My Mechanics is in my opinion the standard for restoration videos on YouTube.
There's a tiny pocket of highly compressed air in that ball that will stay sealed in there for a long, long time. That thing's not just an 8 ball, it's an atmospheric time capsule.
If I tried this, there would be a lot more swearing, a damn sight more random pieces of metal firing out of their position, the 8 would look more like a fat Homer Simpson, and there wouldn't be two parts of the ball of equal depth, texture or shininess.
That's if I didn't burn myself heating the metal and then stupidly picking it up, of course.
That would have made a nice buttplug but you ruined it.
Man, I feel like I need to make a playlist of these videos and play it on loud from my workshop when I don't have any projects going on. The sounds are just great and it would make me sound busy as fuck.
I have to say, using the boring head on the mill while indexing the part along that skewed axis to create the OD was really clever. Not a solution I would have come up with.
I'm going to assume this isn't something for r/DIY so I'll have to settle on buying one
Are you supposed to use you mill to bang one metal part into another metal part? I donβt know a lot, but that seems like the kind of thing a shop teacher gives you a paddlinβ for.
(Referencing around the 3 min mark.)
Looks like it was almost a doorknob :)
