I Am the Enemy (Pt 1) I Am Lucifer Jimmy Evans

[Music] well he's the snake that deceives and the roaring lion that devours but before all that he was a beautiful light-bearing angel of heaven today we're talking about the devil himself to get a better understanding of how he is our enemy very interesting topic but first joining me around the table rachel lamb brown how are you i'm doing good this is a very interesting topic not a lot of people i've ever heard of talk about it i think it's gonna be and there's a lot of people you know that believe in heaven but they don't really believe in hell or that there's an actual devil right that's in the world today yeah he's real he's active he's working so to know about him and be able to recognize him and you're going to be able to defeat him and that's right cindy johnson welcome hi there you're back on that did you have a good trip we had a great day cindy murdock welcome how is this topic uh relatable or for people who are watching is this something we need to talk about very much and i think once we can understand that recognizing the strategy of the enemy that a lot of times we aren't able to function in the authority and the power that's been given to us because we have been deceived by the enemy and allowed sin to creep into our lives that's right welcome back to the table i always say he's my older spiritual brother jimmy evans good to be here welcome we always love having you all my sisters yes here we are all this is the movie that's right that's right well war temptation greed sin it seems we are in a constant struggle against evil but who is really pulling the strings and do we know our enemy take a look throughout the span of human existence man has always had an enemy whether the enemy was a beast the elements or a fellow man humankind has always been involved in one battle or another but the battle that often gets overlooked is the most important one of all the battle for the human soul in that battle there is only one enemy we saw him in the garden we saw him in the wilderness but do we still see him today can he be defeated do we have weapons to fight him [Music] well today jimmy evans is here to expose the enemy's plans and teach us how to win against satan's schemes now how do we know there is a literal devil well you have to believe in the authority of the word of god and there are and then this is troubling and i want everyone to hear me say this right up front 60 of believers do not believe the devil is real unbelievable well this is how could they really be believed well do they read the bible well here's the point so jesus talked more about hell than heaven and i'm going to read some scriptures here from the bible in the words of jesus some of these are lords of jesus see if the bible is wrong on the devil how do i know it's right about jesus in fact if the bible's wrong about one issue in my mind it's unreliable why would i base my life on a book that's unreliable right and so when you say that a person is a believer but they don't believe in the devil well let me just read some scriptures if i can because we're going to talk about the enemy and i'm going to tell you why i'm speaking on this and and what god did to to kind of encourage me to speak on this but this is first peter 5 okay be sober be vigilant because your adversary the devil okay walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour i don't know how in the world you could look at that scripture and say there's not a devil but here are the words of jesus luke chapter 10 the 70 returned with joy saying lord even the demons are subject to us in your name and jesus said to them i saw satan fall like lightning from heaven behold i give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means harm you and so in the intro there it was talking about the the wilderness then jesus was led up by the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil after he had fasted for 40 days and 40 nights and of course we give the detail in mark 4 matthew 4 and luke 4 about that battle so the point is the bible is explicit that there is a devil old testament beginning of genesis 3 all the way until the end of the book of revelation old testament new testament there is a devil but i was i was praying last year is actually last summer and i was just praying about you know what the lord wanted me to speak on and just in an instant of time it was like the lord just took a drape and pulled it back and let me sin to the spirit realm and i saw the carnage of the devil slaughtering christians their marriages their health their lives their sanity just an onslaught and what i saw was sheep led to the slaughter at christian's absolutely defenseless well first of all what if you have an enemy who's invisible that you don't believe in and he hates you and he's assaulting you every single day and you don't understand that he's there you're just you're living a miserable life and see understand this and this is such a phenomenal scripture we need to be so thankful to god jesus said i give you authority to trample that's a violent word in other words we have total authority and he says over serpents and scorpions he's telling us right there the nature of the enemy so serpents and scorpions the thing that makes a serpent and this is the devil took the form of a serpent the garden of eden the thing that makes serpents so dangerous is stealth you don't know they're there and scorpions are also stealthy little critters that want about you okay so he's telling us the nature of the enemy right here but here's what he says i give you authority over all the power of the enemy there is not one thing the devil can do that we cannot stop him in we can stop him in anything that he's doing okay and then here's what he says and nothing shall by any means harm you if you use the authority okay so the devil the devil loves for people not to believe in him and we don't focus on the devil and we don't fear the devil right we focus on god and we and we fear the lord we do expose him for the liar that he is when when peter tells us be sober be vigilant because you're adversary of the devil we don't fear him we don't have to focus on him but we need to be uh aware we have an evil enemy intent on destroying us the good news is jesus defeated the devil on the cross and has given us all authority over him if we use the authority so my passion in in these messages and thank you so much for doing these programs is to help people understand we have authority it's not