telemarketers would call at first i thought it was funny but my grandmother had dementia and she had been like scammed before at the time i was working in software development and i was thinking man if i didn't know about these tech support scams surely my grandma would not have known about these tech support scams so i i just like tried to explore it and call and i remember telling a bunch of my friends and they were like you should put it on twitch so we can see it you're like batman some people have said that i never intentionally was trying to be batman oh i was gonna ask you if you'd ever been involved in any weird scams or oh my god anything like that i got baited by one of the worst like such an easy one it's embarrassing when i tell the story back you don't have to but yeah it's fine it's it's uh when it happened to me it felt very real though so i could i tell the story back and i'm like how did i fall for this i was sitting at work at my office job so i was an interior designer i had an assistant so usually if i got a phone call it'd be blair blah blah's on the line you know and she'd transferred to me but this day my my boss comes running back and he's like blair there's a there's a call for you like line two it sounds pretty important you should take it and i was like oh okay you know like immediately stressed now because my boss just told me so i pick up the phone and they're like so again i can't believe i fell for this they're like this is the irs oh no yeah you owe back taxes and if you don't pay these like we are we are coming to get you and i'm like coming to get me they're like we have police on the way this is your location and they give me the address of my work and i'm like this is terrifying and they're like they know where you are yeah they know where i am and then i'm like you know at first i'm a little sus i'm like no and they're like yeah like this is your your mom this is your dad this is your sister this is you know and they're like this is where you live like they start saying all of these things and i'm like what am i supposed to do and they're like you need to go to the federal courthouse i'm like oh that doesn't sound that that doesn't sound sucks at all right and then they were like you do have to bring cash and i was like i don't have cash but i'm not that's a non-starter for me yeah but i was like i'm just gonna go there and figure it out and they're like okay stay on the phone with us and i'm like this is my work this is my work phone and they're like we're gonna call you on your cell phone they already had my number so oh my goodness yeah so they call me on my cell phone and they're like just so you know we're tracking your phone uh don't hang up or we'll arrest you and i'm like yeah okay like i'm just panicking and like my boss is like sitting next to me and it's on speaker and he's like he's also like you better go and i'm like yeah i guess like i don't know so i get in the car i start driving um and i have these people on speaker they like have my location they're like telling me where to turn they're telling me you know and i'm i'm just flustered and i'm also dyslexic and so they tell me to go right and i accidentally went left and they start freaking out they're like you need to pull over right now and i'm like okay like okay you know so i hurry and pull over and they're like okay we're just making sure you're not like fleeing we have someone on you like we have someone following you watching you they were giving you direct like turn my turn turn by turn they were like right behind me so i start driving i'm panicking and i'd like texted my boyfriend right before i got in the car so he's like calling me frantic and i'm like i can't answer because then i hang up on these people like i don't know what's going on and i i finally um i pull up to the courthouse and um there's parking underground or there's parking up top and i'm like where should i park where should i park and the call drops and so i'm just stressed that i might i pull into the closest parking lot i don't even pay for parking i run into the building so i'm like i don't want to get arrested as soon as i go in the building you have to go through metal detectors because it's a federal courthouse and i'm just like throwing stuff and i'm like crying i'm like i don't know who to talk to but apparently i'm getting arrested and as soon as they hear that they're like follow us they grab like two of the security guards take me into a room they like close the door and stand in front of it they sweep the whole building because apparently it was a sex trafficking scam no yeah that these people they they lure you into the federal courthouse basement like the parking garage and then they have you park next to them and then they kidnap you oh my god yeah yeah and so like i had like and like you're going to the federal courthouse you're going to the fed like so they obviously knew about this because they that's why they like yeah took you away they swept the whole building and they encouraged me to like i had to turn all location services off on my phone like any app that used location services they had me turn it off they like it was it was i have never heard a story like that scary yeah but it was also so stupid because i should have never you like no i mean i don't think it's fair to say that i don't think it's fair to say you're stupid because like it's just set up they knew everything about you a lot of the scams are they're trying to like get you to act quickly and not think because if you maybe if you stopped and thought about it for a few minutes like now in hindsight of course we'll probably do some improv scam stuff today the newest scam that we found they do say i don't know it's crazy to me it's weird to even bring this up in a sentence but the newest scam is sometimes so just as a preface for for your community in general they say that you've been hacked sometimes they'll take it another level and say we're looking at your records and it shows that they've been uh they've been using your identity to like upload or buy child pornography and they go down some like really weird paths dude you know what's crazy is like i i just feel a little gross i know you're in full control here but i'm like as soon as you say like they tell me i got hacked i'm like i got hacked like i immediately believe it already okay this one says that they're norton and that we just got charged four hundred and seventy dollars for their premium subscription so we want
