always check the Crystal Caves but these pet vine showed up recently looks like nobody's getting through until those Vines get cut this is literally like the palm trees on Wind Waker where it's like you can't go up to the top until you found the sword anyone seen a grumpy old man we're looking for Orca oh ho ho another Apprentice come to learn the ways of the blade it's actually just straight up Orca I merely request green crystals in exchange oh man those green crystals Chad huh okay you found a blade of power holy crap that sword uh what is this it looks like a hand I don't know if anyone has asked for it wait maybe this maybe out here wait oh okay we need one more hand oh nice yo we got a shrine nice yeah I think I found the hands in unintentional order for sure I'm assuming these gets traded to something what's going on with these spores wow what was that hey wait a second my legs feel stronger the sports have empowered you hold RT to perform a brief Super Sprint that's so cool nice and I got a stamina wheel I'm glad that out of any game that they could have taken inspiration from instead of just doing Wind Waker I'm glad they went let's take an inspiration from sky sword something with the amam meter my favorite a blueberry could you by any chance give me one say 60 crystals I have 22 man why is everyone hungry for rupes in this game okay that is our third Shrine and we got a mushroom we got a purple augmentor craft skin for 12 purple crystals okay nice we got a new tunic we could also complete this Shrine right here Resto all flower shines nice let's go and talk to the flower girl and see if she says anything after I uh done all of them thank you for storing to shrines please take this with you it's a small token of my now I almost got all of them got a button wind dude this is really like a shrine this feels like a shrine to me all right let's see what's over here what what um oops yeah this is definitely the most like dungeon puzzle Shrine Vibe so far it looks like something is missing here like what like a battery or maybe a cable let's go looking lot of switches around here oh we found a cable nice I think that's what we're looking for there we go oh that is a big boy there we go what the hell what am I supposed to do with this seven link is seven coincidence I think not wait maybe I can roll it down this game is that it's fun which is a good thing I guess but it's also bad because I'm supposed to get through five games and I was thinking of only playing each game for like an hour but this game has been fun so I just keep playing well that was a really good game I don't think I'm going to take the time to beat every single other game that's coming up but that was a lot of fun let's move on to game number two and check out how that one holds up against windmaker all right let's get into the next one this one is called ocean horn which I've heard is a little bit more Wind Waker like compared to the last one when it comes to the ocean the characters boats stuff like that I don't really know anything about this game so let's get right into it and see how it is wake up the time has come it really just is Zelda wake up why does every Zelda game start with link sleeping he even has like the same tuna color as the pajamas in the beginning of Wind Waker but then his design looks a bit like breath of the wild link okay this one is definitely a lot more Zelda already this gives to be huge links Awakening switch Vibes already I wonder what games they got inspiration from oh look an octo sorry I mean bug enemy dude it is literally just Zelda enemies that that's literally just um a spiky choo choo thank you that's what I was thinking of push objects with the action button all right let's open the chest you got a regular key is it just me or is it kind of ear how there's like no music right now wait is that an item our first item you can pick up many kinds of things oh can I put like the rock on it I see what I have to do you got back your mother's necklace nice we got a magical pendant and we got the father sword and shield nice all right let's head out see a block back here are you kidding me I can't swim you found your father's sword and shield how did you get your hands on them follow me I have a story to tell you this is like literally like the opening L of people it's going to be three emblems okay Doritos the emblem of ocean the Zoras first you should go and talk to people on T Carl Island take this key it opens the door to the pier where your boat is kept God speed oh my God it's literally king or Red Lions can you hear me kid it's me hermit I can talk to you through the mysterious seashells hey we got the gossip Stone unfortunately I haven't been able to learn how to manual suum yet so we do have to go in the boat challenges move crates and other objects 100 times protect man they really don't stay for a long time aren't bombs just wonderful you can use them to open New Paths and blow up blocking objects you can buy them from Bomb b if you have a chance okay oh I'm happy to Captain knew a small place before he called it sandar I was able to gather strength I do like that just by hearing an island I can go to it that is nice oh I need bombs to get in here let me go back to my boat all right let's go to bomb bile yeah I just heard that this is where you got bombs and I immediately went ooh I want to get bombs visit the bomb Maker's house to buy bombs you got it all right I many bombs to sell I ran out of gunpowder when miners disappeared you could find some bombs from abandoned mines nearby yes sir sir I agree I think one thing