hey guys welcome back if you're new here my name is becca and today i have my 2020 christmas wishlist unboxing [Music] so today i'm going to be opening all of the parcels that you guys have sent me from my wishlist before i get started with this i would just like to say thank you thank you guys so much if you have chosen to send me anything for christmas or from my wish list i do truly appreciate it i am feeling a little bit blown away and a little bit overwhelmed this year because there is a lot we have a couple stats but behind me and the floor around me i am not exaggerating when i say that it is covered so i i don't even know how many parcels are here i've tried to count them multiple times but it's really hard the last time i counted i got 36 so we're looking at over 35 parcels here and honestly i am just so overwhelmed and so thankful this is also the last video that i'm going to be posting before christmas day i will be posting more videos before the end of the year but i would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you guys so much for supporting my channel throughout 2020 thank you for your generosity for subscribing to my channel for watching my right in front of me where the box is kind of exploding open so i guess that's a great place to start so this one has just completely fallen apart so let's have a little look see what this one is oh this one is the witching hour by anne rice which is the first book in the lives of the mafia which is series and this one is from tracy thank you so much tracy tracy is a wonderful wonderful human she has been subscribed for quite some time to my channel and he's just very supportive so the witching hour by anne rice the reason that this was on my wish list is that my patreon group are actually going to be doing a read along of this trilogy these books are enormous they all stemmed from a conversation we were having about interview with a vampire which i have and i haven't read yet and my patreon group decided that they wanted to do a read along of this series i believe that there are three books so in my patreon discord i don't even actually know if i'm going to be participating in it yet because of how big these books are but it will be happening through january february and march so i don't actually know what this is about i just got this so that i could participate and i may actually try and catch up in february because i have less chunky books to read in february so literally the only synopsis that this has is on the veranda of a great new orleans house now faded a mute and fragile woman sits rocking and the witching hour begins sounds ominous i've heard excellent things about amrit not her as a person but her as an author i definitely want to read at least one of her books in 2021 but i currently don't know whether it will be this or interview with vampire this one is from linda hey becca i hope you have a wonderful christmas you work so hard and totally deserve it and ps i am sending you multiple books since i know your wish list is only open for a little while lol from linda linda you all know linda i scream linda's name way too frequently but she has sent me oops the boy on the bridge by mr carey this is a prequel or companion novel to the girl with all the gifts which is a dystopian book it's a zombie apocalypse book it's multi-perspective but one of the characters it follows is this girl who is a zombie and they have her in this lab where they've been testing on zombie children to see if they can figure out a cure to this zombie apocalypse i enjoyed it i didn't love it as much as i expected to but i am intrigued to read this which doesn't say which one it is no it does not say on the back whether it is a companion or a prequel but regardless i do know that it is set in the same world oh this one is a heavy one and this one is from rebecca who is one of my patrons thank you so much rebecca so this says merry what these are they're both similar looking so i think i have an idea yes this is the second two books in the shades of magic series by fee schwab so i believe the second one is a gathering of shadows and the last one is a conjuring of light so this is a series that follows a guy called kell who is an atari and he can travel between parallel versions of london one day when he is doing this he takes an artifact with him that he shouldn't be moving and this causes a whole ton of trouble so i have read the first two books before i do enjoy this series but it's not like my favorite series and then i never read the last one you guys probably know i'm currently buddy reading v schwab's books with jade from j ray reads this may be the next series that we pick up i do want the first one these are the uk collectors editions and i wanted the second two so that i can read them these ones are pretty cool actually because they have oh i didn't know that they had art under the dust jacket but they do also have the silhouette under the dust jacket in foil as well looking at this one this one also has our i'm no questioning whether the coffee i have of the first book has out under the dust jacket because i actually um i i didn't know that that was a thing so next we will go for this little one i don't have a gift no okay we have no gift note with this one this is the first one without a gift no if you have sent me this then please let me know this one is daisy miller and the turn of the screw by henry james so this is one of the penguin english library editions which is the editions of classics that i collect this one does include daisy miller but i didn't want this one for daisy miller it is the turn of the screw that i want to read because i recently binged both the haunting of hill house and the haunting of blind mana i already own the haunting of hill house by shirley jackson which season one of that tv show is based on and then the spin-off for haunting the blind mana is based on the turn of the screw by henry james as far as i'm aware from the tv show the turn of the screw is about a woman who goes to look after two children at this manor house and she starts to see strange figures around the house and the grounds but that is from the show i do believe that the show will be at least a little bit different from the book regardless i'm really excited to read this one so thank you so much to whoever sent this one to me this is literally the worst box to open this one is another one from linda thank you again linda this one says hey becca saw this on your wishlist and had to buy it for you after we talked about it ah this one is a kiss of shadows by laurel k hamilton i believe i added this because i was talking about it to linda so this is a series i believe has been recommended to me numerous times i wasn't going to pick this up immediately because it is an adult urban fantasy series and i have already started the suny starcraft series i am about to start the fever series and then i also have a couple of others on my shelves i want to start like the nalini singh books and things like that but i was looking up fantasy romance and fear romance and this is the first book in a fairy romance series and like i said it has been recommended to me so this one says meet meredith gentry exotic decadent deadly private investigator princess in hiding half human half fairy sometimes you have to stop running to start fighting back three years in hiding and