hello welcome back to the fifth episode of Hyrule science a series where I'm going to explore every fusible item in tears of the kingdom and see if I can find out anything interesting about them today we're going to be analyzing every Zona device I'm also going to be testing how long every Zona device lasts so if you're wondering why this video took so long here's why but first let's read some comments quick disclaimer there are a lot of comments here so I might not be able to read them all thank you guys for sharing facts about the game with me and other people nonetheless I love how both me and other people are still learning new things about this game every day and you guys really help with that there are quite a few comments explaining that Dazzle fruit does work on light puzzles you just need to be in bullet time adhdd JC Yates gossip boy just a guy Sebastian and that one's comments All discuss if kisai balls let boomerangs track their targets this unfortunately does not seem to be the case others may be having different experiences with this that make it seem like they track but with my testing they do not for those wondering this applies to Spears as well Dave's OST stated that Dragon horns extend the timer of meals and elixirs to 30 minutes which they do I'm not sure how I forgot to mention this in the last video since I used them all the time it even works this way in breath of the Wild I'd like to note that it does not work for other Dragon Parts like scales or Spike shards only horns will give this 30 minute buff Travis states that different Wing variants fly different distances for my testing this does not seem to be the case it does feel like other types go faster but visually there's no change in the distance they go one thing I missed in the last video is that attaching a dragon part to a zombie vehicle extends its render distance range by a lot I'll just let cleric explain here's a small graph of a couple of things I tested the despawn radius for apples despawn at 50 meters steering sticks at 90 meters mirrors at a surprising 210 meters and then there's Dragon parts they will only despawn if you're 2 000 meters away now this includes all Dragon Parts meaning a cheaper alternative to fusing scales to your vehicles to use Dragon Spike shards since you can get many more at once Cloud zero stated that fusing a gliocorn to a yiga blade Master Sword changes the element of its power attack which does indeed work here's a demonstration of all the elements you can use almost any Elemental blade for this to work as well not just gliocorns unfortunately fusing a blunt material will remove the special attack from this weapon including like-like Stones dragon scales Dragon claws choo choo jelly and dragon Spike shards from my testing the only ones that do work are the zolfo's horns Dragon horns angliac horns yeah Blitz and Byron asked if the long throw modifier Works in conjunction with a key swing to extend its thorough range for my testing with Spears this does not seem to be the case in this clip as you can see I'm using two long throw Spears one with a key swing one without [Music] [Music] as you can see both Spears landed around the same area it appears either long throw overrides the key swings or there's a maximum distance that Throne weapons can go sad lastly Poseidon asked if key swings and eyeballs stack with the extra distance you get from the duster Garuda bow for those who don't know you can get the dusk bow at the peak of Hyrule castle and it shoots a farther distance than other bows Let's test it [Music] the increase to distance does indeed stack again thank you all for commenting and sharing facts I'd like to give a quick reminder that there is a Hyrule science spreadsheet I made with a bunch of data for almost each and every inventory material including the price facts about them and more without further Ado let's do some science [Music] before I start let me preface by explaining how the zonai set works one piece reduces the battery cost by 20 the second reduces it by 30 and the third by fifty percent this is the same way that attack up works so if you intend on doing a lot of building with the zonai devices I advise getting this set as soon as possible fans are one of the first zonai devices you get in this game and have a ton of usage outside of fusing one fan by itself will cost you one battery every 20 seconds and they use exponentially less energy the more fans there are with each added fan we're using roughly 30 percent less energy for example two fans last 14 seconds per battery and three fans last 10 seconds they have some neat utility as they can be used to make a tiny updraft and as most of you know when used in conjunction with a steering stick they can make the Beloved airbike when fusing to a melee weapon you can get a Guster that costs energy and when fusing to a shield you get a fan that doesn't really do much against enemies I guess it's a good portable way to blow away sand if anything trying to throw it simply blows air and fusing it to an arrow doesn't really do much lastly fans will last for 30 minutes of usage before disappearing wings are also one of the first stunnai devices you get boasting a gliding ability not present with others on our devices they last for one minute while Airborne but some users at the Hyrule engineering subreddit have discovered that if you make them fly backwards they last forever obviously this doesn't make them as aerodynamic as they could be but it's really cool nonetheless the using one to a weapon simply makes it a club but when thrown it will make it Fly farther which also applies to boomerangs [Music] fusing one to a shield will sadly not let you Glide but it does give you a shield jump that is noticeably higher which if used right can let you get some bullet time on the spot fusing these to an arrow makes the arrow fly farther akin to a key swing carts are pretty darn neat they allow for moving Zona devices or other things easily if you don't have any wheels and are especially useful for