that is a little bit strange is definitely the perspective it feels like it wants to be both a 3D game and a 2d one at the same time you know what I mean and I'm not saying that out of the fact that it's a 2.5d graphics I'm saying in terms so that like the camera keeps changing between a 3D perspective and an over thehead one here's the caves he talked about that I needed to go to what that's so unfair are you kidding me take me back up there dude yeah that's right you go down there and see how it feels lost to a goblin hey it's not my fault okay this is a very hard game okay oh we got old boots you found coin inside it nice can I equip those nope it was just to give me coins okay that feels a bit like a debate I locked the door the fire puzzle is enough to keep the key safe fire puzzle you say huh did you just light the four or is there order to them okay nice oh my God that is so bright you found the master key thanks okay let's use the master key oh boy this looks like a boss room if I ever seen one [Applause] uh-oh I just tanked it dude nice little mini boss you are way far you got a pumpkin seed gun for your boat nice oh is this it yo let's go we got bombs can I like break boxes with it nice oh we're going to get a piece of heartart or something you found a rare seashell you can have five coins for it what the hell man why does this give me five coins at that point why bother giving me a special item if it just trades to rupes okay chat let's head to the next Island oh yeah wait we have the gun now oh my God oh I love America yeah I think so far the worst part about this game is honestly the music not that the music is necessarily bad it's just too generic does that make sense it is literally like if you would have put into an AI make me video game music then it spit out this like 2 minute tune and it put it on Loop watch out for goblins and ogres oh no Shrek you out there okay I need to get that barrel down right here or this Barrel sorry this box cuz it looks like I need two of those to unlock the bars that is keeping that guy into prison so let's save him going to push this down there we go making friends release the prisoner yay what's the look in your face never seen an U before Oh this is Doritos come to see me on the other side of the desert I'm at my Hideout if you're a bird why does he run who we just got shaders all of a sudden there we go thank you for saving me from the D Camp I'm sorry to leave so fast are you telling me you are searching for the emblem of Earth travel to Great Forest the great forest all right let's head to that Island it sounds like we're finally going to be able to find our first dungeon all right we are officially coming up to the first dungeon SL Temple let's see for now it is basically just the same as before but hopefully that will change okay let's push this block here let's keep going through the forest I think so far one thing I'm not a huge fan of is that every single puzzle is basically just push a block you know what I mean there hasn't been any special bosses no special challenges no special anything it's literally just push a block a skeleton with a key oh my goodness a mini boss that might have been the easiest mini boss I have ever seen it was four slashes with a sword oh [ __ ] oh it's like the gudo woo we did it what the hell I know I kept complaining that there's no like mini bosses or anything other than like pushing blocks puzzles around this game but I don't know if that was much better okay that's the puzzle into dungeon okay here we go let's see this dungeon Forest Shrine outside it sounds like Temple of Time music do you know what I mean okay oh wait but I can't swim oh now I can swim in the ocean you insta drown and literally die but in the caves you can swim of course we got a regular key all right let's swim back what is this door here oh this is like where I go with the small key oh my god oh that was bright okay a real mini boss here we go turmos arm okay well that was quite the mini boss and we get the bow and arrows nice okay let's go beat the dungeon chat all right here we go evil overgrowth turmos I supposed to kill all the arms first okay oh damn it that was actually as my bad there we go is he dead nice we did it woo okay anyways Chad I think that is enough for ocean horn my final conclusion I give it a five out of 10 it's not bad in any means but there's nothing really exciting about it all the puzzles and enemies are just super stale if you want to play a Wind Waker Game in kind of a 2.5d perspective go play Phantom irog glass nowadays they even have a controller mod so you can play with a controller go play it that being said let's move on to the next one which hopefully should be better than this one all right the next game we're going to be checking out is called Chia now to my understanding this one has a lot of kind of ocean and Wind Waker Vibes to it and it is the only game on this list that is also a brand new released game cuz I wanted to include at least one more racing games because there's a lot of others on this list that are older so that being said let's check it out and see how it holds up against windmaker well we definitely got the the oan vibe going on in this game I do think this game is very pretty can you swim good question yes we can true we got to try out super swimming Chad I don't think I'm building any speed all right let's head over to the cliff to see our dad always got to go through the tutorials hi Dad hey we got the glider nice the deu leaf has been obtained hell yeah look at that this might be a new world record honestly dog