it looks like mary gentry's secret is out can she keep her real identity hidden to live the life she wants to lead or to live full stop so yeah this is a fairy romance urban fantasy series it has been recommended to me i believe because i like crescent city which makes sense if she is half human half fairy and also the private investigator thing and yeah i hope i enjoy this one when i get to it and this one is from ashley i know you love this but to be honest i just needed your address for the other books i'm really confused now okay let me let me have a look let's have more gift notes right i don't believe that this one was on my wish list okay let's see what's in here oh wow okay so i do have other gift notes in here let's see what they say because you need this merry happy christmas thank you for recommending such amazing books this year oh it's ash from the book sloth so this one says just a small thank you for hosting the live show for deadly dreams i had so much fun asking questions and laughing at balls yes y'all you have a huge fan in houston texas from match the books okay so the first one goes in rat queen's volume four this is a comic book series that i have been reading i'm really enjoying it follows a band of boozy battle maidens for hire and the story starts off where they've been thrown in jail for causing a bar fight and it's kind of one indiscretion too many and to get out of jail they have to perform requests for the realm really funny really diverse the art has changed yeah it starts to change in this volume and i do definitely prefer the art that it started out with however they did get rid of their old illustrator for very valid reasons um so i can't really fault them on that just personal preference i prefer their old artist so i've been more reluctant i guess to continue but i do really love the story and the characters in here so then we have the ally of law by brandon sanderson and this is the is this the first book in second era miss born so i don't know too much what this one is about first year miss bonn is about a man called kelsia who is putting together this band of underground alamancers and another miss born vin to take down the final empire and an alamancer is somebody who can use magical abilities based on metals that they ingest second era miss bond i believe follows wax and wayne and it's kind of like a western story but that is all i know about it because i'm not that far in yet i've only read the first book of the first era and this one is the one that says because you need this so thank you once again ash and then the final one the note for this one is a small thank you for hosting the live show for deadly dreams so this looks like an indie i'm going to assume it's an indie fantasy romance and i've never heard of this have i heard of this were we talking about this in the live show it is possible this one is called trickery and it is the first book in the curse of the gods series by jamin eve and jane washington and it says there's a fine line between a gift and a curse i am literally just going to read the back of this because i have never heard of it but it says willa knight dweller slave non-magical being in minasol being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt in fact dirt may actually be more useful than willa her life will be one of servitude to the souls and the magic blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods at least her outer village is far emerged from the cities of the souls and she wants lav falls to present herself to them until one small mistake changes everything and willa is awarded a position to serve at blesswood at the top soul academy in the world interesting a position that she definitely did not earn under the sudden watchful eye of the god she will be tasked to serve the abcurs brothers ab curse do they have cursed abs that would be great five souls built of arrogance perfection and power they are almost gods themselves and under their survey she is either going to end up sentenced to death or else they are going to ruin her so badly that she will wish for it either way she is in trouble honestly thank you so much for this i am thriving and i cannot wait to read it this one is from tracy it says i loved watching your channel and wanted to get you a gift for this christmas your channel has helped keep me sane during this crazy year from tracy thank you so much i'm glad that my channel has been helpful during the hellscape that is 2020. and this one is the falconer by elizabeth may so this is a book that i always assumed was just kind of like a general young adult fantasy however it came to my attention a couple of months ago that this may actually be more of a fantasy romance type situation so i believe from the synopsis something i didn't know about this is that i believe it is set in edinburgh but the main character seems to be a lady whose mother is murdered by a fairy so she makes it her life's mission to hunt fairies but something changes the equilibrium of that honestly i have heard great things about this it was kind of on my radar but i did think it was kind of just standard young girl fantasy and then i heard it maybe a fantasy romance so really excited to get to this one this one is from ben thank you so much ben ben is one of my patrons he is a delightful got you this is as well what else is in here ben go use this as well because apparently i need to send you something on your wish list to send you something that's not on it right what if you sent me that's not on my wish list then the one that he got me that is on my wish list is layla by colleen hoover i really like colleen hoover i have liked the majority of what i've read from her some of her stuff is just okay but i have really loved some of her books and this i think is her 2020 book if i am correct yes this one was her 2020 release is one of the ones that she has indie published so it's a self-published book leads why is the guy called leeds so this is about a guy called leeds and a woman called layla and he has fallen madly in love with her i do believe that the main perspective in this is the male character leads which is not usual for colleen hoover but layla is in an accident and when she physically recovers it's quite apparent that she has not mentally and emotionally recovered from this accident so he was her way to the bed and breakfast where they met and things start to take a sinister turn while that is happening he is starting to grow closer to somebody else in the bed and breakfast so thank you very much ben for this really excited to read it i have read colleen hoover's romantic thriller verity very recently and loved it so i'm really excited to read another book from her that has like a little bit of a sinister undertone to it this one is not from my wish list actually this one is a review copy that has been sent to me by the author i was actually going to email her the other day and ask if she had sent it to me via amazon because if so it would have ended up with all of these well what better place to mention it this one is queen of empire by hr more i believe that this was published a little while ago and it has just been re-released but it is a self-published fantasy romance so when harriet reached out to me and asked if i would review this of course i said yes so it seems perfect for fans of jennifer l armentrout and sarah