How WAKANDA FOREVER Sets Up Marvel Phase 5 and Thunderbolts

Baku what are you doing here it's challenge day hey welcome back to screen Crush I'm Ryan Airy black panther wakanda forever left us with lots of dangling plot threads and teases for upcoming shows and movies and I think that it set the stage for a big showdown between wakanda versus the Thunderbolts and a conflict that is going to start with World War III and basically end the world I'm going to break down how this movie sets up certain films in phases five and six and how all of it is going to lead into Kang winning an Avengers the King Dynasty and how The Avengers will fight back and Secret Wars I am very very excited to break this down for you guys but first let's recap what's been happening and exactly what part of the MCU that we're dealing with so we can set the stage for what's to come you see you can actually group all the Marvel projects into very specific categories of you know bleeding to each other a little bit there's magic Multiverse Cosmic street level and Global stories like winter soldier black panther black widow they're more focused on the global aspect the stakes are who gets to run this world Earth her around this world Earth that's it's not never mind so let's look at where Earth stands right now Global Security used to be handled by a Global Security Council that oversaw Shield after the fall of shield and they reveal that the head of the council was a Hydra agent I believe this Council has been disbanded that means that there was no government agency to keep tabs on superheroes giving the Avengers free reign so they may be kind of accidentally destroyed an entire country oopsie still good guys so yep still good guys high five hey how do you know so much about all this Marvel stuff anyways well Doug I'm kind of an MCU these nations signed the sokovia Accords and the Accords would have made people with enhancements work for the government or be arrested or forced into retirement not a great plan as we know there was a huge backlash leading to Heroes fighting each other the Avengers breaking up and so they weren't at full force to fight Thanos after the heroes brought everybody back from the blip the Accords were quietly done away with I remind you that the sokovia courts have been repealed but remember the reason the Accords were signed to begin with was because of public backlash against the heroes and the Accords were probably repealed because the public was so grateful that the Avengers brought everybody back yeah big government just needs to leave those Heroes alone sure but now the world is in a weird gray area where superhumans are basically unpoliced Seahawk is a fascinating show because For the First time we're seeing the Precedence for superhuman law being created plus there are no Avengers around to guide these new Heroes that keep popping up on Disney plus so in lieu of Mentor figures for She-Hulk Miss Marvel and Spider-Man we're seeing the government Crackdown on superhumans and this is the first key to the mcu's eventual World War III damage control the department of damage control started off as Tony Stark helping to create a government Department to clean up after hero battles like The chittari Invasion now we've seen that following the fall of Shield their influence has grown the department of damage control is now in charge of arresting and policing soups and no way home they arrested Peter Parker and then appropriated the start drone technology and then they used those same drones in Ms Marvel to pursue nightlight poop they arrested and imprisoned the Gin in the same prison where Emil Blonsky was kept plus they arrested Jen Walters using Stark tech guns and Stark Sonic cannons that we saw in the Incredible Hulk so the department of damage control is the number one enforcement agency for superheroes on the ground while the agency soared that we saw in one division is tasked with handling bigger Cosmic threats like the Scrolls or Wanda maximoff so following endgame there has been an outpouring of affection for Heroes as evidenced by fan conventions and musicals [Music] Heroes Have once again become celebrities thank you Spiderman but I think we're going to start seeing another backlash John Walker's actions as Captain America spark protest she Hawk got all sorts of blowback from internet trolls and Jay Jonah Jameson is going to keep hitting the airwaves and saying that Spider-Man is a menace and people are already believing him and in wakanda forever we saw that the US government is not happy with no longer being the world's number one superpower but more on them in a bit phase four was all about introducing new Heroes and passing the torch onto a new generation phase five is going to be about upending everyone's worldview there is an event coming that's going to turn the people of the world against the heroes once again ER what's going to happen what is it secret Invasion now in the comics secret invasion was a massive crossover that touched every corner of the Marvel Universe to invade the Earth the Scrolls replaced many Heroes and people in power with their own agents and the show's secret invasion is going to do the same thing it's possible that Maria Hill will be a scroll or that James Rhodes has been a scroll for a while which would make a lot of sense the Scrolls use the blip as an opportunity to infiltrate every level of government I even think the president of the United States might be a scroll well here is the president in the MCU now is it still Hayward from Shawshank Redemption nope not Haywood see I thought the president might be Thunderbolt Ross but a news ticker in wakanda Forever said it's some guy named redson Earthen that guy is a scroll that's what I'm saying high five Secret invasion is going to be the formative event for phases 5 and 6 like Civil War set the tone for phase three Winter