How to use 2021 Silverado Duramax Key Fob Features & Benefits

hello everybody welcome back to the channel this is truck i joe today i wanted to share a couple features and benefits available on the silverado trucks now this is a brand new 2021. this truck just came off the carrier today i've been waiting for this truck for months it's finally here i'm excited to show you a couple things and the purpose of this video is uh if you live in a cold climate so a couple items i want to show you for living in a cold climate and then also a couple other little features on the truck that sometimes the dealership your sales person or maybe your delivery coordinator is just not aware of they don't actually know these features and benefits exist so i want to share that with you to make your ownership experience a little bit better for you let's take a quick look at the truck that were talking about today so this is a brand new 2021 3500 one ton single rear wheel it is duramax diesel z71 off-road it's the ltz package doesn't even have the window sticker yet this is just the temporary label shipping label until we get the real window sticker [Music] 20 inch pulse wheels it's got the overload springs factory fifth wheel gooseneck prep package that's going to come in handy i'm excited about that it is ltz so let's talk about some features related to the key fob to make your ownership experience a little better there's a little little sneak peek right there the features i want to discuss are centered around the key fob so i want to show you that there is the ability with the remote start to basically have the truck go into an elevated high idle and that's different from the high idle switch you will see options for trucks that they have what's called a high idle switch the automated high idle is different that's automatic you can turn it on in the settings and it's linked to when you remote start the truck on a cold day these trucks have an outside ambient temperature sensor that tells the truck okay it's cold enough that we're going to do elevated idle on a start which will warm the engine up faster it'll get warm air blowing out of the vents and which will help dethaw the truck whether it's ice or snow and we also want to make sure when you do a remote start that the automatic heat seats come on automatic heated seats and there's also the option for the ventilated seats so this truck has heated seats but also has ventilated so we'll make sure that the heated seats are turned on for remote start and ventilated and keep in mind when you do a remote start also the glass is heated on the mirrors the top glass so that automatically will heat up as well and the rear window to fogger even with a power slider you get a rid of fogger the rear window the fogger will turn on so when you remote start on a cold icy day you can come out to a truck that's basically thawed out ready to go less scraping and just overall just safer and more convenient so let's start the truck foot on the brake push the start button keep in mind it's probably gonna be some static coming from the radio um keep in mind there's everything's computer controlled now so you have to give the truck time to basically everything needs to process and load up or boot up if you will just like a computer so there's the static from the radio so for now i'm going to hit okay we're in demo mode i'm going to hit the volume button just to mute this so now that the truck has started and the systems are firing up we're going to go into the settings tab so we're on the home screen so you want to make sure you're on your home screen how do you get there you can hit the home button here or the home button here these are your apps and go to your settings so the first one here this screen you've got some tabs here system apps and vehicle we want to go to vehicle vehicle settings climate and air quality there we go so auto rear to fog is turned on and already rapid heat elevated idle is turned on and like i said that's separate from the elevated idle uh the high idle switch this allows the truck to go into a rapid idle on a cold start so you start making heat the frosted windows get everything going so we're good to go there so we're gonna go back and now we're gonna go comfort and convenience want to show you this one little little other little secret here remote folding mirror now you might know about this you may not but through the key fob with that feature on you can press and hold the lock button when you walk away from the truck fold the mirrors in so if you park in a tight parking spot shopping center whatever the case may be now you can make the mirrors full and unfold right with the key fob when you come back to the truck let's say you're getting ready to hop in and leave press and hold the unlock button mirrors go back out now there's not an option for the power extent you still have to hit the button but it is nice to use the key fob the power fold okay so that was one item under comfort convenience i want to share with you and now let's go down to the remote start right here remote lock unlock and start boom let's scroll down a little bit there you have it remote start auto heat seats good to go we want that turned on also remote start auto cool seats they're you know they can they're that one's kind of cut off but basically you can see both of those are turned on nice features to have for summer and winter time so i'm sitting at my desk editing the video real quick and i forgot three important things i meant to share with you three basic things that make a big difference number one how to actually remote start the truck with the key fob number two once you remote start the truck how to shut it off if you decide that you're not to go anywhere then number three how to extend the run time once you remote start the truck it's going to run for 10 minutes there is a way to make it run for 20 minutes because remember we're talking about a diesel truck here they take longer to warm up so there's a way to remote start it and extend the idle time and under elevated idle you're going to get heat faster and if it runs longer obviously you can come out to a truck after 20 minutes it's going to be thawed out glass will be de-iced you know windows will be clear so let me show you those three items on the remote start process on these trucks all right so i'm standing out here on busy state street it's the five o'clock 500. here's how you remote start the truck you press the lock button press and hold the start button for about four or five seconds [Music] okay the truck started it's going to run for 10 minutes so you started the truck you think you're going to run to the store something comes up you decide you're not going to go whatever the case may be all you do hit the start button you're gonna shut the truck off all right now let's do the next one extending the run time if you wanted to run 20 minutes to get a good warm-up to fall out the truck this is what you do hit the lock button press and hold the start button truck started up now you want to wait 30 seconds so you can either count you could do a little jig or a dance whatever you want to do take a walk around the house so we're going to fast forward 30 seconds so now that the 30 seconds is up here's what you're going to do you're going to just hit the lock button lights flash press and hold the start button until the lights flash again it's now gonna run for 20 minutes okay sorry i forgot about that wanted to share it with you let's get back to the rest of the video that's gonna wrap it up
