what's up everyone games Apprentice back with another steam deck tutorial this week I'm going to be looking at how you get Ubisoft or up player set up on your steam deck now the Ubisoft launcher isn't something that I personally use a lot of but I remember the other week that I've got quite a lot of Ubisoft games on there from years ago some Old Settlers Games Far Cry blood dragon so I decided that it's time to get Ubisoft set up on the steam deck now if you're a subscriber to my channel you'll be quite familiar with this process as it's pretty similar to all the other ones if you're not a subscriber what are you waiting for there's tons of videos on there to get you started and get your steam deck set up like I've said in the past if the tutorial goes a bit quick for you then don't forget to use the YouTube settings to just slow the speed down to maybe .75 if it's too slow crank it up I'm just going to quickly mention the PRX that you need for this you need to have a web browser installed and you also need to have the proton experimental installed you've probably already got this so I'm not going to go through it here but if you don't check out this video the first couple of steps and then join me back here the first step is to download the Ubisoft connect installer to do this you're going to first need to head into desktop mode once in desktop mode open up a web browser and head to this web page or if you're lazy like me just type in Ubisoft and it's probably going to be the first result click on the download button to download the app next we need to add the Ubisoft connect installer into steam itself and there are two ways that you can can do this if you're alreadying the downloads directory you can just click with the right click and click on add to steam this option doesn't come up for everyone I've have no idea why alternatively open up steam and click on add new game click on ADD non steam game both those methods should bring you to the same selection click on browse find the directory where you downloaded the Ubisoft installer probably just you downloads if you haven't changed it if it's not showing up just delete everything from the filter click on the Ubisoft installer and then click open then just add this into steam the next step is to run the installer so head into steam and find the newly added Ubisoft connect installer click on the Cog icon and go to properties under compatibility change the proton version to proton experimental and then close the window here play and wait for Ubisoft connect to install stick to the defaults and untick launch application once installed so we've installed the Ubisoft Connect app but now we need to add that to steam so we can run that with proton to find it head to the following location you might need to show hidden folders first by clicking on the burger icon on and selecting showd files once there this will bring you to a bunch of folders with numbers or just one if this is the first thing that you've installed if you've got multiple click on the burger icon and select sort by created date with the newest first and then head into the first folder I can't stress this enough it's going to be a compl completely different number to what mine is don't look for my number don't look for my number c stress this enough don't look for my number c stress is enough once in there head to the following location and then right click on the Ubisoft connect. exe and select copy location next head to steam find that Ubisoft connect installer from before and go back to the property section remove everything from the Target and start inboxes and paste the path that you just copied then make sure that you add quotes at both the start and at the very end do the same for the starting field but remove the very last part the file name you still need the quotes at the start and end though once done you can just rename the shortcut something else if you want Ubisoft exit head back into game mode and then hit play this will bring up the login field log in and you're ready to go and that's it now you can have lots of fun trying to get your Ubisoft games trying to work on the steam deck as always thanks so much for watching don't forget to like the video and subscribe for more of my content let me know in the comments how you got on and if you need any help and I'll do my best to assist hopefully I'll catch you next time
