I've made a 24-hour pack a 10 minute pack and even a 10 second pack but what would it look like if I spent seven months on a texture pack [Music] it's pain it's a it's a lot of pain okay so it's 1am on a Thursday and I'm currently reading through a Marketplace pack contract you know a typical Thursday now as it says here this contract would allow me to release a Marketplace pack on the marketplace uh go figure which is a a pretty big deal for me you know one begin I did find though while a reading through is that in order to make the pack I need to change every single texture in the game uh or which includes mobs blocks and items and you know I don't I don't know if I'm up for that I mean that's a lot of work I could you know I could end up working on this for like seven months how am I kidding I'm gonna sign this first I needed a theme for my pack I needed something the marketplace hadn't experienced yet now some familiar with the marketplace will know that's a very competitive space for texture packs so how did I plan to stand out from the crowd by making my pack pvpr it said yeah you already know the diligent Observer will know that the marketplace already has some PVP packs but let's be honest half of them look like plastic and the other half look like my packs from three years ago so the mission is make a pack that stands out we want higher quality more consistency better functionality this is important I'll come back to this later but we don't want it to stand out too much I don't need to make my pack Egyptian themed to get people's attention now the only thing left is a name for this project and uh imma call this uh hold up hmm no no no no [Music] yeah that'll do the hardest thing to tackle when making a PVP pack is how to make things functional but also aesthetically playful a good example is the inventory screen you won't see Minecraft's default inventory screen in most PVP packs because it Blocks Your Vision completely making it fully transparent would be the most functional solution but that doesn't look cool so you have to settle for something in between something flavorful and spicy and cool another example of this are Minecraft swords the sword in Minecraft is too big period it covers up way too much of your screen I mean imagine holding the sword somebody could sneak up on you behind the sword and you wouldn't be able to see it so the solution is you make the blade smaller right wait wait now the proportions aren't right because the cross card is too big so you make the cross card smaller and I bet somebody in the comments is gonna say but Christ I really like that big cross card design it looks so super good can't you keep no now for me PVP packs aren't just about transparent inventories small swords and outline ores it's also about the blocks I usually make around 200 custom blocks for every pack I release that includes Stone stuff oras planks grass sand and wool but that's nowhere near the 1000 blocks I need to make in order for this pack to qualify as a Marketplace pack I needed texture blocks you've never even thought existed let alone scene in game so in order to work more effectively I did have to learn to uh cut some Corners shall we say as I showcase my corner cutting skills I want the viewer to play a game here which of these four blocks is not using this concrete powder texture options one two three and four you'd be wrong because I use the concrete powder block for all of these what happened was that while making the powder texture I realized that this looks kind of similar to the sand texture now normally I would have definitely made a unique texture for a block as common and important as sand but I ended up liking the powder so much that I felt it would be a crime not to use it for something else and that's also when I tried it for the gravel and the grass and the third and mycelium and hold up I know what you're thinking this guy's lazy but I didn't reuse textures when it didn't make sense okay that's my excuse and even when I did I made sure to change him in a way that would make them fit in naturally with other blocks and that's a hard thing making a new texture fit in with all the other existing blocks that you've made or even blocks that you haven't made yet is really hard and requires a you know a lot of play testing a wink wink not but for real I wasn't play testing to burn time only maybe a couple dozen dozen hours I was generally trying to figure out whether or not the texture would work with its surroundings and sometimes well well you just can't figure it out okay so I've been working on I will textures for the past couple hours now a lot of them because I have a a problem I can't figure out I I use this wool texture right here at the very start when I started making the texture pack this is not my wool texture but I put it there as a placeholder I like the look of it so I kept it and sort of made textures around it but the problem is now that now that I'm trying to replace it with my own texture I can't seem to make it work specifically this will just won't match with the concrete powder I never go to a certain Lobby on the hive where you can see red wool and the red concrete powder they just don't fit as I'm specifically pointing out this texture because this is a texture I really like like I genuinely really like I'm really proud of but it just it doesn't work with this pack and I'm really I'm really annoyed by that but lucky for me Annoying doesn't last very long I think it was a day after I was on the verge of giving up after another session of attempting to make it somehow work and then it just hit me I was just