j maas as you guys know i'm a fan of both anita has never been ordinary she's been special her entire life not only can she see the energy of others a rare skill but she's won every physical challenge she's ever entered so when the powerful good-looking descendants marcus and alexander mysteriously arriving empire her difference attracts and keeps their attention once in empire the sudden death of ruling body descendant christiana sets in motion a number of events a quest for the treacherous austin to find the girl christiana have been looking for a challenge where anita stands out more vibrantly than ever before a perilous dip in the world's energy and a dangerous belief among the people that they will never truly be free powerful factions form within the ruling elite and when a trusted friend and mentor reaches out to ask for anita's help she has to make a choice help her friend and betray the one she loves or do nothing and watch people starve so this one sounds really interesting obviously fantasy romance i really want to read this and thank you so much harriet for sending this to me oh this one is in a gift bag this one is from zoe thank you so much zoe this one says merry christmas have a lovely relaxing time your videos have been such a good part of my year and i found some great books thanks to you so i wanted to give you a little something to say thanks thank you so much both for your kind words and also this lovely gift which i'm really excited to get into i think the amazon gift bags are really pretty this year oh this is assassin's apprentice by robin hobb this is the first book in the farsia trilogy and i have already read this because my book club catch up book club are doing a readalong of the entire realm of the early series by robin hobb which is the whole 15 books that are set in the same universe so this one follows a boy called fitz who is a bastard and his grandfather has had enough of him and he drops him off on the keep and says that it's time for him to go back to the man who fathered him the man who fathered him is the prince in waiting prince chivalry and when fitz arrives at the castle to meet his father chivalry has already left because he knew fitz was coming and he found his behavior dishonorable abdicated the throne and disappeared so from then nobody really knows what to do with fitz and he is raised kind of by parts of the royal family and also by a stable master called boric until the king decides that he is going to be trained to be the royal assassin really love this book really love all of robin hobb's books this one contains some absolutely beautiful illustrations and seeing as robin hobb is fast to becoming one of my favorite authors i knew that i wanted a little bit of a more special edition of her book so thank you so much to zoey for sending this my way this one is from jamie jamie is another one of my patrons i adore jamie thank you so much merry christmas dear i hope you have a good one i hope you have a good one too with jamie and i'm sure you will because we all know how bougie you are this one is regretting you by colleen hoover thank you so much jamie this is another one of her indie ones is she just totally indie now if anybody's like up to date on polynomial books then please let me know this one is about a mother-daughter relationship it is one of her more recent ones this could be her 2019 release not one where the synopsis immediately grabbed me but i have just discovered with colin whoever i may as well just pick them all up and read them because um i'm getting to the stage where i've read a considerable amount of her books already so this follows a 16 year old girl and her mother and the mother does not want her daughter to follow in her footsteps get pregnant really young something which she feels completely ruined her life the daughter doesn't really like her mother very much she finds her to be very strict but the one thing that kind of holds them together and holds their family together is chris who is the partner of the mother and the father of the girl would have been much easier if i'd have just discovered their names and explained it that way but anyway chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident and the two then have to find a way to co-exist without him there to kind of smooth the edges of that relationship this one is from monica i've been a long time viewer and i just wanted you to know how much i appreciate you and your videos merry christmas from monica thank you so much this one is oh the wicker king by kay angram i have been desperate for this book for so long i kept making waterstones orders and checking to see if it was in stock to add to my basket and it never was so this is a fantasy book i think but also a contemporary book i think i know it deals with mental health and i know it deals with two friends it is a young adult book i think if you look at the edges on this they start off normal and they start to deteriorate as you go through the book i believe that that has something to do with one of the characters mental health so this follows two teenage boys who are very different ones like a football player and the golden boy and the other one is a misfit um one starts to have increasingly vivid hallucinations and the other one tries to help him at the best he can by believing in the fantasy kingdom that creeps into the edges of the real world and yeah this sounds really interesting i have heard excellent things about this also just realized did not know this it is also mixed media which you guys know i love a book told in an interesting format so thank you so much monica for this i've just heard really great things about this and i'm really excited to read it i'm really excited to read a book from kate and from as well i really wanted to read one for quite some time but i believe that her other book the weight of stars is kind of tied to this a little bit so you should read this first like you don't have to they both stand on their own if you want the full experience which i always do you should read the wiki king first this one is from kitty thank you so much kitty kitty is another one of my patrons this one says i hope you enjoy heard such good things about this which one is it oh the house in the cerulean sea by tj clue and i have also heard excellent things about this so this is an adult book an adult fantasy i think that is for people who really like middle grade so it has middle grade themes i've heard that it is incredibly heartwarming i don't think i've seen a single person dislike this book this follows a man who works for this company or like the government where they make sure that children in orphanages are being looked after properly and this man is sent to an orphanage which is the house in the cerulean sea to check on these children to make sure that they are safe because they are a danger to the world i believe they have some quite powerful abilities i do enjoy middle grade but i'm not an enormous fan so i feel like something like this which is an adult book that has strong middle grade themes and is apparently wonderful maybe something that i'm really into and really enjoy so thank you so much kitty for this one this one is from nicole thank you so much nicole and this one oh this one is the collector's edition of shadow and bone by leigh bardugo so i do have the collector's editions of six