(mattress crushing) (cheering) - This is a super weird man cave man. On the last Intel Extreme Tech Upgrade where my staff get kitted out
with $5,000 tech make-overs, Dennis showed us the true
meaning of stretching a dollar. Not to be out done, Andy
has taken it a step further not only spending his entire allotment on what is going to be a sick man cave but even soliciting free
labor from his boss. Yes, my friends, I am going to
be painting Andy's basement. So if you'll excuse me, a moment I just have to undergo
a transformation here. Smooth. Let's go. (bright upbeat music) This is your current- - This is my PC setup. - Man cave. A baby really does change
your life, doesn't it? (chuckling) - You see have no keyboard and
this place is like so dusty because I don't have time to clean them. And that PC haven't been turned on for like three or four months. - Oh my God. What the hell dude. - This room used to be our room and I have like the king size bed. - Wait, so the baby ended up with this bed and you got that one. - No. - One of the best pieces of
parenting advice I ever got, was you gotta hit them
while they're young. Okay. That way they fear you, but
they don't remember why. - Okay. Yeah. - Hold on a second,
this is a sick machine. - Yeah it is. - What is this, like 20.80 TI? - 20. 80 TI in there and 8,600 K. - But, how are we
supposed to upgrade this? - Uh 30. 80. - Okay. Fair enough. - Hey, Linus, you say
you love peel, right? - Love peels- - No. - Wait, what the hell? (chuckling) When there's this much
dust on top of something it's too long for the
peel to still be on it. - You mean you bought a
thing then after one year, you peel and you have, Oh,
I just bought a new thing, that type of feeling. - There's a special
place in hell for people who don't peel the covers
off their electronics. Speaking of peels, that's medical tape. I probably wouldn't put
that on paint by the way. - Stolen from the office. - It doesn't surprise me. It's your baby a light sleeper at all? - Yeah. - You got one, two, three, oh my God, this layer is the best, the cardboard. (laughing) - I just don't want to wake him up. He cries so loud. Last time it show on my Apple watch, was like 1:12 decibel. (chuckling) - Okay. So this is where
you've been doing your gaming? - No. - Oh, that's an I-MAC. - I switched to Mac since 2009, I think, then after that I had no gaming PC and all my monitor, including
that one was 60 Hertz. - Okay, yeah, we're going to get this
sorted out for you, Andy. We're going to get this
taken care of here. This is number two, this is strike two for stolen from the office. - Well, I stole that because
we're building a PC today. - I haven't seen this
at the office in a while and I always recognize it. (laughing) It's got the green tape on it. Is this- - You're not peeling that, that will lose the value of it. - It'll lower the value it. - It will lower all the value of it. - How much will it drop the value? - It's like a couple hundred bucks. - That's a price I'm willing to go. - No! - The thing is Andy, why do you really need
like a sick home theater set up downstairs? You've already got one here. Well, I have to confess,
I'm a little confused that you have the PS4 sitting
collecting dust upstairs. (speaking over each other) Now we have PS3- - It's also collecting dust. - Connected to the TV. - No, it's not, it's just sitting, it's just decoration now. - All right, cool. - Oh oh oh, you found it. Oh, you found it. - So why do you need to
set up downstairs then? This seems pretty good. - This is tiny P. - And it still had a peel on it? - You see, I have a theater set up here but I can't really use it. 'Cause my in-laws sometimes lay down here until maybe twelve-ish. - You can't make noise 'cause
the baby is a light sleeper, you can't be here 'cause the
in-laws occupy this space. - Yeah. - All right, I understand now. - Hey, Linus, you see. - [Linus] Are you kidding me? - I'm sorry, you're right, I give up. I can't remove all of these stickers. - Okay, that's wasn't from
me, that's from my in-laws. - If I didn't know better Andy, I think you're some kind of
camera equipment hoarder. - Yes. - This is a filming mono pod. - Yeah, so the baby,
when he like, you know, eating here, he can just,
look at those cute animals. - So on my way to start painting, I'm pretty sure this is
stolen from the office. - Yes. - And our last stop before we get started is taking a look at Andy's hall. He's gone with an LG C10 65 inch OLED TV a pretty sick looking... of course small form factor gaming setup. So we've got a Z four 90-I gaming, 10 eight 50 K, we've got 32 gigs of 3,600
megahertz vengeance LPX and of course an RTX 30.