weird to use the authority it's not hard because it's not our authority it's god's authority what is the authority the authority that we have is the authority the blood of jesus the authority of the name of jesus the name of jesus the authority of the word of god the word of god we we have the authority to bind and loose jesus said whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven whatever you lose on earth is loosed in heaven so we have authority all of those means we have authority that any single thing the devil is doing in our lives in our marriage in our children in our bodies and our minds we have the authority to stop the devil in his tracks so are christians being defeated so much because they're not taking the authority that they needed that's right cindy and for most christians they don't believe there is a devil they believe that the devil is a symbol of evil there are entire denominations that don't believe in hell and again when jesus talks about it when the bible talks about it you don't believe it just throw the book away just go join in other clubs that's what i'm saying either it's all true it's all alive exactly and one of the other it's not part truth but here's the point humanism teaches us that men are inherently good and that the problems that we have are cultural in other words we are good on the inside the problem is out here that is inconsistent with reality because reality is there are evil people on the earth that have led a good life and nothing bad has ever happened to them but they're just evil stalin kim jong-il you know the the kim jong-un the in north korea these are people that they want to destroy other people and you see this in society they're hypocrites i mean we can just go down through it yeah there is evil on the earth and according to the bible the inspiration of that is the devil himself so we as believers obviously we're of the lord we're not evil but if we're not eve we're going to get our clocks clean what would you say to the people that are listening that say okay i do believe in the devil though and i'm one of the people that does and i've bound and loose i've prayed in the name of jesus i've done that and then bad things still happen to them what would you say to those people that because they're still losing well in the kingdom of god authority and this is john paul jackson is that in the kingdom of god authority is based on proximity okay so jesus a young boy was demonized uh and he came to the disciples a father came to the disciples and said my son has a demon and every time he gets around fire and water the demon throws him in the fire and water trying to destroy him and i brought him to your disciples and they couldn't cast it out and jesus said to the father how long has this been happening to him so since he was a little child and so jesus cast out the demon and the disciples came up to him afterwards and said and jesus called it a deaf and dumb spirit and it came out jesus the disciples then came to him privately and said why couldn't we cast the demon out and he said this kind only comes out through prayer and fasting here's what this means you can't sit in a casino casting out a spirit of materialism you can't sit in a strip bar casting out a demon of lust when you're apart from jesus when you're living in sin apart from jesus you lost your authority because authority is based on proximity even if you believe in the devil well that's right exactly so jesus why did jesus say this kind only come now we all we all have authority when you're born as a believer you have the authority that jesus gave you but the point is rachel you're saying this is a great question why can some people not take authority over the devil because you can't cast out your friends and you you can't cast the devil off his own territory and rebellion is darkness is his territory so jesus said this kind this particular demon some demons are stronger than others only comes out through prayer and fasting what does that mean get close to god fasting god does not like us to fast for us to hurt ourselves god likes us to fast because it tunes down the flesh and tunes up the spirit yes it makes us more spiritually sensitive so as i'm if i'm dealing with a spiritual entity the reason i want to press fast and pray is i want to get close to god i need all the discernment i can i need all the authority i can so yes i can bind and loose but that doesn't mean that i can wander out and live a careless life and take authority over the devil or you think about daniel how long did he pray and fast 21 days and didn't get an answer and wondered you know and of course we found out there had been a battle going on in the heavenlies but the answer was coming since the day you've started praying since the day you started praying so some some of you like rachel you maybe feel like well i just feel like i don't know where god is in this situation and and and like jimmy said um god is moving it just hasn't happened in the time frame that maybe is acceptable to you because we we want everything a lot of times to happen faster than it does but another little clue that he said is that add the prayer and fasting together and maybe you need to fast and just ask the lord what that looks like a meal a television social media but just where like you said the reason why food is significant because it it tames down our flesh and when i'm fasting i have more patience love kindness not that i like to do that but i mean it is a by-product well johnny so you just said something about social media social media is fine but it is now scientifically proven that the more time you spend on social media the more depressed and isolated you're going to be so we have to understand there are portals for the enemy to attack us yeah and when we put ourselves in certain environments being isolated being around ungodly people being being in an ungodly environment that we're opening ourselves up even though we're christians and god loves us we're opening ourselves up to a demonic attack let's go back just a little bit if we could because if i can hear sometimes i hear you asking the questions from home so let's establish who is the who is the devil where did he come from and are there others that are helping him and because there i know there are just like we believe in angels a lot of people believe in angels but they don't believe in demons well it's it's just wishful thinking um but here's isaiah 14 the devil was lucifer the devil was an angel god doesn't make