of crows and crooked kingdom so i never thought that they would actually make the grocery trilogy into a collector's edition but seeing as they did and it kind of goes with the same theme as the six of crows duology i definitely wanted a copy this is the first book in the grish trilogy which follows a girl called alina starkov who is in the army everybody is drafted into the army in this world because the country of ravka is very vulnerable as it is bisected by this shadowy area called the shadowfold which is full of monsters and one day when alina goes into the shadowfeld she realizes that she has these mysterious powers and she is taken to the grisham academy where she is taught to control these i actually still really enjoy the grisha trilogy i think it's kind of trophy because of when it was published and typical conventions of the genre but for what it is for the time it was published i do feel like it was a very solid trilogy i really enjoy it and i'm really happy to have this so thank you so much nicole oh this one's from kennedy who is another one of my patrons thank you so much kennedy what would christmas be with a few demons on a paranormal romance interesting so this one is oh infernal magic by c n crawford okay so if you search fairy romance on goodreads or amazon or anything like that you do typically come across books by cn crawford however when i was investigating these on goodreads it seems that every book that sian crawford have written st crawford i believe are a writing duo they're all in this extended universe so i tracked it all the way back to the beginning of the extended universe and i got infernal magic this is the first book in the demons of fire and night series as well as being the first book in this massive extended universe so i knew that the first series and this big extended universe was something to do with demons we're following a girl called ursula who has been introduced to hellhounds this girl has a problem with amnesia and she may have struggled hugging with a fire goddess so she has to choose between striking another bargain with this fire goddess or training to be a hellhound and then on top of that there are dark seductive demons hell bent on destroying them honestly it sounds like a wild ride not sure what to expect from this but i would quite like to read at least a few of san crawford's books see if they are for me and this is the starting point so thank you so much kennedy for sending and i hope you enjoy the book love barbara thank you so much so this one is the inheritance by robin hobb i think robin hobb is megan lindholm and she has written under that name as well i think that that is the deal with this one so all i really know about this is that it is a collection of short stories it is an anthology of tales from the six dutches and beyond i'm not sure whether all of these stories in this book are associated with the realm of the elderlings but i do know at least some of them are so i wanted this so that i could figure out where the novellas go we have a touch of lavender silver lady and the 40ish man cut the fifth squashed cat strays feeney finney finnish drum machine homecoming the inheritance and cats me so yeah quite quite a few in here i need to figure out what these are if they are all associated with the elderlings if they are where they go in the elderling series and kind of read them in order as i do go through the expansive 16 book series so thank you so much barbara for sending this to me i'm really excited to read this read more from robin hobb as i mentioned with assassin's apprentice she is fast becoming one of my favorite authors so even though i don't like short stories all that much because i'm so deep into the elderlings world i do kind of want to read everything that's available this one is from jenna thank you so much jenna one is oh deal with the elf cake by elise gover oh my god to be fair i don't even know if this is good because i haven't heard any actual reviews of this yet but this has been getting a lot of hype there are tons of elise covert books i want to read because i am a sucker for a self-published fantasy book with a beautifully illustrated cover and this is a beautifully illustrated cover there have been tons of release code books on my radar but this one has been getting a lot of buzz it is a standalone fantasy romance with a happy ending and it is it says a married to magic novel so i think there is going to be more of these fantasy books that are kind of standalones within a series and you guys know me fantasy romance fairy king how could i resist this so thank you so much jenna for sending this to me i am really excited and this is even more stunning in person than i thought it was to start off with also sorry for not really giving you a synopsis to this she makes a deal with the elf king that's all i needed to know this one's a little chunky one oh i already i've already seen what these are do i have gift notes these ones are from chloe so thank you so much chloe chloe's are two kind of reference books mythology books these ones are the unicorns and the mermaids mythology books so i mentioned these a little while ago and there is a whole set of these i think there's nine in total claire gifted me at the fairies one and i'm really dying to read the fairy's one actually but these are just collections of the law the mythology the legends that surround ouch that surround these particular fantastical creatures i just really want to learn more about things like fairies especially and i want to see like where they originated from in folklore and how that has evolved through the literature i'm consuming like my fairy romance and then i mean i'm a sucker for magical creatures so i'm really excited to read these thank you so much chloe this one is from ronan another one of my patrons once again thank you so much ronan i just wanted to send you a little something to say how amazing you are thank you i enjoy your videos so much and all the fun times in the discord uh so ronan has sent me gargantus by thomas taylor this is the sequel to malamanda which is a book that gavin from australia gavin sent me way back last year i think i read it a little bit earlier this year sometime in the summer and it follows a boy called herbie lemon who is the lost and founder of the grand nautilus hotel and one day a girl called violet palmer hops throws window claims that she is lost and needs to be found and they are looking for violet's parents but while they're doing that they encounter the legendary malamanda so i believe that gargantus is going to be another kind of mythological creature in this world because they live in a place called irian sea which is a seaside holiday town that is all cheerful in summer and then really kind of spooky in winter i thought that the atmosphere in malamanda was phenomenal i lived in a seaside town for like five years and i know how truly tragic it is in winter i think thomas taylor captured the atmosphere perfectly so i'm really excited to read this one and thank you ronan this one is from megan who is another one of my patrons thank you so much megan this is merry christmas hope you have a great day wishing you all the best this one is a chunky hard box this is real heavy oh this one is royal assassin the illustrated edition so this is the sequel to assassin's apprentice um i'm excited to see the