welcome to hot oak I love kitchen back fast museum fast this is a complete tutorial on how to tile a kitchen backsplash this is the exact same process I use my installation tiling business called Blake style I don't leave any step out any tutorials and as you can see I always like to put up before and after you will be able to look over my shoulder through the entire process of tiling this awesome custom backpack I make these videos so even beginners if you have a tile backsplash like this with no problems and it'll even help the professional out there looking for that added edge or information to help his tiling process so sit back and enjoy and watch how easy this process can be with an experienced tile installation master like myself have fun love those remodel boxes you can screw them in and out to make it easier for spend thinset or when you're marking your tile and I left a line here on the left hand side so I'll go too far with my glue it's always wise to think that as you seek through this video I try to keep everything absolutely clean because it's glue gets over everything and this is a critical fault part for me on the first piece of tiles going down I like to make this perfect and that this piece of tile right here as a up it's a finished trim piece called surface bolos on the left hand side then I use my two foot level to make sure it's absolutely plumb with the outside of this cab and nothing worse than going up there and you're a little bit shy of it to the left or to the right and our crews and we're going to start cruising on these walls before I began I scraped all you see me scraping all these walls down with a flat trowel if you will get a perfectly flat walls like these it just go but to be honest if you just beat if you're a beginner and just starting off first time doing a project like that do not smear this much of glue oh man you'll be in trouble I would just smear enough along the bottom to start your first row and see how it goes I'm using 1/16 spacers on here which we're all pane I'll never use these type again I like to use tiled in spaces now they're just push them in the back and leave them alone holding things outdoors out was that night member and I'm using acrylic Pro ceramic tile adhesive and you can get it from Home Depot and it just works right two little marks on there and be precise you don't want to go out to saw come back in this too big as you see I put previous cut to the next tile that's going to go alongside and I mark it to get a perfect perfect same sized cut that's when you don't want to use the gauge dad you can see this little piece on the left hand side there that's a little piece of surface bullnose I'm touching with my left hand little tiny pieces I had dad take a lot of patience so make sure your hands are clean because you get frustrated by having glue on your hands and touching everything and just like I said I will keep my hands totally clean throughout this whole process as you see I'm marking my tiles I like to mark a few of them before I go make a cut that way I'm not white a lot of times going back and forth to the saw another thing I'm constantly doing as I'm setting this tile is I'm feeling it and I'm pushing it into the glue on the wall making sure it gets a complete bond you don't really see it because I sped up these videos but I'm actually pushing a lot of pressure on here to make sure all these are I don't get no tile sticking out if I do it as you've seen I'll actually pull it off the wall and scrape the thinset out and coming up here is you'll see this precise cut I'm about to put in and then this is what it's all about these nice custom cuts just makes the job and I don't just put it in I have to put another little spacer to make sure it's perfect I know it's under cabinet but these are things that come hit to subscribe it's right there on your left right down below you hit it you see it hit it hit it today get yourself raised nice yellow sponging and get them in the tile Department of Home Depot oh they're the best and use like a wash brush like an old trim painting brush free wash brushes wash all this tile up it just works perfect I'm just going along no problem just stacking this tile and as you notice it's a random pattern actually had a loyalist tile out on the countertop before I install and have the owner look at it and make sure the dark brown tiles were where they supposed to get here we go right here is where I was laying off the owner okay so I could put it up on the wall so every wall you see is pre laid out to the owners specifications before I can install it which took a little bit more time but it made the owner really happy and you can do the same thing on your projects anything is just take your time and have fun doing this and as you can see I'm have to step up here so pre-prepared with the especially when you're working overhead to make it more comfortable by having a little step um I use a bucket but I don't recommend that for you guys and these adjustable outlet boxes are just awesome I'm back in the day when we didn't have these go to market cuts or smell your thinset and they'd be sticking out it would get in your way then you make your cuts too big you put your outlet cover on it and then be it just a mess so tell your electrician adjustable outlet boxes and as you notice I started in the corner here so I could add this line up perfectly the joints so it's tough though reaching in there cats and this is a great shot we have here because you actually see me mark this tile up close it's the best way to mark these tiles that way you don't make them too big or too small and on this backsplash I had a seal that liner you're looking that reddish brown one that 1/2 inch by 6 inch I sealed it without 5:11 impregnator I'll show you later on how I do it but the reason why they had me seal it because I had a crackle finish a crackle finish is one one finish is laid upon another why they wanted me seal it but it's it was a must that came with the directions so if you buy your tile make sure you ask the people you purchased from does this tile need to be sealed good thing for 5:11 before it came along sealers man they were a risk to use them you didn't know what happened you have to test them make sure they didn't mess up your tongue and how to cut these liners in the strips before I use them so I would you just flip them over and cut the netting or you keep them in a long strip like this and I wanted to show you this corner because I mirrored it it's a principle of reflection and you can use it in any corner what it is you just repeating the sent cuts on the left and right called mirroring so let's I'm use a corner maybe do a mirror it's like you're looking into a mirror so back home we will shop and receive nothing till you get brushing the stuff on no I move on the wall you want that da Silva sitting on there now will do these the only sealer I use on my job now 511 and if it forms an invisible barrier it makes it hard to stain and plus it's so easy to put on all you need is a brush little cup and some white rags brush it on wipe it off I've been working on this backsplash by myself for the first half of this now my son Davey has decided to show up you can see the little sloppy with his glue so I'm always going behind them and wiping it clean because I like it clean the next day if you come back you leave this glue on without wiping up it's hard to get off you see we're like a semi aligned meet him he's been doing this for 22 years I've been doing it for over 30 so when we get to Bob and stall on tile on a kick you backfire it goes so fast that's why by watching these videos you're going to learn all our tricks on trade secrets - oh yeah the button below you the one that hit that says subscribe hit it now you see it right down there on the left below them the screen hit it put your finger click it hit it okay all done time to do suicide you guys ready I do not recommend you smearing this much glue on the back of a backsplash if this is your first time doing this because what will happen is if you're not quick enough that glue will dry up and then your tie won't stick to the wall and come back next day and will just fall off so take your time I would just smear the bottom and see how it goes a little at a time even half that bottom row and then continuing and just give yourself a little time and with my pencil here I take my time to give it a nice sharp point because when you mark and tile you want that point exact like a drafting pencil and I'm looking at you yeah you right there you want to watch me are you ready I guess so so let's begin I've already marked this tile in the middle the glue is good to go and that's where I'm starting exactly in the middle then I'll put a spacer underneath it and then I'll take a measurement because I want this thing exactly in the middle not a sixteenth to the left not a sixteenth to the right but exactly in the middle remember this is a subway patent design so we did the tile goes in the middle or the joint goes in the middle because you're going to get any cool cuts either way this is Pat subway pad I'm about to take you outside to show you how to make a cut on a saw what's that you want to go with me come on yeah the bathroom I did and this is one of my small saws you don't need a big saw to do these tile project most of them can be done with a little lob well I think this is an 8 inch blade you don't need those big ol Bob tile saws to do most tile jobs this one right here is fine plus I stone all my cuts that are showing I guess say give you another little I did that a while ago meanwhile Maikel side because I cut a little too big or too small cut this one and I'm gonna mark it and cut those and then I'll come in keep on going and as we're finishing up on this last part of this subway random pattern with liner kitchen backsplash I just want to tell you that I really appreciate I really appreciate you watching these videos and subscribing to my channel there's another thing that I want you to do is I'm going to leave a link
