How to use Canva | Create Videos, Websites, Content & More for Free

did you know that canva is more than just a powerful and free graphic design tool you can actually create pretty much anything that you can think of from social media posts video ads professional presentations two QR codes and even a functional website canva is an Ever evolving software that has been an absolute game changer for all types of businesses that have adopted canva hey guys Stuart here welcome along to this channel I hope all is well on your side of the world now today I'm going to dive into an updated canva tutorial and walk you through all the current features and how you can use these in your business I use canva every single day so I'm excited to share everything that I know so that you and your business can get the most out of canva okay so before we go ahead and dive into this canva tutorial consider subscribing if you haven't done so already or if you're new to this Channel and that way you'll stay updated with actionable videos and tutorials designed to equip you with the skills knowledge and tools to help your small business Thrive online and with that happy note out of the way let's go ahead and dive into this updated canva tutorial for 2023 [Music] foreign [Music] with canva we first need to create a free account simply head over to your browser and type in canva.com or feel free to click the link in our description below this video and that's going to take you here now when you arrive on this landing page you have two options you can either get started with canva completely for free or you can get started with the free Pro trial this allows you to make the most of all of the different features that canva has to offer on canvas premium Pro Plan and you have access to a 30-day free trial and you can always downgrade to the free Plan before your trial finishes if you like or you can go ahead and get started with canva completely for free using their free plan and this will just limit you in terms of the videos images elements that you can use in your designs so go ahead get started sign up and we'll meet you inside your canva account and here we are inside canva now think about all the different designs Graphics videos elements that you want to create for your business you can create all of these inside canva for example if we navigate down you can go ahead and create documents whiteboards YouTube thumbnail YouTube Banner video ads if you like if we navigate over here we can create a Facebook post logo Facebook cover Instagram story Instagram post and a lot more we can navigate up to the search bar and type in a keyword related to the type of project that we want to engage in for example let's say that I wanted to create an Instagram post all I would do is type in Instagram and that's going to generate Instagram post portrait or Instagram posts Square I'm going to go ahead and click on Instagram post Square which is a typical post that you would create and post on Instagram and even on Facebook and just like that canvas is going to generate over 400 000 templates in relation to the keyword that we type Captain Instagram posts so as you can see these are all Instagram post ideas templates that we can use and customize the way that we like now if you see this little Pro icon down here with the little Crown this means that you do need to upgrade to a Premium plan the Pro Plan in order to use this template however if you see a post a template like this an element that does not have this little icon down here then you can use this on canvas free plan completely for free so that is the main difference with canvas Pro Plan versus their free plan now if we navigate over to the left hand side we can add filters if we like we have categories that we can select from we also have different formats of the templates as well as the style and the theme down here for example let's say that I'm creating an Instagram post for our business it's a marketing post so I'm going to select marketing and then that's going to generate Instagram post templates that are related to marketing then we can come down and we can also select colors to filter down the templates even more for example let's say my brand color is green I can select green and then all the green templates are going to be generated we can also navigate over here and click on add new color and you can add your brand color in here okay so what I'm going to do is navigate up here and what we can also do is create a blank Instagram post and we can create a design completely from scratch okay so what I'm going to do is actually navigate back over to our canva dashboard now what we can also do is navigate over to Custom Design over on the right hand side and we can add our own custom dimensions in terms of the design we want to create then if we navigate down further we can see all our previous designs that we've worked on so we can continue working on those designs we can also navigate up to our profile over here and we can create teams and add people to our team canva allows you to create teams invite members and collaborate with your team on specific projects and we can also create video ads for example if I navigate up here and type in video ads we have a few options down here I'm just going to go ahead and click on video ads and again canvas going to generate templates based on the keyword that we added so these are potential video ads templates that we can customize the way that we like for example if I like the look of this video ad here I can click on the video ad and then navigate over to customize this template now it's important to note that no matter what you're customizing within canva whether it's a video a presentation a social media post the designed interface within canva is exactly the same and looks like this now if we navigate over these different elements on our video we can click on them and customize these elements the way that we like so this is a text element what we can do is change this text if we like then if we navigate up here we have four many options like the different font we have the sizing color and then we have different formatting options over here we can also change the animation of that particular element if we like then if we click on these three dots we can also underline uppercase we can change the position and then we can change the transparency and more over here now I'm not going to dive deeper into how to create videos inside canva because this requires its own video tutorial now if you're interested in learning how to create video ads inside canva