getting fan planes to take off using one to a weapon allows you to create a Guster and fusing one to a shield effectively creates a skateboard letting you Shield surf with extremely low friction both fusions don't really do anything as for the time limit I drove around Hyrule Field for an hour destroying two fans in the process it's safe to say that there's either a huge time limit on carts or it simply doesn't have one balloons aren't really utilized that much by the community and for good reason there's not a whole lot of reason to use them mid game balloons generate lift depending on the source of heat with more intense sources of heat generating more lift most people use a flame emitter but a trick you can do that doesn't cost any battery is to use wood in the place of the flame emitter it doesn't generate as much lift but you can boost the lift by using a Pinecone or oil jar fusing onto a weapon will make it bouncy sending smaller enemies flying with the final hit of a combo or a power attack this is similar to how mushrooms work but unlike mushrooms it doesn't guarantee disarm for basic enemies when fused to a shield effectively making it useless both fusions leave something to be desired as well at last for two minutes midair and I did try to see what would happen if you inflate a balloon when fused but it doesn't really do anything unfortunately rockets on the other hand are extremely useful generating a large amount of thrust in a very short span of time making it useful for getting a wing off the ground or just for generally lifting anything using one to a weapon turns it into a club which doesn't seem to do much at first but it does allow you to throw it in a straight line giving much more range which also applies to boomerangs fusing onto a shield and pulling out the shield will give you a bunch of vertical height making it handy for scaling Cliffs Shield surfing on one will give you horizontal boost instead fusing one to an arrow will effectively give you infinite range causing the arrow to go out of render distance before it even lands using more than one rocket does not Grant any extra distance as it travels at a fixed rate even with four Rockets attached they last for three seconds and consume half an energy cell when used with the consumption rate appearing to run the same as fans costing exponentially less with each added rocket from now on I'm just going to assume every Zona device will consume less and less energy with each added device time bombs they're similar to bomb barrels but on a timer when struck they will go on a three second timer before detonating dealing 30 damage with blast fused to a weapon it does the same thing when hitting anything Shield surfing however detonates it instantly giving a huge vertical boost blocking a hit will also put it on said 3 second timer in conjunction with bows or multi-shot bows you can place these to Ambush enemies or destroy ores from a distance portable pots are well portable pods in case you can't tell by the way I am terrible at segwaying they are a one-time use pot which makes them handy if there's not a pot nearby and you need one if using one to a weapon will make it a hammer letting you break oars and rocks in less hits Shields don't really do anything same with those [Music] one really cool feature that people have gotten out of this is using them as ball socket joints which allows for creating suppression for vehicles flame Frost Shock and beam emitters are well I'm not sure where to begin flame emitters shoot fire not really much more to say there Frost emitter shoot Frost and are the only thing to my knowledge that can create long ice platforms shark emitters are fantastic for fishing creating a small radius of electricity inside the water which kills fish instantly beam emitter shoot at a long range beam making it easy to hit unsuspecting enemies around corners fusing these two 11 attacks with their respective type and the same applies for Shields when blocking things get really chaotic once you start fusing them to boomerangs two of the emitters drain at the same rate One battery every 15 seconds and each of them lasts 30 minutes before disappearing all right I didn't spit out water making link and enemies wet fusing onto a weapon makes it a hammer letting you break it Wars easier and it also makes the area around Lincoln fusing one to a shield lets you shoot out a constant stream of water when it's held out a good alternative to just Ultra handing it everywhere one neat details that sprang Azure with hydrant will net you some unique responses truck emitters will do the opposite hydrants drain One battery every one minute 40 seconds and lasts 30 minutes before disappearing it's at this point you may be asking Maya why don't you just activate a bunch of designer devices at once to see how long they last because also because it makes them easier to test I don't really have much to say about steering sticks the way they steer Vehicles is by tilting the entire object at the origin of the steering stick hence why you can steer sleds or carts regardless of if it has a fan or wheels on it to my knowledge it does not have a time limit as for fusions again there's not a whole lot to say small wheels and big wheels are obviously good for traversal as you saw in the intro the rotation of big wheels stack letting you create some interesting contraptions the big wheel has an arrow on it that will update itself to face the right direction kind of like a compass but for a wheel fusing them to weapons simply creates a club and fusing them to Shields doesn't really seem to do much but the active wheels on Shields do allow you to move objects and hit enemies for a whopping of one damage in case you're wondering damaging Shields like Lionel Shields do not increase this damage bows again don't really do much here big wheels drain One battery every 3 minutes and 20 seconds and small wheels are the same it takes 30 minutes for both to disappear sleds are like carts but without wheels they make for great bases