Soldier and Civil War undermined the institutions of the MCU first shield then the Avengers and secret invasion is going to show Scrolls infiltrating every level of government of the agency's sword and even in the Superhuman Community after secret Invasion everybody in the world is going to be wondering who can we trust so I think it's likely that Roadie is going to turn out to be a scroll and maybe even Everett Ross and if it's Everett Ross then that means that there will be at least one scroll agent inside of wakanda people are going to blame superheroes for not protecting them especially if some of those Heroes end up being Alien Invaders so if the president turns out to be a scroll what if that allows his vice president Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross to become president whether that happens or not I think Ross is going to be the linchpin character of this Arc of the movies why do you think that well look after William hurt's death they could have just retired the character after all we know that he had a bad heart I had a heart attack I'm dropped right in the middle of my nightswing but instead they cast one of the biggest all-time movie stars Harrison Ford I think this is because Ford's Ross is going to be the antagonist going forward in the comic secret invasion was ended by Norman Osborne you know I'm something of a scientist myself afterwards the government put Osborne in charge of shield now he changed the name to hammer formed his own group of evil Avengers and this was all part of a year-long event called Dark Reign where the villains ruled the world villains exactly I think that will happen here to an extent except Ross is going to be the emerging hero from Secret Invasion and he will get unlimited power to curve and control superhuman activity but isn't that right there sakurvia Accords were yes you're right and the Accords have been repealed but like I said the Accords relied on the popularity of the heroes I think that if the public turned against the heroes again then the U.S government would have the authority to curb superhuman activity but the MCU wouldn't just like repeat the Accords they would need to do something special we've got a video out about how nemour is a mutant in the MCU and how the government is likely to freak out about the emerging mutant race Heroes people are cool with but mutants are random people will be more afraid of mutants because their children could turn out to be mutants so I think we'll eventually see the mutant registration act in the MCU but for the other Heroes I think we're more likely to see the government control them in another way through coercion for instance ironheart in the upcoming Show in fall 2023 Riri Williams is going back to Chicago to face off against the super villain the hood and maybe Mephisto if you believe everything you hear but it's 100 likely that the government will try to force her to create another vibranium detector they might even threaten her mother so Riri will have to go into hiding which would open the door for her to meet a new family the Young Avengers in fact something like this does happen in the comics with the government passing the Superhuman welfare act which outlawed teenage Vigilantes but we're going to cover all of that in our upcoming Iron Heart video so secret invasion is going to stir just trust against the government but Captain America New World Order is where the mistrust is going to come to a boiling point this movie comes out in 2024 and we know that it stars Anthony Mackey as Captain America Harrison Ford is Thunderbolt Ross and Shira Haas as Sabra now in the comics saber is Israel's number one superhero so we could truly see an international movie here it might also feature the Scarlet Scarab from Moon Knight and any of the various Russian superheroes from the comics producer Nate Morris even teased an adversarial working relationship between Ross and Sam saying to see Sam Wilson and Thunderbolt Ross which if you remember actually he threw him in prison at the end of Civil War because he violated the sokovia Accords there's going to be some natural Sparks there which I think are going to be really fun but the movie also features Tim Blake Nelson returning as the leader so in The Incredible Hulk Tim Blake Nelson played a university scientist named Samuel Stearns who replicated Bruce's blood Bruce thought Stearns was helping him out but he turned out to be a real mad scientist type he made Blonsky into the Abomination because he had a gun in his head but also because he kind of wanted to see what would happen the mixture could be Abominations and after his lab is set on fire some of the game of blood leaks into his head in the comics Stern is the villain called the leader who is as smart as the Hulk is strong but where does he fit into this show he is a villain of the Incredible Hulk well I think this is where we get to the meaning of the title The Leader is a hyper-intelligent futurist I think he can see that a disaster is coming a world war three level event that will destroy Earth so he'll try to take over the world to prevent that disaster but Ross will use this as a way to get into Sam's good graces we know that Sam has no love for Ross like I said he locked him up in jail but we also saw that Sam has no problem accepting missions from the government like in the opening scene a falcon the Winter Soldier U.S military cannot be seen operating out there I got it so I think Ross will recruit Sam to discover what Stearns is up to Ross can't force Sam to help him but he can coerce him and get on his good side and we've already seen Val use the same tactic to recruit the Thunderbolts see the sokovia Accords failed because they tried to force pre-existing groups like The Avengers to bend the knee takes no time to bend the knee pledge all to her calls and why would I do that but Ross's new