I Opened 1,000 Chests So You Don't Have To: Best Exotic Class Item Farm | Destiny 2 The Final Shape

since the release of the Exotic class items people have been complaining about how the mission requires two Guardians and how you need to do the mission to efficiently Farm These Exotics the latter is not exactly true I spent my week opening 1,000 pale heart chests to get an accurate figure on the drop rate so I can arm you with the necessary tools and information to make your farming better to cut to the chase the drop rate is 2% so 1 in 50 chests and that's any chest you open in the pale heart once you've unlocked the Exotic class item on that character so random patrol chests overthrow chests high value targets you name it even the chests while doing the special Co-op missions if you were in the pale heart and open a chest the Exotic can drop additionally all chests are created equal when looking at the ghost vender it states it is a rare chance with any chest in the pale heart it doesn't mention any RNG section or increase odds from higher Rarity chests and that matches my findings as well so to optimally farm just the Exotic class item you're after opening the greatest number of chests in the least amount of time or run dual Destiny so let's compare the two now the best chest Farm is in the landing since it is a wide open space and easy to navigate with a sparrow to easily spot the chests make sure you have the Wombo detector tracking Mod on your ghost to see chests within 50 50 m you can push out that Distance by also zooming in with a sniper but that isn't necessary if you just repeat the same simple route when you enter a landing Zone in the pale heart it takes about 30 seconds for all the chests to spawn in you'll know that they've spawned when your screen gets a few shakes and flashes of light or if you are zoomed in with your sniper and see the chest icons then just go on a simple loop I just take a clockwise path around the landing once you do this a few times you'll know where all the potential chest spawns are and how they behave for this if you have an eager edge sword mountain top and a skimmer these will help you better navigate the landscape these tools though aren't at all necessary but they do help once you complete a loop and grabbed around four or five chests you need to reload The Zone this you have three options one if you have the skimmer and want to change of scenery you can load into the impass area and grab the chests there you can do a similar Loop in a similar time but due to Geometry having more advanced move in Tech makes it much easier two you can go to the impass and then immediately teleport back to The Landing since you are reloading the instance the chest will respawn after about 30 seconds three go to orbit and then teleport back to The Landing based on your internet this is possibly the slowest option so bouncing back and forth between other patrol zones is the best if performed optimally this should net you about five chests in about 1 minute of running around and then 1 minute to account for reloading whatever area you are in five chests per 2 minutes so 50 chests in 20 so in 20 minutes you should get an exotic class item in contrast looking at the Dual Destiny Mission depending on skill and familiarity it'll take 20 minutes on the low end to around 35 on the high end that means the mission is less efficient right well there are a couple of caveats one chest farming relies on RNG while in the long run it'll average a drop every 50 chests when looking at a particular farming session it could be drastically different you can get one every 30 chests 90 chests or none at all completing the Exotic Mission no matter how slow is still a path to a guaranteed exotic class item no RNG involved two at the time this video goes live there is an exploit to get two class items per run of dual Destiny I don't like bringing up loot exploits but I would be remiss and flamed in the comments if I didn't do so basically if your fire team is comprised of the same character class grab the same item at the same time and then join allies at the same time the mission won't end and you can both grab the other class item on the pedestal I'll have a better guide Linked In the description because of this dual Destiny is even better for class item farming however even without that exploit dual Destiny will still be the best farm and this will always be the case it's a deterministic path that's skill dependent with a guaranteed drop but that doesn't mean solo players should be complaining all you have to do is unlock the mission one time which can be done 100% solo and then complete the mission one time per character after that you never have to run it again to farm class items and as you saw at the beginning it's a 2% drop rate from chests a drop every 20 minutes you don't even have to start the final shape campaign to load into the mission on alt characters just as long as your other member has access to the mission and you're of a sufficient power level you're good then once you unlock the pale heart Patrol area you can Farm on that character so go out there and do the mission just one time it's worth it and maybe this will be what gets you to try other aspects of the game that also requires larger fire teams GMS raids and dungeons all in all Farm how you like have time just by yourself then do chest Loops in the landing have a butt online and want some guaranteed drops then do dual Destiny if you care about more loot like deepside weapons engrams and ero suum then do the daily selected overthrow not as efficient for just getting class items but your