illustrations in this one oh hello once again we have some beautiful illustrations in here and yeah this is the second book in the farsia trilogy thank you so much megan before sending this to me i'm really happy to have this the next one is from brittany long time watcher just wanted to give you something since you spend so much time giving your subscribers something to watch multiple times a week thank you so much brittany oh this one is oh the tracy tweet the the the traitor queen by danielle l jensen i am so excited to read this so this is the sequel to the bridge kingdom which is a self-published fantasy romance about a girl who has lived in this secluded desert with her 11 sisters i think and in the very first chapter she kills them all it's quite shocking they have all been trained to become the heir to this kingdom the bridge kingdom because the bridge kingdom controls the bridge and all the trade across all of these kingdoms is reliant on this bridge so these princesses have pretty much been trading undercover to eventually assassinate the king of the bridge kingdom through a marriage alliance so the king will select the one who has performed the best in all of these like assassination challenges to go and marry the king of the british kingdom and eventually kill him so the main character is the one who is going to marry this king and it's a fantasy romance we see where this is going but i really loved it quite slow moving i liked love interest but it was slow compared to what i'm familiar with with fantasy romance but this is definitely more of a high fantasy romance and the end was real shocking and i i want to see what's happening in this one and yeah everything that's going on i'm really excited so thank you very much brittany and the last of these three is from vev thank you berthev is somebody who has been watching my channel for a very long time she is absolutely wonderful thank you so much bev oh this is offia orphia i think that's right by joanne m harris joanne m harris i have read some of her books that are published under joanne harris well i see some of i've read chocolate i never thought that this was actually the same author until i actually went and checked it was definitely the same author who wrote shukla but she has written quite a lot of fantasy she's written some fantasy that's based on norse mythology but it always seems to be a little bit more like literary fantasy to me and especially as i've read chocola i've never really been sure if i will enjoy her as a fantasy author but this one is a fairy story so i thought if i was gonna give anything from her a try it may as well be this so this is the story of a mother who is setting off on this quest to find her lost daughter i'm not sure whether her daughter has been kidnapped by the fade but i think that this is going to be very beautifully written oh it's also illustrated which i did not know but just one of the paragraphs on the synopsis says so begins a beautiful and tragic quest as a heartbroken mother sets out to save her lost daughter through the realms of the real of dream and even into the underworld itself so yeah i'm not sure how i'm gonna feel about this oh wow it has beautiful end pages but if i'm ever gonna read anything by joanna m harris may as well be a fairy book and thank you so much bev for sending this one to me this one is from brandy thank you so much brandi brandi is another one of my patrons and brandi is just honestly wonderful we talk about final fantasy a lot so i thought you'd enjoy a little extra i know what this is i don't know what it is but i know that it's not a book and brandy you should not have done this essentially i have another wish list that my best friend ryan asked me to make publix i made all of my wishlist private and he asked me to make this one public because it is a list that i keep for me personally to take note of the video games i want because i am quite slow playing video games because i don't have a lot of time to do it so i have a list of all the video games that have been released that i haven't bought yet so that when i finish whatever i'm currently playing i can go to the list see what it is that i want and buy one so ryan asked me to make it public so that he could see and maybe buy me something for christmas and i didn't realize that if you can see one of my wishlists you can see all of them and brandy's bought me something off our other wish list and it's the final one is these seven remake brandy why did you do this oh my god so i have never played final fantasy vii i have played a little bit of eight the first one i played was ten which is my favorite game of all time and i'm currently replaying that so i've played ten which is x x two which is the sequel to ten i've played the first part of 13 i played 12 9 and a little bit of a but i've never played seven and because i've been waiting for this for like 10 years because i knew a remake was in the works so i never bothered to buy the playstation one version and play that and then it was released and i bought it so thank you so much brandi i may play this after final fantasy 10 the only thing that's putting me off new final fantasy is i prefer a turn-based combat system as opposed to the new combat systems which to me just are not final fantasy and i kind of wish they'd remade this with really good graphics as a term based game as it was originally alas that is not the case but i'm excited to see the graphics in this final fantasy 7 advent children is one of my favorite movies of all time as well so i am familiar with the final fantasy 7 world thank you so much brandi you really just did not need to do this thank you oh so i've already seen what this is because the spine was like right there um but this one is from harriet thank you so much harriet the no it says merry christmas love your videos and your candles are my favorite cozy tree and the book that harriet has sent me is the beast warrior by nahoko uehashi which i think is an almost right pronunciation so this is the sequel to beast player which is one of my favorite books of 2018 and it follows a girl called elin when she's young her mother is tasked with looking after these big warrior snakes and when they all mysteriously die her mother is blamed for it so her mother sends elin away so that she is not also punished for these mistakes it's a really slow moving ghibli-esque story but the crux of the series and the eventual plot of this series is that elin happens upon a creature called the royal beast which is kind of like a big flying wolf thing and she can communicate with these animals however she does not want people to know that she can communicate with them because she's worried that people may try and weaponize them so it's like a real slow real beautiful story it's translated from japanese and i believe that each book translated into english is two books of the original japanese novels may have to reread the beast player though before i can continue but thank you so much harriet for sending this to me i hope i enjoy this as much as i did the first one this one is from lisa hey becca great vlog although i don't think kelsey will be happy she didn't make you cry half her half of christmas love lisa so this must have been sent to me after the vlog where i read deadly dreams which was a few weeks ago but lisa has got me oh the magician's guild by trudy