80 founder's edition. And he's got a few
non-PC upgrades as well. You've gone with the Oculus quest to. - So, that way I can play,
you know, Bass Saber, with you guys and also onward with that. - Very nice. And then what is this? This doesn't even look brand new. - It's a film scanner. There's no way you can get that brand new. You know, I can finally, you
know, scan my phone film. 'Cause I divided at home and also I scanned it all by myself. - Right? So this just seems a little
bass backwards to me though. If you want a digital copy of it, why don't you just shoot on digital? - You know, I like grainy,
you know, those film grain but I don't like noise. It's different. - And we've also got
some nano leaves. Cool. And I have no idea what's in these boxes but we'll get to that after. - This is the case. - What really? - This is the case. - That's your case. - That's my PC case. - It's going to be interesting- - From Ikea? - [Andy] No. - Tell me something Andy,
you did the prep for this, did you sand this putty at all
before you painted over it? - I was up doing this
like pretty late night. So, I sand it down but probably not. I didn't do a good job. - Paint does not fill, paint just colors. - So this space used to be a work area for the previous owner, he
does a lot of like wooden work. So he just like have the
shop back on that way and run the PVC pipe this way. I'm not going to run a shop back. So I'm probably going to take those out. - I can see why you asked me to bring my own painting supplies. Oh so this is... Oh Andy you didn't... - I don't really know how to store them. - You got two gallons of paint
to do that couple of walls. Washable flat. Most people put eggshells on the walls. - Oh yeah, because I want
to have no reflection. I want that set up to be a, you know, color degrading then slash
entertainment center. - Okay, I'm getting it. More stolen goods. - What? - These skateboards
from channel super fun. - That's all under the...
yeah, like the donate pile. - Ah uh. You've got more stuff from
the office than Dennis even. - That's a raise. - How long have you had this pink? - A couple of days. - Oh, okay. So separating a little
bit and it should be fine. How'd you settle on this color? - Because this ink is 50% gray. It doesn't really have any humid in it. So, you know, photography nerd. - Is that how you shake your paint? Is it how you shake? - No, this is how I shake it. It kind of makes me feel
like there's no point brushing along the top. There's already roller
marks on all these beams. - So this is the FormD T1, which is another custom like
a small form factor case. Is there a manual type of thing? Like I don't see any like documentation. - [Linus] You need some
tech tips over there Andy. - You want to go take a look of the case? - Ah, sorry I'm busy. Pro tip, never hire a painter
that puts painting tape all over your trim. You to know why, because anyone who needs
to use painting tape is not a very good painter. - So this is the back of the case. It's like full seen and seed. Very beautiful design. I'm pretty sure Alex will love this. - The paint store loves selling you all these accessories to
do a professional job. You know, they'd get
you like a trim roller, you know a special thing
to put in your bucket. You know what a professional needs, this, that's it. - So on top you can
either put a 240R radiator with slim fan, but today I'm building an air cool system that just have like...
those two notes were fun. Sit on top of there. Yeah. Like that. - Never do with a brush, what
you can do with a roller. Yeah, there we go, look at that. - Unlike the conventional PC, this thing has some power
button of a waterproof thread. Slide that in just like that. Nice and flash. - Hey Andy. - [Andy] Yes. - First coat is done, you want to see it? - [Andy] All right. - Now, I know you said I
didn't need to do a great job. - Wow. - But I did it anyway. Look at that perfectly cut line. - So you didn't use like painters tape? - [Linus] Of course
not, I'm a professional. - I'm impressed. - Look at the perfection. - I know you're a professional but I don't know you're that professional. - So then motherboard, why did
we go with this motherboard? Very simple. - It's small. - Fully featured, fits in the case. Supports 10th gen Intel CPU's and we're not going to use the... It doesn't have dual M dot-2 on this. - It has dual M dot-2. - But yeah, we're just
going to use a seed drive because Andy had a lot of hardware kind of lying around already. - Yeah. - This machine is going
to be freaking crazy. You're totally going to be
able to game like 4k 120. - Yeah. Anyways- - Peel the damn thing. God! - So for the CPU, I'm going
with the core i9-10850K. Even though I'm not going to overclock but because the higher base clock and also 10 core which means
I can do my professional work and also you know, play
some high refreshing gaming. For the cooler, I'm actually