mindlessly clicking around doing nothing fancy again I was in this giving up mindset until my brain woke me up and said hold up wait this this kind of looks like something let me Focus here I finished the texture joined the server joined the game and then see if it actually looks good and I think dude oh this looks so good also when I show this to a friend he said that it it felt like an Egyptian style wall which is pretty funny considering uh that's that's obviously the theme I was trying to go for but the world wasn't the last thing I had left to do towards the end of the pack making process I talked myself into making something uh unique let's say for the menu background almost all of my packs have some sort of with a Galaxy sky as a panorama but for this pack I wanted to build a map and turn that into a background and for this project instead of cutting Corners I chose the path of most resistance I wanted to build it all on my own in a creative flat world on bedrock with no world edit I also thought it'd be cool if I recorded the whole build process to create like a cool Montage but because I built for so long a recording software kept crashing on me it's a miracle you're even seeing some of the footage on screen but my recording software wasn't the only thing causing me trouble my uh building Pace was also causing me trouble I was working so slow that I decided to ask some friends if they wanted to help me out and after a couple days of some epic collaborating we finished with something really beautiful artistic amazing all I had to do now was to send it to somebody that could help me turn it into a background and then I'd be done the The World Is Gone uh the uh The World Is Gone I uh I was I was about to send it over to uh to to to my guide it's not there anymore apparently what happened was that I had my Minecraft open when I plugged my PC cable out of my computer it was explained to me that this is a very harmful way of shutting down your PC the in-game folder for the world was there but as it turned out it was corrupted which is why it never showed up on my world list this was probably the worst I had felt during the entire pack making process as I had been very careful up to that point to save and back up all my files in case something bad happened when I did end up building it all over again which I I did we decided to go on a Java server that had better compatibility that way we could use world edit which made the building process so much faster as allowed for copy and pasting moving around and a bunch of other useful tools that you don't have a default vanilla better off it also just looks a lot better as well like no complaints here the visuals are fantastic thanks to Java shaders well working on the Panorama I also finished the UI which is something that is always very important for me because it helps my pack stand out from often generic PVP packs I had also finished the entities and pretty much everything else about the pack all I had to do now was to send it in and watch as it got accepted I missed 100 textures but now sure that the pack will be done I missed another 100 textures the pack is done now right what do you mean yeah the review stage went a a couple of of rounds luckily that last time it was just files I had to delete and a new update I had now as you probably heard I was pretty drained already from all the stuff I had to do with the marketplace pack but as soon as I heard that my Marketplace pack got accepted and it was releasing today today it's releasing today you really can't be tired and the close of this video I want to give future me some space to kind of talk about these experience and what I've learned over these uh seven months dude my mic stand broke yesterday and I've had to hold my mic for like hours and calls and stuff and my arm kind of hurts now I have a new appreciation for mic stands they're awesome I really need one so my Marketplace pack released two days ago uh which shows how on time this video is you know what I'm not complaining I'm really not you know why because it's been awesome hearing all the comments I've gotten from people who've tried the pack specifically friends they're super happy for me they've tried the pack they love it it's been it's been awesome having it's been really validating this has been probably one of one of the best couple of days I've had all year speaking of time uh that's not a good transition I've been thinking a lot about what I did to to get here to get in this position and I have uh no clue I've been trying to figure out what I did four years ago I was just some kid that you know did average kid things I was not I am not special I was not special and I am not special and I am extremely extremely grateful to be in this position I I really am this has been absolutely overwhelming and I think one of the reasons why I feel so overwhelming is that I don't I don't want to do YouTube for you know my entire life or even for the next three two years I I don't know how long I want to keep doing this just knowing that I've I've made one Marketplace pack and knowing everything else I've done with this channel it's been it's been awesome I have no idea how I've gotten to this point but I'm very happy I have try the pack it's really good I think so a lot of people think so um thank you so much for supporting my channel to this point for getting me into position where I can do something like this you guys are awesome um hope you enjoy this video like subscribe watch the video on screen that's on screen right now it's a great video and unless you need to buy the marketplace pack do that