then what I'll do is add a beginner tutorial up above and down below in the description that will guide you through the process of creating your own video ads inside canva okay so what I want to do is actually navigate back to home and back inside our canva dashboard what we can also do is click on presentations or we can search for presentations up here and we can come down and we can create a presentation if we like and here we have a blank page for our presentation what we can do is navigate up here and name our presentation then if we navigate over to the left hand side you can see we have design selected this is where you can search for presentation templates so I'm going to type in business and then down here canvas going to generate business related presentation templates that we can use let's say I like the look of this one this presentation has 11 pages I can choose to apply all 11 pages and then customize each of these Pages the way that I like or I can just select one page I'm going to go ahead and click on apply all pages and again similar to customizing a video like I showed you earlier I can click on each of these different elements and then I have these formatting options up above you can also select each of these elements and you can drag and drop these elements and place them where you like now here are the 11 pages down here what we can do is select any of these pages and then simply start customizing the pages adding our own content or our own images now once you've made any changes what you can do is simply navigate up to present and I can go ahead and create a presentation directly from inside canva I'm going to come down and click on present and as you can see just like that we have a presentation that we can share with our clients with our team or whoever this presentation is for so I'm going to go ahead and exit out of this presentation and then navigate back home and again like I mentioned at the beginning of this tutorial you can also create websites within canva I'm going to go ahead and click on websites or we can search for websites up here now we can come down and we can click on one of these options if we like or we can search for templates down here I'm just going to go ahead and click on website create blank then again I can select from these templates over here let's say I like the look of this one I'm going to go ahead and apply all six pages and here we have our website again you can click on any of these elements and customize the elements the way that you like if I click on preview you can see what our website will look like and you can preview what the website looks like on desktop as well as on mobile so how cool is that you can create a website within canva completely for free and when you're ready you can go ahead and publish your website so what I'm going to do is close this and again I'm not going to dive too deep into creating a website with canva because we have a dedicated tutorial that will walk you through the process of how you can create a stunning website within canva completely for free so if you're interested in checking that out what I'll do is add that beginner's tutorial up above and down below in the description for you to watch if you're interested in creating a website with canva so one last time what we're going to do is navigate back home and this time I'm going to show you how all the elements work when creating a Design Within canva what I'm going to do is navigate over here and I just want to create a Facebook post so I'm going to come down and click on Facebook post landscape and I like the look of this template here so I'm going to go ahead and click on this template and then click on customize this template okay so here we are inside canvas design interface remember no matter what you're designing your interface will always look like this now again each of these elements you can customize the way that you like remember you have these formatting options up above now if we navigate over to the left hand side remember we have designs or templates over here you can search for specific keywords that you're after and canva will generate those templates down below now if we navigate down we have elements over here if we click on elements this is where you can add elements to your design for example if I navigate up here I could type in laptop for example and that's going to generate all these laptop elements I'm going to come down and let's say I like to look at this one I can add that element in here and I can simply resize the element by dragging the edges and then I can move that element around if I like so I'm going to add this in here I like the look of that and you see this little element here I'm just going to go here ahead and delete that element and put the laptop here instead now I'm going to navigate up here and delete this by simply clicking delete or I can click on this delete icon here I'm going to navigate down here and I could change this to let's say Sam Smith and up here I'm going to go ahead and make that slightly bigger and then I can click on this element and I can rearrange that element into a better placement I'm going to delete this element up here as well and then what we can do is navigate over to uploads now you can upload your own videos audios or images that you want to add into your design we can also come down and click on text you can choose these text headings up here or you can choose from these designs I'm going to go ahead and simply click on let's say this design here and as you can see that's going to add that design that text designed in here that I can then change the way that I like but again I'm actually going to go ahead and delete this element then if we navigate back down we have projects this is where you can manage all your projects in one place by simply creating a folder then if we navigate down to photos this is where you can search for specific photos that you want to use in your designs now what I can also do is navigate down here and I can add an additional page then I can navigate back up to designs and I'm going to go ahead and type in sales because I want to create a sales Facebook post and then I can navigate down and let's say I like the look of this template which is actually a video so again I can come down and click add page and I'm actually going to go ahead and add this image here okay great so this is an image again we can customize any of these elements now I can come down and I can click this arrow and that's going to allow me to jump between each of these pages I can also download each page