I wish I had an awesome skill, and could make cool things like this. Ya know, instead of being an idiot.

The screws sticking out the front would bother me too much, but I guess with his calm playing style it doesn't really matter.

Pretty cool, but the painted fret board seems like a bad idea if you actually want to play this thing.

Good implementation. I don't know if he clear-coated the top-side acrylic, but it'd be wise to...Plexi is soft and scratches are 8 million different kinds of pain in that ass to polish out.

[Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Laughter] so i don't usually paint my necks i'll clear coat them or put some oil on but not paint on this one i'm going to try something different so i'm going to start off with a few coats of primer [Music] [Music] so [Music] so this is an acrylic sheet also known as plexiglass you're probably seeing a lot of these in restaurants and stores kind of as barriers with the chrono virus going on but for this project i'm going to use them as the top and the bottom for the [Music] guitar [Music] got this neck all clear coated uh and it looks nice and shiny i'm gonna try giving it a few coats of a gloss it's kind of like a gloss silver mirror like spray paint i'm gonna see how that looks i think it'll go well with the theme of this guitar [Music] i cracked the bottom sheet of acrylic when i was drilling this hole so i got a new sheet this one's a little bit thicker so hopefully i won't crack this one all right i've got the new one all cut out and drilled up now i'm going to remove the protective wrap from it and give it some coats of that silver paint and ideally the opposite side that i spray when it's all done will look like a view [Music] a few coats of clear coat on all these just to protect the silver paint i've got the top side all cut out now i'm going to peel back the wrap and apply some two-way mirror film on it and this will let us see into the guitar but also reflect back towards the bottom here and if this doesn't make sense right now it will later [Music] so [Music] all right so this is the bottom piece that i painted the back side of and looks like a mirror i bought some cheap rgb lights to kind of experiment with um but they're difficult to solder and just not that customizable and i don't i just don't really like them so i got some new leds these are totally customizable in terms of colors and patterns and they're also a lot [Music] brighter [Music] the effect that you're seeing is just the led lights bouncing off the back mirror into the front mirror and so on it's an interesting effect and i've seen a lot of people making these just in photo frames or as coffee tables and so i thought it'd be a cool idea to make a guitar out of it the leds are customizable through an app where i can animate them change colors brightness etc i was a little worried about the strength of the guitar being that there's only like a three quarter inch wide frame for the whole guitar but the acrylic is pretty sturdy overall and it feels like it's gonna hold up to the tension just fine the neck turned out pretty good um i was kind of bummed because before i put the clear coat on over the silver paint it had an awesome kind of like buffed aluminum look where it was super reflective and shiny but after the clear coat it took a lot of those reflective properties away so it still looks cool and i think it fits the guitar well but you know just kind of experimenting with some new things on this the guitar does have some issues with feedback from the led lights when they're plugged in you get a buzzing sound similar to when a bridge isn't grounded it's that same kind of buzz it would have been super easy actually to put some insulating tape around the inner side of the electronics compartment i'm not sure how much that actually would help but maybe i'll open it back up sometime and try it out and on that note i'm super stoked on how those pieces came out the kind of electronic compartment shape and the pickup box i just sanded the acrylic down to give them kind of a frosted look and they really light up well in the led light and they reflect in the mirror which looks awesome yeah that's about it not i don't have a whole lot else to say um the strings are kind of difficult to feed into the holes on the bridge from the back side it's kind of tedious but i think it's worth it because it looks pretty cool how you can see the strings coming through the guitar it weighs just over six pounds so super light which makes sense considering it's completely hollow to the demo now as always you can follow my work on instagram bros art [Music] [Music] mmm [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] uh [Music] you