anything evil okay god makes everything good and he made the devil good before he fell and beautiful and extremely beautiful so we're given an account a couple of accounts in the old testament of the origin of the devil one is isaiah 14. how you were fallen from heaven o lucifer son of the morning whisperer means light bearer or the reflector of light okay you're how you were cut down the ground you who weaken the nations for you have said in your heart i will ascend into heaven i will exalt my throne above the stars of god i will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farther sides of the north i will ascend above the heights of the cloud i will be like the most high yet you will be brought down to the shoal to the lowest steps of the pit those who see you will gaze at you and consider you saying is this the man who made the earth tremble who shook kingdoms who made the world as a wilderness and desolate and desolated at cities so the devil was created as lucifer but one day in the presence of god he said i'm taking your place so he had a free will lucifer had a freeway all angels because god doesn't create robots the everything in the kingdom of god is based on choice my relationship with god is based on choice and free will is the most precious thing we have and the angels have free will because a third of the angels according to revelation 12 a third of the angels went with lucifer that's how persuasive he was even in the presence of god so yes which is hard to believe honestly to think about a perfect environment and that a third of them would turn that's right but you know what what value is there on someone worshiping you that doesn't have a choice see i don't praise my microwave for microwaving it's programmed to do that i don't praise my vacuum for a second it has to it's programmed to do it so if i'm programmed by god to worship and i have no choice there's no values but what god loves is worship by choice i'm worshiping god because i love him and i worship him so lucifer was created perfect in the presence of god let me give you another account this is ezekiel 28 and this is where the the beauty of blues versus scribe you were the seal of perfection full of wisdom and perfect in beauty you were in eden the garden of god every precious stone was your covering the sardius topaz diamond barrel onyx and jasper sapphire turquoise and emerald with gold the workmanship of your timbrels and pipes were prepared for you on the day you were created you were the anointed cherub who covers i established you you were on the holy mountain of god you walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones you were perfect in your ways from the day you were created till iniquity was found in you by the abundance of your trading you became filled with violence within and you sinned therefore i cast you as a profane thing out of the mountain of god and i destroyed you a covering cherub from the midst of the fiery stones so here we see lucifer with musical instruments built into his body absolutely gorgeous as a reflector all these precious stones he was in the throne room reflecting the glory of god but it was god's light and glory that made him beautiful well you said it uh right johnny we were talking before the program and you said in the presence of god he was beautiful but when he was cast out he lost it all he's hideous in fact that's why in isaiah 14 it says i cast you to the ground to the lowest steps of the pit and people ultimately will come to the devil and look at him and say you're the guy this you're you're the devil this is a huge jesus maybe that's what we should do now you know the devil get you did you see behind me that's right well we talk about the enemy and we're talking about you know taking authority over the enemy the calling card of the devil is pride yes when you see pride this is the issue when you see the account of lucifer yeah and um and you see i will exalt my throne above the throne of god i will i will he's exerting his will above the will of god and expressing pride see this is how he got adam and eve to sin when he came into the garden of eden he said if you eat that fruit you will be like god and all of a sudden he begins to exalt them and they think you know something we we really want that so when the devil is coming to tempt us but i want you to see what the bible says here what the bible says about pride because you say well how does the devil attack pride it's one of the main ways the effects is because here's what the bible says proverbs 6. six things the lord hates yes seven are an abomination to him a proud look is number one lying tongue hands that shed innocent blood a heart that devises evil feet that are swift and running to evil a false witness who speaks lies and one who sows this discord among brethren the number one it says these are an abomination these are things that god hates a proud look okay then in james 4 and this is a very important god res god gives more grace therefore he says god resists the proud but gives grace to the humble the word resists is the word anti-toxo in the greek it means to set yourself in battle formation against this doesn't mean that i come up and do this or god is doing this it means when we're walking in pride god is standing in front of us saying zero percent chance you're going to succeed i will never let pride succeed god hates hate you have authority no but okay and so this is what james 4 says also because the triple whammy of walking and pride is this is again therefore submit to god resist the devil and he will flee from you triple whammy is god opposes us the devil attacks us and we lose our authority therefore submit to god then resist the devil and he will flee from you commit or surrender that's right well when we're walking in pride rachel the question that you ask why why do some people try to resist the devil and it doesn't work it only works when you're submitted to god if you're not submitted to god you can't resist the devil in other words submit to god then resist the devil free from him so we have to understand when we're talking about spiritual warfare because that sounds sometimes when i was a young believer and i would hear people talking about the enemy and there there are some people are a little weird and i would hear people saying well my car ran out of gas this morning the enemies really attacked me i'm thinking that's not the enemy you just need to feel yourself thank you you know so yeah so but the issue is you say well what