for vehicles if you don't want to use other ones and are fantastic for snow and sand if using one to a shield also allows for this making Shield surfing have even less friction fusing to a weapon makes a Guster and arrows don't really do much like the carts they don't appear to have a time limit batteries get a bit weird their fusions do practically nothing but that's to be expected since that's not what they're meant for fusing a single small battery to a single fan lasts 28 seconds fans by themselves normally last 20 seconds so the battery appears to be decreasing the cost of it by around 30 percent this effect for Batteries doesn't stack though as having multiple batteries on a fan still makes it drain in 28 seconds to keep things simple a small battery lasts the same amount of time as one of your batteries a big battery without accounting for the 30 decrease less for a whopping 28 batteries well if my math isn't wrong hopefully it's not Springs Propel you and other objects upwards when struck and stacking multiple intensifies this effect there doesn't appear to be a limit on how many you can stack but I suppose that limit is the ultra hand limit they also get increasingly more wobbly and appear to be less effective with more and more Springs so one or two should do the job in most cases fusing one to a weapon makes it bouncy similarly to a balloon and any mushrooms fusing one to a shield lets you bounce on it destroying the spring in the process this Bounce has the same height as time bombs or any other bomb so it's a good alternative if you can't find or don't have any bombs around blocking an attack with one will send the enemy flying and even reflects projectiles like many Zane devices Bose have no effect from my findings Springs do not appear to have a limit on how many times you can use them cannons shoot cannonballs on limited times which can be handy for hordes of enemies due to not having a limit of explosions some people have even used the Canon as a propellant for vehicles when fused to a weapon you can throw a cannonball when attacking or power attacking making these especially handy for mining large outcrops of rocks holding out one on a shield lets you shoot a cannonball once every three seconds so I don't recommend using this in the middle of combat unless you want things to get really chaotic when fused to tune Arrow it has the same effect as a bomb error upon Landing they consume 90 of an energy cell every three seconds and lasts for 30 minutes before disappearing stabilizers forced anything they're attached to to go upright and placing two opposite of each other like this can create a low gravity effect fusing onto a weapon creates a hammer as we know breaking rocks and ore is easier sadly there doesn't appear to be any unique effect for bows or Shields they drain at a rate of 1 minute 40 seconds per battery and last 30 minutes before disappearing hover Stones well hover a neat trick you can do with these is to place them at the bottom of Hudson signs to hold them up allowing you to clear 90 of Hudson signs with just hover stones attaching one to a weapon makes it a hammer of course breaking rumors and rocks easier when throwing the weapon it will place said hoverstone and let you pick the weapon back up sadly fusing one to a shield doesn't let you hover I guess link is just too heavy for it however fusing one to an arrow allows you to place one on the spot making it easier to ascend upwards or place one midair [Music] it consumes One battery every one minute 40 seconds and lasts 30 minutes lights they're okay for dark areas like the depths but you're really just better off using bright blooms instead using one to a weapon simply increases the damage with shields and Bows not really doing much either it drains One battery every one minute 40 seconds and lasts for 30 minutes before disappearing Stakes are a very solid Sonic device allowing you to prop up basically anything at any angle if you're creative you can do some crazy stuff with them too when hit it will chime a musical note depending on how deep it is in the surface allowing you to make songs use of them is the prop other objects up so you can make Vehicles easier when fused to a weapon it makes it into a hammer and also looks like a pickaxe Shield fusions do nothing unfortunately but aerofusions allow you to stick stakes and surfaces from a distance this does not apply to throne weapons though they do not expire nor consume energy [Music] is focused on reflect light from other beams or even sunlight this light will blind any enemy it hits similarly to the effect of Dazzle fruit fusing one to a weapon simply makes it into a club and fusing one to a shield will make it only emit light when The Shield is out Bose unfortunately don't seem to have any effect they do not consume energy and last for 30 minutes before despawning Oh and by the way it was at this point that I found out the hard way that zone devices have unlimited duration inside shrines humming carts are neat little devices trekking onto any enemy it sees and hitting them for one damage this damage can be increased by attaching others on eye devices to it placing them upside down in a series can create a sort of conveyor belt moving objects but not link using them to a weapon creates a hammer which I'm already sure you know what hammers do if using them to a shield lets you surf on it the cart still needs a slant to gain any real speed and the increased durability damage to Shields doesn't really make them any better than using a standard cart shooting bows does nothing they consume a battery every 1 minute 40 seconds and last for 30 minutes finally we have construct heads these guys will face the direction of any nearby enemy making them good for automated turrets and vehicles any Zona devices on top of them won't activate until it sees an enemy so you can stay safe knowing you won't waste energy keeping an emitter or a cannon active [Music] construct heads will consume a battery every 1 minute 40 seconds and lasts 30 minutes