canavan so tradie canavan is an author who has many series that are all kind of in the same world i think or at least two of her series intersex and i believe that the magician's guild is the starting point for her books i need to stop buying like adult fantasy with big intersecting series but this is the first book in the black magician trilogy i do have the prequel book which is that called the magician's apprentice but i've been told that the best place to read that is not actually before the series and that this is about starting place so in this world every year a bunch of magicians get rid of like the homeless people the like vagabonds miss crayons off the streets of this city and they have this impenetrable shield as they do it however one year when they are doing this a angry little girl who is angry at her people are being treated throws a stone that passes through the shield and renders a magician unconscious i believe that the fact that her stone passes through the shield indicates that this little girl is in fact a magician but she is a wild untrained magician on the street so the guild of magicians is trying to hunt her down one of my friends from uni recommended this to me many years ago and i did kind of intend to read it but never got around to it i wasn't reading too much adult fantasy at the time anyway and then some of you guys have also recommended trudy caravan to me so i think that there is a possibility that i will really enjoy this because i've been pretty much enjoying all of the adult fantasy i've been reading and i'm excited to give this one a try this one is from the wonderful oscar it says hi becca better to have two gifts than just one right i hope you enjoy it hooked from barcelona from oscar and the other note says i wish you have a merry christmas i have been following your channel for a while now and i wanted to give you something that i also enjoy i hope you like it thank you so much oscar for these and they are two volumes of the dream in sun manga so i have kind of fallen in love with this series these are volumes three and four i've already read volumes one and two i for some reason even though i don't like normal contemporary fiction i really love contemporary manga and this is a story that is kind of like a young adult new girl there is a girl who doesn't have a great home life at the minute because her father has remarried and they have a baby and she's feeling kind of pushed out so she decides she wants to run away from home she comes across this guy in the park who says that he can live with her if she fulfills three conditions the first one is to tell him why she ran away the second is to find his missing house key and the third is to have a dream and fall in love and she ends up in this apartment with two boys who go to her school and this guy who was drunk in the park called the landlord and it's just really funny like she has a crush on one of them and is trying to do something about that and it's just really sweet really wholesome really funny i really enjoy the series thank you so much oscar for gifting me two volumes of this this one is from bobby bobby is one of my patrons bobby it's also wonderful very sarcastic i adore bobby i will link bobby's channel in my description box as well thank you so much so one of these notes says one of my faves i think you're going to love it and the other one says we are all here for the cringe and drama you have to read it just so you understand the hype i'm not sure what these are let's get one of them out the first one is flo was in the attic by virginia andrew so i have never read this i believe that cody from cody's book corner has read this and really not enjoyed it because it's not an enjoyable book but it is one that is very talked about i believe from the discussion i actually had in my patreon discord after this is that all of virginia andrews books contain incest and this is a very well-known book i'm trying to think what my patrons said about it so there are four children in the attic and in the history of this a woman married this guy that her parents didn't approve of and because he's either left or died or something like that she has to move back in with her parents but they don't approve of the children so she keeps the children in the attic and they start an incestuous relationship i believe we were joking in my discords i said i didn't know what this was about i just knew that it contained incest and then bobby told me that that was actually pretty much the plot so thank you so much for that when i said i wanted to read that the reactions were kind of really mixed some people said it was awful they hated it was disgusting and some people said it was really interesting really dark really taboo while also being like quite twisted but i'm really excited to see what i think about it and the other one is the southern book club's guide to slaying vampires by grady hendricks which i always struggle to say the name of this one as you guys may have just noticed i have read two books by grady hendrix now both of them just a couple of months ago they were my best friends exorcism and horror store i want to read more from grady hendrix and from the ones i haven't read yet this one sounded the most interesting this follows a woman who is part of a true crime book club and after the main character is attacked by her elderly neighbor his nephew enters the story however children start to go missing and the main character patricia starts to expect that this mysterious stranger has something to do with i mean i'm guessing he's a vampire based on the title but i didn't really pick this based on the synopsis i picked it because i've enjoyed grady hendrix before so thank you very much bobby for these two just to clarify as well this one is the one that poppy says we are all here for the cringe and the drama um and this one is the one that is one of her favorites there are two books in this one and these ones are from jessica thank you very much jessica okay jessica messaged me on twitter and said that she would be sending me a gift but also that she would be sending me something not on my wishlist as well and it was her favorite fairy romance so like i'm really excited to see what it is the fairy robots are the first one i pulled out actually i have seen this before this is fighting destiny the first book in the fake chronicles so as i mentioned earlier i am a sucker for a self-published book with a really nice cover sadly while this is a self-published book and one that i see very high on lists of fair romance it doesn't have all that nicer cover which is why you haven't been super drawn to it but this one says have you ever heard of the old celtic legends of the fae beautiful magical and deadly creatures that have a love of messing with humans just for kicks and giggles welcome to my world oh so these fae seem to be like trickster tricksters what started out as a strange assignment led to one of the most gruesome murder mysteries of our times my friends and i are set and determined to find out who is killing or fame which is alike a couple of problems in the way i hate the fae and the prince of the dark fae is bound to determine that i work for him he's a rude overbearing egotistical ass with a compulsive need to possess dominate and control me oh did i mention that he is absolutely sex on a stick gorgeous and he makes