initiative will succeed by giving the heroes no other choice there's a super villain on the loose and you need to work with us and this is where the department of damage control is key damage control is arresting people with powers who get out of line so the government has prisons filled with superpowered people who want to commute their sentences so the department of damage control could even be elevated to a cabinet level post a vast organization charged with bagging and tagging people with powers who step out of line Ross can make the argument that if damage control would have had these far-reaching Powers before then they could have prevented the scroll Invasion so the movie New World Order could end with Ross forming a team of Quasi Avengers that he can rely on people like Sam Wilson Jennifer Walters the new Falcon this team will be the public face but the secret team will be the Thunderbolts and just to bring this back around to wakanda forever with the USA really wants is vibranium Val tells Ross that she dreams of a world where the U.S controls that much vibranium the Secretary of State tells the CIA that the president's new policy is regime change in wakanda through political instability now if it turns out the president is a scroll then this would be the Scrolls trying to pit the world governments against each other and if the president is Ross then this is exactly the kind of thing that he would want Ross is terrified of loose cannons running around with powers which is why he wanted to recreate the super soldier serum to begin with so now let's talk about Ross's first team the Thunderbolts in the comics the Thunderbolts were originally a group of villains disguised as Heroes later they became a group of reformed villains they've gone through a lot of different iterations in the comics I'm not going to go through all of them here in the MCU all we know is the lineup and that lineup tells us a lot we have Valentina Allegra de Fontaine ghost Red Guardian Elena biloba U.S agent Taskmaster and Bucky so for the past year or so we here at the channel have been really excited to see the Thunderbolts as Marvel's answer to the suicide squad a team of villains who were forced to work for the government and our projected roster included villains like Zemo and the Abomination now obviously Marvel chose a different path for the Abomination I've spent every day of my incarceration focused solely on Redemption and instead we've gotten more of a team of Rogues and anti-heroes than villains but if you look at this roster I think they all have one thing in common they're all super soldiers or assassins no well yes but they have another thing in common they all owe Val and black widow we saw that Val routinely hired Elena for hits you're not supposed to be bothering me on my Holiday Time Valentina but Val persuaded Elena to attack Hawkeye to avenge Natasha's death maybe you'd like a shot at the man responsible for your sister's death now this was to make Elena feel like she owed Valor favor Eleanor Bishop actually hired Val to assassinate Clint so Val could have contracted anyone but instead she chose Elena to earn her loyalty John Walker was publicly humiliated and had the name of Captain America Stripped Away From Him I am Captain America not anymore and Val gave him purpose we're gonna need a U.S agent now we don't know the full story with the others yet but we can guess ghost was having trouble stabilizing herself without Quantum particles maybe The Pimps had stored some of this Quantum energy at their house and after the blip the government seized it as a way to earn ghost loyalty Red Guardian all right I mean look he's kind of a loose cannon but let's assume that Val helped him in Taskmaster deprogram the other black widows around the world and Bucky Bucky is really the odd man out here yeah he spent decades as an Unwritten government assassin so why would he go back into the life because Bucky still has his list of people to atone for joining a team working for Val might be the best way for him to atone also similar to Sam maybe they recruit him by asking for his help apprehending a super villain and maybe that super villain is Zemo but Zoomer is being held in a wakand in prison exactly and this is where we're going to start going a little bit off the rails because we're going to talk about projects that aren't announced yet or that are in development black panther producer Nate Moore has even said that they haven't made exact plans for black panther 3 yet but the movie left obvious place is where the story could go the U.S wants regime change in wakanda and this also means that this story maybe won't even be told in Black Panther 3 it'll be told in the Thunderbolts or in the wakanda spin-off series or in the Avengers the Kang Dynasty I will say there is an unannounced spot in Spring 2025 that would be perfect for black panther 3. now remember the Thunderbolts is the last movie of phase five it's the culmination movie that sets up the final stages of the Multiverse Saga now whatever the team does in this movie it may not even have anything to do with wakanda it may just be a mission that's used to get this team to gel together to make them into an unlikely family like the Guardians of the Galaxy but Val's real reason for doing this would be to get Bucky on her side remember Bucky is fiercely loyal to wakanda sure he broke his mind control he was a personal friend to IO and t'challa he owes them everything and yet he betrayed their trust by liberating Zemo and he was given a warning it would for the time being white wolf so back to what the president said in wakanda Forever he wants regime change through destabilization in the real world destabilization often happens by promoting a rebellion against the ruling class or by enacting sanctions that make life difficult for the populace so they rebel against their