in this video baby and painting we're playing stuck with a cinderblock wall and we start our preparation work by moving Grable a few inches away from the wall the stucco will not adhere properly if the wall is dirty or dusty so will pressure wash it thoroughly after pressure washing with the masking the side of the house that is next to the wall or cover with 12-inch masking paper at the top portion of the wall that has been stuccoed and painted will cover with inch-and-a-half tape we mask off and tape off anything that we don't want to get the stuck on this is the consistency of the stucco that we'll be using it's approximately two gallons of water mixed with 80 pounds of stucco before we apply the stucco we wet the wall so it's easier for stucco taught here I will put two metal spray shields on the bottom that will catch stucco that's falling down using a hawk and a trowel a well-placed stock was starting from the bottom of the wall for the midsection of the wall that doesn't require any precision we no longer using hawk just the travel we move the stock from the wheelbarrow that will mix in it in the plastic tub just for the purposes of recording this video so the will barrel doesn't block the view but it would have been easy here to use a wheelbarrow to apply stucco to the top portion of the wall together with the trowel are we using the hook again from the metal sheets on the bottom we pick up all the stock oh that's fell during the process and put it back on a wall we remove the shields scraping from them any remaining stock or with a chap stuck on the bottom to make sure none of it pulled away a while we were removing the shields on a large stucco job it would be too time-consuming to move those shields around but for a small to medium size project they were great they eliminate the waste of material and reduce the mess after we applied the stucco to the wall we give it some time before using the sponge to smooth it out the wait time depends on the temperature right now it's pretty hot and the stucco dries very fast so we wait for about 10 to 15 minutes before we use the sponge if the temperature was lower the wait time would be longer here on the left side of the picture the stucco needs some work with the sponge and on the right side of the picture we finished and this is the final look after we're done with the base coat of stucco the custom has a couple of choices choice number one is to apply the finish coat the finish coat would be applied in exact same way as we applied the base coat just not a stick but the benefits of applying finish coat is that with two coats the stucco would cover joins better also it will have a smoother finish so it will look a little nicer and those are the benefits the downside is the cost if you want to save money you can stop right here and paint over the base coat in this case the customer did not care for the finish coat because of the cost and after we're done with the base coat we primed and painted it and this is the look after we finished a good primer to use on the wall that's never been painted before a would be either Lux on primer by Sharon Williams or have stopped by done advance as far as the paint's we usually use either a 100 or super paint by Sharon Williams equivalent of those would be a grief use or sparta shield by the net words thank you for watching the video and if you have any questions please leave them in a comment section
