now apparently in this box there is an rgb gaming system that's been made by an etsy um yeah that seems really promising and i have to admit going into this video i didn't know much about etsy other than it's a place where people buy like handmade braided friendship bracelets or whatever so i'm curious to see how this handmade friendship pc turns out [Music] now considering what i know about this rgb gaming system from buying it a small box kind of makes sense but this one is suspiciously small and it's also not very heavy so yeah i i really can't wait to see what's going on in here oh that's a snug fit although not quite as snug as you'd like actually okay so the accessories include a a wi-fi usb adapter dongle thing and then a display port to hdmi adapter for some reason and then finally a just power cable so we don't actually have e-waste peripherals with this etsy build which you know it's nice and environmentally friendly from the friendship bracelet manufacturer who okay so apparently the slimline dell optiplexes are much smaller than i realized now going into this i knew that i was getting essentially a dell optiplex with some keywords glued onto it but i don't actually know exactly what hardware is in this system considering that this etsy listing has a hilariously terrible parts breakdown um and looking at the outside of it it's also not looking very promising now having a closer look at the front we have some airflow effect here i don't actually know how blocked off this is at the back so it may not be super useful we've also got a whole bunch of usb 2 front headers up here we've actually got the manufacturing date of this optiplex which was well actually way back when i was still in high school so yeah that doesn't bode very well for the performance around the back there are more signs of geriatric age we've got some ps2 ports here with a display port which is interesting and then we've got a mesozoic period port with an uru port and then just a bunch of usb2 in terms of the graphics card we've got some low profile card here that has dvi and displayport again a very interesting combination but let's open it up and have a look inside this friendship bracelet pc oh what a beauty it's got a really interesting cooling solution now here we have a blower fan that pushes all the hot air out the back with a heatsink that has some heat pipes cooling something under this dvd drive we've also got a fan under there that's being choked out hard hopefully it's consensual but i don't think that's doing much now moving down to the low profile graphics card we have uh something by amd i don't actually immediately recognize that i don't want to take that out yet because i don't want to disturb that magnificent cable management over here but let me quickly google that serial number and see what this is going by my favorite graphics card resource tech powerup this is an amd radeon hd 8490 which is a low profile graphics card i've never actually seen before but going by the specs this thing makes a gt 710 look like a herculean beefcake of a graphics card and then finally going back to the beautiful handmade cable management uh i did spot what looks like a little bit of an issue yeah i'm not going to move that yet because i want to see what happens when we switch this pc on in its stock configuration the fan that that bit of cable is so beautifully jammed into is the reason why this is classified as an rgb gaming system because that fan has some leds in it just having a look at this beautiful naked pc lying here i can't actually remember how much i paid for this thing but i have a feeling it was way more than it was worth uh yeah so let's close this up and see how this little thing runs [Music] okay there we go there's actually no fan death sounds so that's that's already better than i was expecting oh look at all that rgb so fancy this is just a straight up windows install with uh okay so there are actually amd drivers on here that's exciting it says that it's an amd radeon r7200 series gpu so it's not the the graphics card that we thought it was earlier and then we've got an intel core i5 2400 cpu and then we have eight gigs of ram i'm assuming that's going to be ddr3 gpu-z also refers to it as an amd radeon r 7200 series but these specs are much better than i was expecting and if you click on look up here it takes you to the tech powerup site of a dell r520 400 which yeah this actually may outperform a gt 710 which would be which would be pretty badass so a very standard install of windows everything seems to be the way that it should be you can really sense that handmade etsy love that's gone into the system so let's see how it runs games considering that it is a gaming system after all so let's see what this gaming pc can do we're currently using 720p with pretty much the lowest settings so everything's on normal with like no draw distance and stuff and yeah i mean it's it's kind of hovering around 40 frames per second i don't know how well you're going to be able to pick it up on camera but there are we are currently living in the world of jaggies like it's real it's a real low res feeling now the thing that i find the most interesting about this gaming experience though is how hard that cpu is working to keep up with that low profile amd graphics card this is actually a surprisingly balanced system component wise um you know that doesn't mean that it's a good balance but yeah they're they're they're fairly well matched so if i dropped in like a bigger external graphics card or whatever we wouldn't get much better gaming performance now next up we're trying cs go because according to the listing this is a prime esports gaming machine yes this is some prime esports gaming performance we've got here oh look at those frame drops they really help you nail the head shots you know wow i actually just got wrecked by a bot which is pretty embarrassing so now we're doing rainbow six siege this is again 720p low settings and um oh wow that's like the slowest ads speed in a game ever what the hell is that but anyway these frame rates really are spectacular genuinely pro gamer worthy i don't know if this is the system's fault or if it's the game but it is very brown like [Laughter] like it's the whole game is just like various shades of brown it's really difficult to kind of figure anything out [Laughter] that is a that is a well realistic looking bear over there [Laughter] but hey we're getting 56 frames per second so it's it's definitely playable so the the listing kept talking about how well it runs fortnite [Music] so now that we've seen what kind of epic esports gaming this custom rgb system is capable of we need to discuss the last thing which is the price because if this thing came free on the side of a happy meal then yeah i'd say it's a pretty good deal the problem is it didn't come free on the side of a happy meal i paid just over 300 us dollars for this nine-year-old gaming plex which is a lot for essentially just some oversold keywords now on the other side i do kind of get it right if you're doing this as a side hustle it needs to be worthwhile for you but things get a lot sketchier when you take the shipping fees into account i had to pay 174 us dollars to have this pc shipped from the united states and as somebody who has many pcs shipped from the united states i know that this didn't cost 174 dollars to ship so i typed all of the details into ups's website and it turns out that they only paid about 52 dollars to have this thing shipped to me now bear in mind the ups shipping fees are an estimate on their website but still we're looking at an additional 120 us dollars in bogus shipping fees on a product that only cost 300 us dollars and it brings up the total price of this nine-year-old dell optiplex with an rgb fan in it to 500 us dollars which is complete madness like if it came with free lifelong hand jobs that would be too much like what it just shows how careful you need to be when you're buying stuff from websites like this because they often get you on the shipping fees but anyway that brings me to the end of the video let me know down in the comment section below what you thought of the system and the pricing and stuff like that subscribe to the channel if you want to see more videos like this one and until the next video thank you for watching bye [Music]