leaders this is usually followed by military action where one side can say that they are liberating the people here's a famous example from history during World War One the Germans were fighting the Russians and the Germans had imprisoned the Communist party leader Vladimir Lenin I Am The Walrus no Doug you're out of your element v i Lennon the communist leader I am the roris sweet reference high five the Germans released London back in Russia where he stirred up the Russian Revolution and the new communist government there sued for peace with Germany and thus they exited World War One if the U.S government wants to stir up political trouble in wakanda there are two people in prison there who would be useful one wakabi he led the Border tribe and Rebellion against the throne now obviously the government would not prefer his policy of Conquering the outside world but if the USA freed wachabi from jail he could rally people to his side and stir up a rebellion in wakanda after all there must be people who don't approve of wakanda sharing their resources with the outside world and these people maybe would rather see wakanda try to rule the world the other prisoner is Baron zema now I do think he'll end up being a member of the Thunderbolts somehow and he's also going to see wakanda and their vibranium as a huge threat to the security of the world he especially wouldn't like their literal hero worship of the Black Panther the desire to become a superhuman cannot be separated from supremacist deals Zemo could even be a person who escapes and releases wakabi from his prison but none of this is going to make Bucky Eternal wakanda and that is what Val really wants an agent on her side who knows wakanda inside and out so I think the Final Act of destabilization is going to be to force the wakandans into some kind of Reckless military action and this is what wakanda forever perfectly set up one of the last scenes showed embaku challenging for the throne now it is possible he did this with shuri's blessing and that she just wants time to be the Black Panther and not to rule so she asked her friend in Baku to become Kink but the character of imbaku is a villain in the comics and shuri also butted heads with imbaku in the movie when he says that he doesn't want to kill no more because it would risk Eternal War she forces him to obey her wishes and attack talicon now umbaku is very proud very conservative and he might have taken umbrage to this so this is why he decided he wanted to be king now as the leader of wakanda he would be the type who would be kind of easy to goad into an attack on the outside world remember his first response to Neymar was to attack the fish man and kill him until he learned that his people worshiped him as a God that would provoke Eternal War but if the outside world provoked imbaku I could see him attacking a U.S embassy or like violently putting down a rebellion within wakandan borders the other tribal Elders would also resent being ruled by the Jabari tribe who only recently joined their Council after centuries of isolation so if imbaku violently puts down a rebellion in his country or if he counter-attacks some Americans this could make Bucky conclude that there needs to be regime change in wakanda add into this in the fall of 2024 we're rumored to get a wakanda Disney plus series which I'm betting is based around Okoye and Anika being the midnight angels I think this will be about them and Ross performing Black Ops missions in the name of wakanda around the world and this is where that violent event could happen the unintentional attack against Americans that gives the U.S its excuse to Institute a policy of regime change in wakanda so let's say to calm all this down Sherry wants to take the throne back from embaku but she would have a hard time doing that without the powers of the heart-shaped herb she wouldn't be much of a match for embaku in 101 combat now it's possible that the U.S could learn about t'challa Junior so they kidnap him saying that they will install the legal heir to the throne then and they could control the kid as a kind of public government at least that would be the USA's plan the Americans don't know about Namor or talocon and the more basically commands the scariest military on Earth he said his Army's number was like Blades of grass so maybe we only saw a small portion of his forces maybe the telecons have spread out and created colonies all around the world and there on every shore of the sea ready to strike if wakanda was attacked by the outside world this would give them more exactly what he wanted he would attack to defend his allies wakanda and reveal himself to the world and start a World War wakanda would have a choice attack telecon ignore telecon or go back to being isolationist or join talocon sure he would probably want to stop him and Baka would want to be neutral but wachabi would want to join him a reforward 3 is kicking off what about new Asgard oh yeah they would definitely side against talicon maybe even against wakanda now all of this is the Dark World War III scenario that the leader was trying to prevent by Conquering the world so let's even say that this gets real bad Namor says that he won't live in a world ruled by colonizers that he would rather see the nukes be launched and the entire planet be wiped out new Asgard sees this as a lost cause and starts to head for space and then right when the missiles are about to fly in comes Kang the other Avengers have been fighting him off in space or in the quantum realm they lose and Kang is able to remake the Multiverse in his own image as a single World battle world and that is where you get Avengers Secret Wars now guys like I'm sure a lot of this is gonna end up being wrong but it's really fun to speculate and I think that this is actually going to be the overall Arc of these stories now whether they