what wait did I actually have a prompt to choose to Stow it there's no way okay I got to try this holy [ __ ] I'm just going to drop him I feel bad it is kind of powerful of a backpack you know what this is definitely very Zelda like though have you guys ever thought about about how link can store all of those items just like anything and everything and is just no problem whatsoever I'm glad to see that it's not just in that game okay hi a whoa this is a tall house why do I sleep up here you've been followed oh no no oh not all the pollution oh no what are those like robots lizard thingies [Music] what what what what just happened whoa I'm on like a boat Island oh I think we're about to start playing oh we got a boat oh I think we're getting into it finally wait does that mean I get the [Music] boat yes unlock Melody show Melody's list play Melody set the time to midnight with the instrument wait it's like song of passing you can do random outfit for a song too that's so fun okay chat let's go get that boat here we go we got our boat and now there's just us in the ocean this is a shockingly fast boat for not having a motor all right let's do this see you let's do it chat wait what is this city like thing over here I'm supposed to be on island can I just go and start a exploring dog let's pet him already 10 out of 10 game now let's throw him okay there's supposed to be a campfire near here there it is there's the campfire oh W seems like we have some superpowers Soul jump Soul jumping lets you warp into surrounding objects or animals to use their abilities at your advantage that's so cool I'm a coconut whoa that was a far oh God sorry sorry little bit like Super Mario Odyssey vibe in this huh aim perform Soul throw that's cool is that puberty yeah let's go with that nice okay I think we finally are for you to start roaming around and playing can I control a crab you think that's so cool what about that chicken oh I'm a dove holy crap I could even fly I like how my only option is poop are you kidding me dude this is like when you get like a pear in Wind Maker you know and you can like control the seagull although they did not give you the option to poop I'm going to be honest what happens if he runs out okay nice oh there's enemies here I have to burn the soldiers oh wait oh ignite oh that's so cool that's so clever instead of giving you a weapon you can take control of things there we go nice yeah I like how the main enemies are like paper or fabric monsters this is a a huge island for sure and this is just one of the islands I like how I can dig I'm sure there are some spots where I can like dig a spot to find something you know what I mean this is a really cool mechanic that you can take control over things this is going to be a hot take I think this is better done captur mechanic than Mario Odyssey this has like a strong wind Baker vibe to it but then like the capture mechanic is very Odyssey like but I think you more options a deer wee oh my God what's happening what was that bounce okay I need to burn all the soldiers there we go Soldier Camp cleared nice okay now when I'm not fighting I can actually look what is the loot I get here a chest I got a long sleev shirt nice and I got a cloth you know what let's try there was one song I have on my instrument that's kind of funny hold on let's try it we had a song random outfit [Music] oh dude I'm so cool is there no fall damage ouch okay they're kind of sort of as you can still Leaf pump to maintain your stamina that's good oh no you got to make sure you're Landing right because if you're not Landing right then you kind of just stumble over wait could I be a fish I need to know turtle oh we can I'm literally a turtle right now A the flower stays that's so cute I want to go up to that what is that a shark a dolphin something like that I want to go up to that hold on I'm a dolphin holy crap can you swim fast that's so cool I like how it's not like you can only like control what you're using each thing has its own like abilities and strengths and weaknesses do you know what I mean speedr running this game would be really cool cuz it seems like there's a lot of kind of movement Buffs that you can get from different things around the world so I definitely and there like the bouncing mechanic seems abusable for sure okay here's a dock that's good spawn boat that's what I want yes oh yeah we can customize the boat let's go with red you know why chat okay what a pretty game it's like I'm sailing the oceans of Hy roll well I think this is a good place to end it now we got the full exploration I would rank this game solid eight out of 10 if you want the exploration of ocean of the Wind Waker with a boat tons of things to customize and you want a cool capturing ability kind of like Odyssey but even more like top level where you can capture anything and do anything you want I would recommend this game it looks super cool and the developer seem super cool so on to the next one and let's hope this next one is as good as this one now next up is windbound now what I've heard from this game is that it's kind of like an open world exploration in an ocean like Wind Waker mixed with a little bit of material and craft ing bre of the wild sprank Ginder so that being said let's get right into it and see how windbound is hello dude I already died and I'm not even 10 seconds in I'm not even past the intro is it just me or does her design remind you of like the Chica look in breath of the wild tears of the Kingdom wao what is that portal oh did I just like come back from the dead oh thick grass okay okay