so it physically pains me to have to make this video on a day-to-day basis when it comes to Minecraft anyways one of my favorite things to do is to explore the realm of the obscure and the unknown and discover previously hidden details about the game to share with all of you and on my quest for knowledge recently I decided to fire up the old in dev versions of Minecraft to see if I had a very specific version of the game where a new spawn inside of a cobblestone hut that had chests containing every item and block that existed in the game at the time and as it turns out I do have that version but then after about two to three minutes my computer locked up and when I say locked up I mean it no amount of key combinations or anything else I did would bring my system back to life aside from hitting the reset button on my computer tower and after days of intricate research countless testing and countless crashes I arrived at the conclusion that so long as this problem exists I can never properly play Minecraft classic again I'm making this video in the hopes that this problem gets resolved so let's go ahead and let's check it out [Music] so let's start from the very beginning I'm playing Minecraft in dev and my computer locks up I restart my computer try again and it locks up again when dealing with system lock ups within Windows one of the first things to do in order to diagnose a problem is to check a diagnostic tool built into Windows called the Event Viewer when your computer has any sort of problem it should get reported here but there was nothing relevant to the problem that I was having listed here at all this was about the moment where I asked Twitter for advice but nobody who I got replies from had dealt with this exact issue so I had to dig much deeper after discovering that this problem occurs on multiple graphics cards I asked a Java developer friend of mine luca von who's helped out the channel many times in the past what I could do to potentially diagnose this problem the first thing that he tried to do was replicate my problem to see if minecraft classic and in dev also locked up on his system like me he's also running Windows 10 and a Nvidia graphics card with the latest drivers installed and within about 5 minutes his system also locked up as well what that tells me is this could wind up being a much bigger problem than I initially expected so to set up some context the computer that was locking up was a computer tower but I also have a laptop that I can work with as well Luca Vaughn's first suggestion to me given everything that we had already tried was for me to try and ping my locked up computer from my laptop to see if my locked up computer was still responsive but just not displaying anything on my screens into my amazement it was responsive the pings from my laptop to my computer tower did not fail so next up I tried something a little bit odd before I fired up minecraft classic on my main computer I fired up a minecraft 1.13 point 2 server and joined it on my laptop to see if the server would die when my main computer locked up from minecraft classic and again to my amazement this server didn't die I could place blocks from my laptop low do chunks and everything keep in mind this server is being hosted from a computer that is now locked up I even ran a command to kick the host out of the game killing the server in the process to see if the changes would even save to the hard drive of my locked up computer once again I restarted the computer that was locked up and yes the changes did save so ah right if all of that went a little bit fast let's recap so my main computer locks up when attempting to play minecraft classic and in dev while the system is locked up nothing besides the network cable that's plugged into the system seems to work such as my mouse and keyboard and any of my monitors whatever image is on my screens is frozen in place so to me what's happening is when minecraft classic and in dev crash it crashes in such a way that not only crashes OpenGL but also crashes nvidia x' display drivers which in turn causes the graphics card itself to panic another thing that i tried in order to diagnose this issue was run TeamViewer on both my main PC and my laptop to see if I could control my main PC while it was locked up but I couldn't and this makes some sense if the graphics card is technically disconnected then it wouldn't be able to render my screens at all so why am I making this video well first off this video is not calling out any one specific company it's not calling out Microsoft nor Nvidia nor Mozang because I don't actually know who's at fault here I've heard that this issue started with the latest Windows 10 update and this would honestly make the most sense to me because I had not tried to run minecraft classic since Windows 10 installed update 1809 but I don't actually know for sure I tried reinstalling my graphics card multiple times using a program called display driver uninstaller I tried an entirely different graphics card and I tried various different java arguments with Minecraft sure to get the crashing to stop but nothing worked I even had a report from someone else who wasn't even using a Nvidia graphics card to begin with but rather an Intel CPU with integrated graphics and they to experience the same crash that I did I did plan on emailing the video directly with this video as some sort of a bug report but at this point it doesn't even seem like they're the ones at fault here I also tried to get the lock up to occur on my laptop which is running a slightly older version of Windows 10 but no crash occurred this further leads me to believe that the latest Windows 10 update 18 wo 9 is the problem so before I get to the conclusion there is one more thing while the system did lock up in one instance using the GT 1030 in another instance minecraft classic actually did properly crash which caused my monitor to glitch out and flicker a bit but then allowed the system to recover when this happened I immediately went into the Event Viewer that I mentioned earlier and saved the log for the crash itself and as you can see here a lot of information did show up this time personally I'm not all that sure what I can do with this but if I do ever get in contact with someone at Microsoft who wants to diagnose this issue I'll be sure to pass the information along so yeah that just about does it for me for now I would love to see this as you get fixed so that I can play minecraft classic for this channel and continue making videos about it even though this video was a little bit different than usual if you enjoyed this video please consider leaving a like on it because it would really help out myself the channel and the video quite a lot so I hope you all enjoyed my name is antvenom and i bid you all farewell thanks so much for watching