going with the, NH-L12S, which is like an L-shape
low-profile typo cooler. So pretty much this is the best cooler that can actually fit in this case. For the RAM, I'm going with
the core Sarah Vengeance LPX because it's low profile and that can fit underneath
the cooler. So that's why. - Starting to sound like a broken record. I went with this one because
it fits in this case. - Yeah. And also like
sort of 600 megahertz. - Not bad, it's fast. - I think we have a little
bit of situation here. There is a clearance problem. The RAM side is okay but this side is like slightly taller, so we need to use a smaller fan. It's fine, like the one
that I use in my ghost, it has like a 92 millimeter fan. - We could also just to remove that trout. Oh, this might all be one
piece with the VRM cooling. - It's fine, I can use the other cooler. - Oh my God, there's a heat
pipe with the whole thing. Yeah okay, it's not coming off. So do you have another fan? - Yeah I do. - Oh, why didn't you say so? - I told you, I told you twice. - But I thought you meant there was just like another
one that was an option. I didn't think like you had it on hand. - No, it's in my ghost. - Well look, I've been over
there painting walls, okay. - You know what, thanks
for your hard work. - You've definitely got a type Andy. - Yep. - A handy motherboard,
Intel CPU, core Sarah RAM. Did you go core Sarah power supply again? - Yup. The same. I'm going to take this one
and put it into this one. It's going to be the same thing but like beefed up. - It's like when your new girlfriend meets your ex-girlfriend, it's like looking in a mirror. - Okay, what's sick about the
C 10 is basically everything. It's all led, so you got
those perfect blacks. It's high refresh rate,
so you get that smoothness when you're gaming, it's got support for
variable refresh rate, which means G sync, baby. No tearing. I mean, what's not to like, it's expensive but hey Andy, would you pay for it? - Ah, no. - Okay, cool. - Thanks Intel. - Yeah, exactly, so
everything's taken care of. It occurs to me though, hey Andy, do you have a couch down here or what? - No, I don't have a couch but I'm going to have a bed here. You know, those professional
colored waiting room, they just have like all the
directors sitting on couch but I'm going to replace
that couch with a bed. - Oh my God. What kind of fancy bias lighting is this, ISV color accuracy certified? - [Andy] Hey it's also like 98 plus CRI. That thing is 80 bucks. I
pay like all my money on it. - What! Why? - It's professional. - Nerd.
(chuckling) - I was pulling the power supply out I may have snapped the SST. - [Linus] Don't get too relieved here but I think you are probably okay, you did not snap off in here. So it's possible that it's
just bent but not broken. One thing I will say is cool
about your fancy led strip Andy. - [Andy] Hey, hey. - Is they use kind of a flexible PCB so you can actually go
around corners with it. - [Andy] Wow. - Oh my God. I've already cable managed these on top of the peel on the back. I guess it's staying on. - [Andy] Hey, hey, getting wrecked. - Oh God, this is not,
this is not equally cool. Okay. Is that about the same distance? - Yeah. - That's pretty close. What? It's not that bad. It's pretty good. - It's good. - It's pretty even. - Yeah, to your standard. - Oh, shut up. - So David, I got an update for you. The 30.80. I already put the power supply and the SST in there. Same thing to the 30.80. This is the only card
that can fit in this case, in this configuration. - [Linus] I bet you could have
fit a cheaper card in there. - Yeah, but like a 30.80. you know, who's going
to say no to a 38.80. - Here we go. - [Andy] Hey, Hey, don't drop
my TV, I know you drop things. - I've got to do the maneuver, hold on. - That's painful to watch. I'll grab this. - It's a little high Andy - Or I can just drink wine and get high. - Wait, what? Andy, do you have a plan for
like a floor covering in here? - Nope. - Really? - Yeah. I just blew all my
money on tech, you know. I'm an Asian, I wear slipper. So the bed will be somewhere in this area. - Like right up next to- - Right in the center. - Where's the PC go then? - The PC is going to
be sitting on my desk. - Oh, cause we over there. - Yeah. - Pull! Oh my God. Andy's office thieving saves the day. (laughing) Absolute mad lab. (both growling) - Is there enough room? - Hold on, I'm just gonna tuck
myself into the wall here. So Andy, tell me something, has Ariel like kicked
you out of the bedroom? I found the mattress and I also found some more
stolen goods from the office. - No, that's like you donate those to me. - Oh, is this from the office too? - Yeah. - Oh, okay. How much stuff do people
just like take home from the office? (mattress crushing) (cheering) - This is a super weird man cave, man. Actually, I don't even