press R2 to bring up the inventory and crafting menu rope made from grass okay nice wait there's some enemies over there oh we got them [Music] now there we go we got the skin and we got some raw meat okay let's go over here this looks sus nice we got a paddle uh crafting menu to select the boat parts the basic grass and string hole weak and flimy this is a shitty boat but it will do well we already got a boat and we're only 5 minutes in so I think that is good progress so far I would die on that boat I think I can speak for the entire twitch chat when I say we all would can I climb cannot climb you can grab up a ledge though are you kidding me that's fall damage what is this okay that looks so much like when you beat a shrine okay we got a rune nice uh let's go to that Island over there man this is a slow boat hold on let me test something nope still no manual super swim once we can get a sail this will be much faster I hope so okay we got another Tower over here wait is that another person there I'm not alone wait where did they go wait what press B just before an incoming blow lands to Parry the attack be careful not every attack can be parried uh-oh I tried to press spe to Parry it didn't work oh God I got The High Ground it's over Anakin that's what I thought that's what Anakin should have done all right let's climb up here and get our second tower two out of three the shell spirits of the sea gives us life our hearts beat in harmony a broad sturdy Leaf nice I wonder if that can be used for a sail or something okay oh thank goodness now this is what I'm familiar with this is what we've been waiting for okay let's go up here wait we've already been here this is the one we've already been to oops we got to go to another that was the craziest fall damage scream I've ever heard dude I need a wind waker to change the wind direction this wind Direction sucks okay we found weird fish Island Stone thingy let's check it out nice cinematic camera angles all right here we go let's see what happens also is it's so quiet okay let's go into this secret cave thingy that looks like a huge mouth of a fish let's get some lure whoa okay oh here comes the lore the first Crossing rejection okay is that it I'm sure I'm going to unlock more as I go on it's just kind of a weird starting lore all right let's sail down here what is that thing over there oh it's a glowing portal like the one when I woke up in this game okay let's enter this incredibly bright flashbang like portal my goodness is it bright chapter 2 The Great Famine all we're coming up in our first actual Island oh no I see another Tower here the trees are pretty I wonder if I have enough to make an axxe I don't have enough space for a bamboo let me go to the tower first maybe I'll get more inventory space or something can you make a bag perhaps link to get more inventory space excellent question I look into that right after this I'm scared that this is literally what the game is craft some things for fun but then just go from Island to Island to like unlock more terminals to get more lure oh I can make a thing for my boat to store items oh I can make this too wait a palm bag okay so now I can get bamboo stronger material nice I also want to go back up there and get those bones so I can make an axe okay let's try and craft something I want to make an axe so I need leather I have animal skin but not leather and a jaw I don't have that gor horned crust don't have that either okay let's make a proper sale here now it's starting to look a little bit more like a boat oh yeah look at that we got like a proper full out sail now oh boy still got to go against the wind though huh I don't want to be rude to the dabs but can I say something this is one of those games where I feel like the game developers had an idea in mind where it's like we would love to make a game in the ocean and they make that game and then the game play is the second thing they make does that make sense and it kind of becomes Barren there is no purpose for me to pick this up I can just run up here get the terminal and go to the next place get the terminal go to the next place the game has not given me a reason to want to do more things and want to explore and I think that's where the game design is missing to put it better does that make sense let's try and make a weapon to take down this enemy in front of us what is this AI what is happening I almost feel bad at this point wait did he did the AI notice me no way oh my God he noticed me I'm scared cuz I have like one HP no I was trying to eat I did not mean to press that why am I back here oh no wait no way it restarts the entire chapter if you die are you kidding me I get to keep the upgrade to the boat and that's basically it okay I want revenge on this guy oh this game okay let me make a spear instead hold on let me try and make a spear okay now at least I can reach attacking him when I dodge something unlike last time there we go okay what do we get from that we got a bunch of stuff I can't carry awesome well hey at least we beat the hard enemy well I think that's going to be it for windbound here is my conclusion honestly I'd give this game a three or four out of 10 if what you're looking for is exploring the ocean with a slow boat if you like the S out of 10 too much water this game is for you but if you want game play and puzzles I would stay away personally but that's just my take if you're someone who likes sit down and just play a very slow paced chill game like this that maybe this game is for real but that being said let's head on to the next one and check out