individually or I can download all of these Pages at once if I like now down here we can also Zoom zoom in and zoom out I can navigate across and let's say this element I can move it slightly over here so if you want to make small changes but you need to zoom in you can go ahead and zoom in and make those changes again you can add additional Pages here you can also click on the three dots above an image and we can navigate up and delete the page we can also duplicate we can add an additional page so for example I'm going to go ahead and click on duplicate page as you can see I now have two of these template designs now if I navigate back over to the left hand side we've talked about images if I click on images again let's go ahead and type in let's say shoes and come down and select any of these images if I click on an image that's going to add that image into my design and I can play around with that image I can also drag and place the image into here so for example let's find another image let's say I like this image I'm going to drag that and put that in here let's see if there are any better shoot images I like the look of this one so I'm going to go ahead and drag and drop the image in here now we can also navigate over to audio and we can add audio into our video so if we're creating a video like I mentioned earlier you can simply add your own audios or you can find Audios in here that you can upload to your video then below audio we have videos again we can add a video if we like so I'm going to go ahead and type in shoes again and as you can see we have videos of shoes I like the look of this video here so what I'm going to do is simply click on the video and replace this image in here with the video so this whole design now turns into a video now with any video so again let's say I just click on this video and you can see that this video is 20 seconds long I can go ahead and adjust that video if I like and that whole design is going to be the same duration as the longest video that you have on your design so I'm going to delete that this and then navigate back over to backgrounds which is below videos here you can add different backgrounds if you like I'm going to go ahead and select this background and as you can see the whole background has changed then below background we have logos you can go ahead and upload your own logo and you can customize your own branding if you like now if you're interested in learning how to create your own logos from scratch or with pre-made templates within canva then again what I'll do is add a beginner's tutorial up above and down below in the description that will guide you through the process of creating your own logo for free with canva okay so below logos what we're going to do is click on apps and then here we have access to different apps for example we have QR code we can go ahead and create a QR code simply add the URL the destination that this QR code will take someone to if someone scans that QR code with their phone this could be for example my website and then what we can do is come down and we can further customize the QR code or we can simply just come down and click on generate QR code and as you can see we now have a QR code and I can add that anywhere I like on my design I'm just going to go ahead and add that down here so now if we share this post on Facebook on Instagram and then someone uses their phone and they scan this code that's going to take them to our website but for the purpose of a sales post like this what you could do is add the URL that takes the potential customer to the product page the product that you're selling then again what we're going to do is come down to apps and once we're on apps again we're going to navigate up and we can connect Google Drive we can add emojis we can add videos from YouTube and then we have a lot more apps down here you can also add Google Maps into your designs if you like now I'm going to go ahead and add another page and then I'm going to delete this background and let's say I want to upload this design so this is a new ebook that we're about to launch so I'm going to go ahead and make sure that it fits the entire design and then what I can do is click on this design and then click on edit image and I have a few cool options up here what we can do is actually remove the background of this image so if I go ahead and click on background remover give canva a moment and as you can see canvas gone ahead and removed the background of your image now you can also manually erase and restore specific elements of your image if the removal hasn't done a great job but I just wanted to remove the background so this is perfect now if we navigate back again we can also navigate back over to restore original and that's going to generate our original image I can come down and click on Smart mock-up and then I can add this design to specific mock-ups for example a phone if I come down a laptop and these smart mock-up images you can use for marketing materials however this particular design isn't going to work well for these smart mock-ups for example if I click on mag-1 you can see that is how this smart mock-up is going to look like with this particular image okay so what I'm going to do is navigate back over to this design which is a video so actually let's go back to this shoe sale now when you're happy with any of your designs simply navigate up to share and then you can come down and you can share this content with your team you can also share a view only link with external people and then over here you can actually set up a Content calendar you can actually schedule your content across different platforms all you would do is Click schedule you'd choose the date you'd click next and then you'd select the channel that you want to post this content to so again canva is not just a design tool you can use this tool as a social media marketing tool okay so if we navigate back up to share and come down we can also navigate down and we can share on social we can print your design and we can also download the design so I want to navigate up here and I can choose to download this particular design as a JPEG PNG PDF standard and these other options down here like MP4 video this is just an image so I'm going to go ahead and select PNG which is best for downloading high quality images then down here I can choose the images that I want to download I can download all images I'm going to deselect this and then click on the current page which is this page here and then simply click done and then download and canvas is going to go ahead and
