hi this is Chris longus for YouTube and jobs on the house now I recently did a tiling job for a friend just before Christmas and in this tutorial I remove the old tiles and a replace with a black bevel tile I'll show you how to cut a towel and I'll show you how to grout the finished job in a white grout if you see any brochures advertising new kitchens you'll realize that the style of tile they use enhances the kitchen and so the style and tile that you use will enhance your kitchen also I'm going to do some more tutorials later on in the year so please subscribe and I'll catch you later on a new job on the house see you later guys bye [Music] [Music] knocking off the tiles user causes a problem you find that sections pull off usually the plaster the back of the wall is pulled off by the tile adhesive we all have to repair that if that happens unfortunate on this job that the work is sound as you can see from the video finding the centerline is important I find it usually between the two cupboards I work out then my tile cutting into the cupboard cornice I work in small areas with adhesive and then I work my tiles out from that center line I generally take them right across if I can to each plug point or each corner I make sure that my tile is in line and also remembering that there is a spacer bar to go in so I have to make sure that is correct working across to the corner I want to get to the plug point to go back to the middle and I build a type of pyramid I take it up onto the bottom of the cupboard doors and I move across to the next plug point here I remove the plug point and I take a card and transfer it to the tile and score score marks and when you do that it enables you to cut with a pair of pliers if you haven't got a cutting saw as many marks as you can put on as you can see from this tile and then taking a pair of pliers you can snip away those small cuts don't worry if it's a rough edge because when you put the plug point back it covers any rough edges that's the idea of taking the plug off you apply the same principle to the other side by scoring the tile and snipping the small cuts with the pliers this is good if you haven't got any other cutting machine this is the way that we usually do it you can get a special pliers to do this but I using use a normal pair once I've done that with the plugs I'll go back to the centerline and I take the pyramid up and underneath the hood I'm making sure that all my cuts are the same I'm making sure that the tiles are clean and then when I've done that and I'm sure of that I can go back to the edges and finish the edge off I make sure that it's all in bond I make sure that my tiles are cut in half I go to the pencil lines that have already pre worked out and I work in a small area was it with adhesive and finish this area off as well the other side I have to find the center line we find this by measuring from the wall to the edge of the window and then that determines the center line I put a mark down but when I cut the tile I have to make sure that I leave a little bit of a gap bearing in mind that you need a spacer bar and when that's done you can move on once you placed then you can cut the other tile and put it under the wind 'red you are placed it and put it in and that sets you bond ready for getting onto the window then you've got a cut equally each side as I showed you from that pencil mark and that will bring your bond in line and look right with the rest of the brick with the rest of the tile work and then when you've done that you can put up the side piece ready to put the tiles in around the side window place your plastic endstop up to the pencil mark that you've marked the tiles up in in dry and then cut it into a V or a 45-degree and the other than the 45-degree and place it make sure that the tile cut that you've cut half goes into the wall space and then put your plastic up against it so that it works in right with the next tile that goes around the corner of the window John once your cuts are done then you can make sure that you're cutting around the window and it cuts more cuts there and adjustments and then you can do as we did before to cut and score and cut with the pliers set it round and then put your bead in and the rest should follow off that bond that you've set from that center line into the corners this is the finished article continue the tiles along unless you see at this side as we come to the other window there's a slight difference in height don't worry about that the gap created can be filled but as that bond comes along which is important I need to cut a little bit onto the window to get the bond right it won't be seen onto the window and so when we come to the end if we're in bond we're able to cut the tile and make sure that we cut it around the windowsill this will keep us nicely in bond again I repeat the process on the opposite side again we put the plastic edging strips up I might of them up to the pencil marks that are pre-made and then we can move on with the tiling but I also make sure before I tile that as I'm cleaning around the corners that my tiles are in bond so I dry lay them out again and as I check I took them around the corner and often when you put them in you can see that there's needed a cut so again I have to measure and find the centerline and when I found the centerline that the cuts are equal then I'll put that mark on the wall this is repeated on every turn bonding is so important that as you keep your eye on the bonding you'll realize that you have to make these cuts that the tiles look uniform and so as I cut them I still have to remember that there's going to be a little mark there for the little spacer that goes in once you're satisfied and you've got your marks in it's time to tile I want you when you see a pencil marks are in place it's time to go for it I always put plenty of adhesive on around these corners [Music] [Music] [Music] fill in under the window the gap is created by the difference in height here I cut it on the cutting machine and gently snap it in two and this is the little piece I've got and you find that I'll just fit in nicely underneath and that will bring everything up underneath the window ledge and seal from the water and this is a view of it done what you need is a grout is foam like this it's a piece of foam with a handle but first you need to clear the tiles make sure any residue is off you can use a nail or something sharp to scrape the joints to make sure all the T's are out get a clean rag and clean off any residue again or dust give it a good general wipe all the way around use a scraper if necessary because some of it goes hard if it's done the day before again just make sure any bits are out of the joints because when you put the grout on that will cause a problem it will always have a bump there take a good amount onto the foam and then work it into the joints you'll find that the foam moves the grout around very easily make sure that all the joints are nice and filled take your time on this because this is the finished product give it a good working into every corner [Music] I like to make sure that I'm working small areas and then you you're not going to get the stuff going off too hard to clean off and then you're not going to miss any point if you just work it in in a small area I always find that's the best way make sure all the joints are nicely tightly packed full of grout working it in all the time this is the hardest part and when you've got all the grout on then you need to take a wet cloth and go over it after about ten minutes and then a dry cloth getting off or the residue that's left on the tiles and you should be left with the result looking like this [Music] you [Music]