what it has to offer all right now next up is litter Gator game now this game I've heard is just a really cute game it's heavily inspired by Wind Waker and Zelda in general and it's made by an incredible development team called platonic so that being said let's get right into it a he's so cute big sis big sis what are you doing just looking at an article for that Legend of hero game puzzles Monsters the usual windmaker how hard even is it to be a legendary hero anyways you just need a sword and a shield and a hat okay wait that is literally a green fairy dude that's Navi do you see that feels just like yesterday huh kind of makes you want to jump in and do it all over again doesn't it well I really have to finish this group assignment you're amazing big sis one little assignment is nothing you'll finish this thing before we even know it I believe in you 100% the ocean and now she'll never finish it in a million years tell me she at least looked at the decorations those took forever to put up not even a peak but thanks guys for trying we can make monsters and treasures all day long but we can't play the game for her that's it I'll play the game for her right now all this stuff we made is just loose carpet laying around empty pots oh my God that is literally the Wind Maker design of of a pot look at it we need to put it all to use a legendary hero an Epic Quest we have to show her what she's missing each of you will make a quest for me to complete and reward me with one of the hero's items I'll do the quest become the hero and win over big sis I kind of want to start with the sword you Hero please you must help these vile creatures have attacked me a defenseless NPC please you must retrieve the sword and save me all right let's go get the sword chat yay the magical special sword it's it's a stick quick I have to defeat these enemies and help Jill I can't believe we got our stick chat help I'm surrounded he's literally studying help is that all of them Sis Sis check it out I found a special sword in the forest and a rescue Jill from Scary Monsters very cool don't break anything she loved it I don't know if that's the Vibe by God I hope I get a sword upgrade because my sword ain't the prettiest right now you got this link are you sure yourself super swimmed ragd doll nice it only took us 5 minutes to figure out super swimming that's what I'm talking about that's so cool though I like that we found some speed Tech already I do kind okay if you Le the way I'll talk to him sorry Romeo Season 3 still isn't my favorite but I shouldn't have said those unspeakable things about it well okay I know Season 3 isn't that everyone's taste at least we can agree the season 2 is superior to season 1 totally the fight in that one are the best the whole drama was about an anime okay well I made three new friends Chad I'm making so many friends I have more friends in this game at this point than I actually do in real life I don't know if that's sad or not let's look at all the other hats that I've unlocked I think I've unlocked some new hats we got a space Dome wo that looks scary that does not fit my crocodile head we got a princess hat nice and we got a ninja headband oh my God look at my running animation oh that's such a cool detail Naruto I think it's really cool that it's not only like heavily inspired by like Wind Waker and Zelda in general but it has like things from all games and even movies you know what I mean like it is like a lot of things in one hey traveler I set my things down what is it called I set down my green wheelie thing right here and now I can't find it anywhere we're hanging out around here could you help me keep an eye on for it a green wheelie thingy hey there's the green wheelie thingy it's all busted up though yeah let's fix for him who that's so cool I'm sick with it here we go found it the bottom thank you traveler now I can slide on Hills faster than ever here take this you're in it aw he gave me one blue a that's so cute hi Flint want to make some stuff go boom absolutely I wish more people said hello like that Feast Riz on this a bowling bomb get onto the spot right there and I'll lay out some targets for you to blow up oh boy I'm so ready I've never been more disappointed in my life I really thought it was actually going to explode don't you have to fire them oh I can press it again to explode them oops I do think this game is really cute but I got to say I'm starting to feel like it's a little bit repetitive do you know what I mean you talk to a person you have like a a 10c quest around them and then you kind of move on to the next thing well I think this is a good place to end it without spoiling the whole game final conclusion I would give this game a 6 and 1 half or seven out of 10 it is very Charming it is adorable it has tons of different customizations that you can unlock which I think are amazing however for my taste I do think it's a little bit too easy so I think this is really good for kids or if you're the type of gamer that loves a game like Animal Crossing you know what I mean like the sit down just relax and play for an hour and pick it up the next day I think for that it's an incredible game but if you want like something you know where you can kind of grind it out or you want to have a challenge I don't think this is the game for me but anyways that's little Gator game but that being said I hope you enjoyed the video all of these games honestly stood up much better on the own than I originally thought so I really recommend you to check them out if any of them seemed interesting to you but being said