me feel things i never ever wanted to feel for a fae every time he touches me or looks at me with those dangerous golden eyes he seems to pull me further in under his spell despite my better judgment my friends and i can't trust anyone and nothing is as it seems on the surface not even me it's highly esteemed if you look up faye rowan so i'm interested in reading this um thank you very much jessica for this one i'm always honestly i'm always up for people opening like broadening my horizons in the terms of fantasy romance in general but especially fairy romance because i mean come on guys you all know who i am here and then the other one jessica sent me is dark lover by j award okay so fantasy romance or paranormal romance i guess this one is the first book in the black dagger brotherhood even before i was into fantasy romance and looking into it a lot i heard excellent things about this everybody goes wild for the black dagger brotherhood and i can't lie all i know about it is that it is a vampire romance and on the back it says we are following the last purebred vampire left on the planet wrath and one of his most trusted fighters is killed so he is ushering his half-breed daughter in to the world of the undead i'm interested to see what all the hype is about with this one guys um and thank you so much to jessica for these two lovely hopefully i think they're both smarty i mean i'm gonna say that that one is definitely smarty and i know for sure that this one is so thank you for all the fantasy smart oh my god it came off in one strip this one is more more from you guys know mass trash do i need to do a synopsis of this has been so long since i've had to the akita series follows a girl called pharah who is a mortal girl one day when she is hunting for food for her family she shoots a wolf that is actually a phase shifter and the high lord of the spring courts in the fairy realm comes to claim her life in place for the one that she's taken and takes her off to the supreme court to live out the rest of her days this is book three and this is the novella that bridges the gap between the first trilogy and the second trilogy the first book of which was released in april and i'm so excited they have had a cover change because they are trying to kind of ease it out of young girl into adult because it should have been a tool to start off with i'm not a huge fan of these covers but as the next trilogy is going to be published in these as well i wanted a second set and i know i shouldn't have done because i already have the first trilogy in hardback and the collector's edition but sarah j maas is like my favorite author so i do kind of collect her books like i have multiple different editions of crescent city as well and just all sorts of stuff she is my favorite author i don't hoard multiple copies of books very often the best things about these i think is that the um under dos jacket like the actual hardcover is brightly colored and i do you know i like the color of them i just i don't know i don't love the cover change but i do think they're actually pretty nice covers but thank you so much jessica i am shooker okay so i know that first book of which was published in four installments over the summer which were a whisper in the dark a light in the dusk a memory in the flame and a sacrifice in the smoke this has one of those beautiful like mac covers that self-published books tend to have i really like it i have read all of these i really enjoyed it not quite as much as fortuna but that would be hard to do because i adore fortuna but this follows a vampire princess called charlie travesty and in this world sometime around your 23rd birthday when you go to sleep you will wake up your eyes will have changed colour if you're a vampire and the colour of your eyes would know which sector of the city you will spend the rest of your life in and when charlie wakes up her eyes are a different color than anybody expected and it sets off like this whole chain of events so yeah i did really enjoy this i'm excited for the second part to be released i think it will be next summer and actually jessie and kelsea are hosting a read-along of this starting soon i think it was announced like yesterday so i'll try and find the information for that and link that in my description box if you guys are interested and thank you so see what we have here so the first one is unearthed by amy kaufman and megan spooner this is the first book in the second sci-fi series i have the first two books of the first sci-fi series now i have the first two books of the second and i believe that they've just started another one this one like i know it's sci-fi so science is in the title of the genre but this one is a little bit more sciencey i want to say because this is about humanity finding or discovering an alien race and the information they find from the alien race leads them to a planet called gaia and i'm guessing in this based on the synopsis i'm guessing the earth is dying and humans are looking for another place to go i have heard some pretty good things about this i've heard some pretty good things about amy kaufman and megan spooner i've read the illuminae files and also the two books that are out in the aurora cycle by amie kaufman with jay kristoff and seeing as i just generally read a lot of jay kristoff i feel like i should explore some more amy kaufman as well and because she writes so much sci-fi i think it's kind of going to be like in the vein of the illuminae files like some elements will be similar and i'm really excited to read more from her and also read something from megan spooner as well because i've never done that so the next one from linda is the sanderson and this is the many lives of stephen leeds this is a novella series so the first one is called legion which i've read and then we have skin deep and lies of the beholder which i haven't read so this is the story of stephen leeds and steven is incredibly intelligent i think he's like some sort of detective and he can learn things incredibly quickly when he learns these things he kind of manifests them into an identity that he keeps in his head so if somebody comes to him with a particular case and he needs like say he needs an art expert he will have a person that lives in his head who is an expert in art which he will consult to gain the answers that he needs to solve this case i was really intrigued by the first one that i read and even though i don't really like short things or novellas i did really enjoy it so thank you so much linda for sending this to me because i do want to carry on with this series especially because i'm reading so much sanderson just in general the last one from linda hopefully is oh the faceless hot the faith i can never say this the faithless hawk by margaret owen this is the sequel to the merc the i can't say the merciless crow either apparently this is the sequel to the merciless crow which is a young adult fantasy series that has a caste system and all the casts are based on birds so the main character is a crow and a crow can use teeth which is what people pay them so essentially there's a plague in this world the crows take away the corpses from the plague and they are paid in teeth and they can use these teeth to access the magical abilities of the other cast so i think the top cast is the phoenix's so if a crow has a phoenix tooth