know what to tell you guys but, like it's not my place to judge it. I just, I've just come to help, that's it. Andy, do you have power? - Yeah. It's from the office but like don't really have time now to grab an extensor cable. - You're officially the new winner. Look at this thing, It's like not much bigger
than an Xbox series X. Like it is bigger but
it also got a 10 core at like five point, whatever
gigahertz and a 30.80. it's freaking crazy. That GPU is not powered on. Andy, I thought you were 100%
sure that PCAE power was in. - Yeah. - What's this? - What is that? - You see how you power? (chuckling) - God damn it Andy. Why do people have to stress
me out in this manner? - Hey, David, is this level or Linus... - Yeah, it looks good. - [David] I really like the photo. - Oh, thank you. I can send you one if you want. - Is that your photography? - Yeah. - Oh, wow, I love it. - This is Highway One
and this is Yellow Stone. - What, really, Highway One? - Not like in the city. The California Highway One. - Oh cool. - Yeah, so lighting wise, I also got the bank here screen bar plus. It's all monitor light
that I can, you know just hang it on top of the monitor. - You know, I still remember when Ben Q launched their like home lighting series. I was a product manager at NCIX and I was like, who the hell would buy
a Ben Q desk, light, you. I finally found someone,
eight years later. - The color temperature can go from 2,700 Kelvin to 6,500 Kelvin. I believe 6,500 Kelvin is
the monitor, why point. Which is why I'm so
picky of those led strip and also the screen bar. - Got it. - Yeah, 'cause I want color accuracy. - You talk about gaming a lot but this really feels more
like an ultimate [Bleep] setup. You got the bed in front of the TV, you got the VR headset... (chuckling) - And this is my own space, oh. - It's all quiet and everything, look at him, look, he's turning red. - What! - [David] You are really red, Andy. - The drive is not showing up which means we might
not be out of the woods on that bent connector just yet. - Did I break it? - Well, I don't know, it's also possible that you just didn't plug it in. - I'm 99.9% sure that I plugged it in. - It's not plugged in Andy! - [Andy] I must be
like, it must be like... - You're killing me here. - I think that's a good
sign we're loading. - Yes, that is a very good sign. - Linus, I'm sorry I damaged
your wall, I mean my wall. - Well, whatever the good news is you're putting the
nano leaf thing there, so, okay. That not exactly a 6,500 Kelvin, whatever you're talking about though. - [Andy] No. - I thought you said like
there was no RGB in this setup. - Nah, no RGB in the PC but like RGB on the wall,
you know, I like RGB. - All right, fine, whatever. I just felt like RGB my
not let you sleep at night. (smooth jazz music) - [Linus] Did we pull it off, is this it? - I think this is, how's the experience? - You know what, it's
actually not that stupid. So there's only one more
piece that remains to go on. It's this pegboard and since I've got, well, lunch half an hour
ago at home, not here. - I'll use that later. - Yeah, you can put that on later - It's fine, it's game time, you know. - Yeah, yeah. - I'm going to play game right now. - I'll put it there, people can imagine what it
will be like once that's there. (pegboard crushing) - And there you dropped
it, yeah, of course. (bed cracking) - Linus, did you just break my bed. (laughing) - Ooh my God! - [David] For the purposes
of finishing the video here, we'll just fake it. - Well is time for a couch. I can't watch [Bleep] anymore because you destroyed my bed. - [David] All right, how's
the gaming experience Andy?. - Oh, it's great, like never seen before. - Oh man. - Like even crushing the
wall feels like smoother. - Yeah, that actually looks fantastic. The only thing remaining then,
is this, that's right, Andy. I'm doing it, we're not leaving that on. In the meantime, guys, thank
you Intel for sponsoring this Extreme Tech Upgrade, this is the Andy edition. Thanks to Andy for
allowing us in his home. You know, I'm a bit of a bull
in a China shop sometimes and as we clearly saw today. Go back and watch the rest of this series. Make sure you subscribe So
you don't miss future ones, Andy I guess I owe you one bed. Don't worry, I'm good for it.
I'm good for it.
Linus says "Is this a case from IKEA"..
Me: "I wish".
you can tell linus pays his staff extremely well.
L12 with a 92mm fan to cool a 10850k?
[removed]
Cooling a 10850k with a L12S? That sounds like a disaster, I was barely able to cool my 9900k undervolted and locked at 4.7 ghz with an L12 for gaming. Seriously doubt you can run any serious workload like that.
Andy's got some style when it comes to his pc hardware
When Andy says the case in the small box, I thought maybe it's a T1.
I just saw the vid. They just casually unboxed the FormD while abandoning a perfectly fine Louqe Ghost without ever mentioning any of these cases directly. Big lol
Edit: apparently the case was mentioned