is spiritual warfare spiritual warfare is understanding when the devil is tempting me to be proud and independent it's the devil that is that's the devil's calling card he adam and eve if you'll do this you'll be independent of god you will be like god you won't have to submit to him humility covers us in fact let me say this the way that uh the way that i want to say it and that is this the opposite of pride is not humility now humility is a virtue and we all all want to be humble and it's a good thing did you know that an unbeliever can be humble yeah yeah but did you also know that a humble person can think about themselves all the time they just think about themselves humbly because you're humble humility and how i attained it when when moses writes he was the most humble man on earth you're thinking probably somebody else i'll write that for you you know so but the the issue is this satan didn't go from from humility okay to pride he went from worship to pride the opposite of pride is worship because worship means my eyes are on god and not on me that's right so what is spiritual warfare psalm 149 says let the high praises of god in a two-edged sword be in your hand so that you can execute vengeance this honor have all the saints so literally when the devil attacks me in any way and i began to worship god when the bible says that that god is enthroned on the praises of his people satan can't operate in an atmosphere of worship because god is present and because god is the focus what the devil wants to do see self-pity uh self-pity low self-esteem all those things sometimes those are rooted in pride see like low self-esteem says this i wish i was great yeah i wish i was a great singer or comparing yourself to everyone else that's right rather than just saying god thank you for who you made me to be yes you know and that's right and just being content but see i don't want to i want to be a humble person but i don't want to just be a humble person i want to be a worshiper yeah because satan was a worshiper he was lucifer he came out of the presence of god and by the way do you know what the end game is in second thessalonians 2 satan is going to go into a rebuilt temple the antichrist that's one of the programs we're going to do he's going to go into the rebuilt temple in israel and proclaim himself god he still is after god's worship and the world will worship him and they'll revelation 13 the world will worship him but we cannot worship him and we cannot live our lives in pride so a person's saying well you know jimmy you're talking about the enemy and you're talking about all this stuff what are you talking about i'm talking about being humble people and worshiping god that the devil comes to us even depression depression can be rooted in uh pride again because we're wanting to be something that we're not and the bible says in isaiah 61 god has given us the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness the spirit of heaviness is discouragement and depression the answer for discouragement and depression is not sitting around thinking about yourself the answer for discouragement oppression is put on the garment of praise when the bible says you put on something it means you're not born with it you didn't wake up with it every day that i wake up i've got to reach over and take the garment of praise and say i'm not going to live this day complaining i'm not going to live this day thinking about myself i'm going to live this day worshiping god right and because i'm wearing the garment of praise the devil can't put a spirit of heaviness on me um this kept coming to me you know there i just i was saw on the news and all these different channels that were pitching this um i don't even know if she calls herself a psychic but she talks to your dead loved ones and she tells you good things and all the movie stars that show they're just like crying you know they're so touched because they're talking to a dead mother or father you know and and so um that is necromancy that that is that is a tool of the enemy it's very dangerous for christians to get mixed up with that kind of stuff john paul said they're tuning in to the wrong source it's not the holy spirit and because the devil's counterfeit that was my point he sure is and that is dangerous stuff and you know something everything in god is so fantastic we don't need the dark side to help us out and that's exactly what it is and those are not dead people talking those are demons talking those are demon spirits familiar spirits but here's the message in it joni you don't need jesus to go to heaven these people weren't christians and now they're talking to you from the dead telling you they're okay yeah see the message there is they're not okay because they're christians and they believe in jesus they're okay because they were good people now they've passed on to the other side and they want you to know they're okay now it's nonsense if we use our authority that god has given us as christians don't you think you would see a lot less of these psychics and other things where people are wanting to go to find answers yes and we did a presbytery service at gateway one time and i had a word for a young lady and she was a witch and i had a word and i said you're a witch your mother's a wish and your grandmother's a witch and the lord's gonna set you free this is in a presbytery service i thought this is the most bizarre to word that okay listen i was more than nervous okay listen she came up to me afterwards she said i'm a witch my mother's a witch my grandmother's witch and that young man that i'm with is a satanist and he came tonight to see if there was any power in god they both got saved oh wow but but my point is this you are operating in authority we have the real thing yes we don't need this we have the real thing but one of the reasons that people are turned off by christianity is we don't use it thank you we don't use yes you know in the the power of god is so phenomenal so magnificent that's how jesus jesus drew multitudes by teaching simple truths and by healing people's hurts supernaturally and people loved it and that's what the church is called to do is to teach the truth of jesus simply and lovingly and to heal heart supernatural yeah be filled with the spirit that's right use your prayer language i mean i i just think those things are so very important you have that authority well i cannot believe we're out of time i want to thank jimmy for joining us at the table it's always a joy to
