hello guys and welcome to my new youtube tutorial today i will be showing you how to use mesh paint editing tool how to blend them together and all but before we jump into this uh just go to settings plugins in the search type model and then you're gonna find here modeling tools editor mode enable that and restart your engine okay guys so you're gonna have to right click here add pixel content go to surfaces pick any three surfaces you want just any three and download them i already have my favorite ones here so if you want to use the same material i'm just gonna copy the asset id and put it in the link in the description uh you're gonna just copy the asset id go to search ctrl v and there you go okay now we're gonna have to go to mega scans surfaces uh add an asset filter materials and textures material instance and these are the surfaces we downloaded from qxel content i'm gonna right click again add qxl content and then i'm gonna select just any surface or anything and then when i select anything i'm going to press here and minimize that one and now i'm going to select this one first second and third it actually depends which one you're selecting first if you select that one first it will show on the plane first if you select that one it will show first it's like it's basically like top layer middle layer base layer so i'm gonna go back here again and create material blend what this actually did is when you go back to unreal engine and i want to disable that go to content and then there's something here called blend materials if you double click you can see that we already have a surface here now i'm going to go to modeling tool and then i'm going to press rectangle and then i'm going to go to lit wireframe you can see that we don't have a lot of subdivisions so i'm going to increase the subdivisions to increase the quality i'm going to just go to here subdivisions and increase that to 100. if you don't have a fast or if you don't have a fast computer just put this on 50 or 60 and you're good and now i'm going to place the plane here and then complete and then go to wireframe and go back to lit i'm gonna use the blend material now i'm gonna drag it and drop it and then i'm gonna duplicate this one just alt left click and move the mouse and then i'm going to do it one more time and i'm going to select this one first second third and then as much as you want now the reason why i selected them is because and the reason why i duplicated also is because the first plane you select the paint tool does not work on it however it only works on the other two or more planes you selected now i don't know why this is a bug from unreal engine 5 and hopefully it can be fixed now i'm going to go and use the paint mode so i'm going to press here paint i'm going to decrease the size a little bit and then i'm going to decrease the strength also a little bit and then i'm going to go down swap these and then uncheck everything except the red channel go here and i'm going to start painting there you can see and then i can also paint with the green channel depends which one you want i can also fix the blending uh by going to the blend material and then here in the search type blend if we go down for example to the base layer and i guess that's the base layer we can put this into -7 and this is 1.5 you can see that there is blending here and for the top layer we can also blend this by decreasing this one and you can see also there is some blending here too uh that's it for our tutorial thank you for watching please don't forget to like and subscribe