they can use the phoenix power which is fire in the first book the main character i think she's called phi goes into the city to take out the bodies of the prince and his bodyguard and as they are taking them out of the city they realize that they are actually not alive they think that the prince is trying to be assassinated so they have cooked up this plan to get away from the city so they can rally the allies and there are complications and things the merciless crow is a very hit or miss book with a lot of people i actually really really enjoyed it and i'm so excited to read the sequel i don't know if this is a duology or not i think it might be because i think margaret owen is now working on something completely different so if it is a duology i'm sad about it because i really enjoyed the first book but also it makes it a little bit easier for me to actually complete a series so thank you so much linda for these three in addition to everything else that you've sent me and just everything that you do for me you're truly amazing and i adore you four to go now guys we are in the final stretch i think at this point i have around an hour and a half of footage i apologize for the length of it honestly but i do hope that editing becca has managed to get her together this one is from already have the fifth season and the first book in the dream blood series by nk jemisin i haven't read but a lot of my friends have read this and really likes it and i'm really curious so i don't really know what the plot of this is because it seems a little bit abstract but i believe that this is nk jemisin's love letter to new york city i think it's a fantasy i thought it was a sci-fi but i think it's actually a fantasy and the boroughs of new york have been personified so the characters are like brooklyn queens the bronx manhattan and i'm not sure what is their goal why are they personified yeah i think it does have an abstract plot because nothing in the synopsis actually really tells me what it's about but the last bit of the synopsis says every great city has a soul some are wrenching as myths and others are as new and destructive as children new york city she's got six so really excited about this i've heard great things i've also heard that the audiobook's good as well so i will be listening along to that when i do get around to reading this i may i think this is a standalone so i may actually read this before i read the other nk jemisin books that i've got just because it's less tying because one of the reasons i haven't been reading nk jemisin is i'm currently already in the middle of so many adults high fantasy series i don't really want to be starting more of those types of series until i've wrapped up some of the ones i'm working on so thank you so much becky for sending this to me heard amazing things [Applause] this is from ben this is third book in the bargainer series i've read the first two books and i'm up to the novella in here i love this series it's a noodle fantasy romance series about a woman who is a siren and she has like 300 is it 300 200 black beads and a big bracelet up her arm which represent debts to the bargainer and the first book is told in two timelines so you have the present day where she has all of these beads and then seven years in the past when she was a teenager and she was amassing all of these beads by asking the bargainer for stupid favors just so that she could spend time with him and seven years has passed since the last time she saw the bargainer she assumes he's going to collect his debts at some point but he's just been gone for the last seven years and then he turns up to start to collect his debts and the past timeline he's kind of about why he's left and the present timeline is about why he's come back and desmond flynn is a top tier love interest honestly would recommend if you're into that kind of thing so thank you nicole for this one thank you very much i'm excited to continue this series and then we have desperate measures by katie robert okay so i've been interested in this for quite some time but this kind of came on my radar before i was reading fantasy romance and like small and erotic fiction so i wasn't sure if i was ready but katie robert i believe is a noodle romance writer not normally a noodle fantasy romance writer and this is the first in the wicked villains series which is a series of disney retellings where the princess falls in love with the villain so desperate measures is a romance between jafar and jasmine i have been told as well that this is like bdsm kind of romance and somebody said if you're not into that then you might not like it i've never read a bdsm romance i've had this before like somebody warned me that captive of wolves is a reverse harem i i've never read a reverse harem so i don't know if i like them i'm just going on like through a full like journey exploration of erotic fiction which to be fair about it so thank you for this one really excited to give it a try my first great actually you know i've read 50 shades of grey and i didn't like it but i just don't think that they're very good books so is it because i don't like bdsm or is it because i don't like 50 shades we'll find out when i read desperate measures the next one from nicole there are four books in here oh my god these gods and monsters by jeannie marie now this i saw in my patreon discord because one of my who hello sir sorry one of my while i'm looking at this guy when the plague of all plagues begins its destruction it isn't a miracle cure by scientists or even our military that saves us no our saviors are monsters okay yes i remember i remember what this one is about now so there is a plague and monsters have come to read the world of this plague so the main character jane is actually i'm assuming she's older than i thought she was because i thought this would be like new adult maybe it's a doll because jane's marriage is failing and she is a mother of two so i suppose she could still be really quite young but david and his companions are what our world has dismissed as mere legend so they come across the woman jane i'm assuming that they are the monsters and she is destined to rid the world of darkness but just look at that cover it's absolutely stunning okay so those are the three from nicole that were actually on my wish list what's in the bag based on the theme of this box i'm really excited so excited to try and get in i'm looking through it and i don't recognize the cover it's an indie i don't know if it's romance but it's an indie which is exciting it is called friends with the monsters this is a little bit of a scary cover gather round close where i have a secret to tell late at night while everyone is sleeping dreaming of white nights and fairy tales i'm making friends with the monsters they call to me like fans like right my biggest secret and the scariest monster i know i think i'm the bad guy at billy eilish is singing in my head right now mfmm so male female male male reverse harem novel so let's hope i do like reverse our reams because there's quite a few of them on my radar now with adult themes i'm not recommending for those under 18 i am so sold thank you nicole this is this is a lot this is one hella stack of smart and i'm here for it and my god the final parcel we are at the end guys i'm having a amazing time but good god have i been filming for my
