okay before I start this do-it-yourself video on how to paint a bumper or fender whatever any Andy's have a panel I just want to thank Dallas for helping me get the bumper back into one piece did you guys know remember in my other videos all this was messed up he fiberglass the under piece of everything made it all into one whole piece he did the first two or three layers of bondo all over everything so now it's really smooth I just went ahead and fixed the little stuff as an illustrator all of this right here too a little bit up here and like these little spots right here I fixed but Dallas did basically the whole work on the whole bumper to fix everything so Thank You Dallas for that I'll put his instagram somewhere right here or in the description I'll put a link to it and I'm gonna start on the do stuff video I got the bumper prepped up I just got to wash it and here we go okay guys so I'm gonna show you guys what you guys are going to need to paint either bumper or fender door panel any little stuff so basically what you're going to need to start off with is gonna prep your bumper which means you're gonna stand down even if it's been primer before like from factory or from you know from like the shop where they make let's say the aftermarket bumper or something like that so you're gonna set it down I'll say use 400 grit you're gonna start with this first let's see if I can if you guys can see what all right 400 sandpaper it's kind of smooth but the same time it's pretty it's pretty rough enough to take off you know the primer or the paint I already had before just to thin it down so you can lay the primer and be able to for it to be able to stick so basically this other bumper is gonna look for now once you send everything down you're gonna get everything smooth and out you're gonna get as much as like sanding as it could so the paint would be able to stick to the bumper instead of it just cracking and you know getting ugly and after the foregrip 400 grit you're going to use either a thousand or 1500 grit to make a smooth you're going to use 1500 grit you're gonna use fifteen hundred or a thousand grit paper which is really thin as well as really soft this is just to make the bumper even smoother before you lay there primarily gonna have a bunch of like really small scratches that you'll be able to see you have to get the whole thing painted so to prevent all that make sure to sand it down with a thousand or 1500 to make it really smooth and have no scratches all around your bumper so as you're able to see those bumpers really smooth there's no big scratches this is after the thousand grit or 1500 it's really smooth now after that you're gonna need your primer it's best to get sandable primer and a light color because you're gonna do a dark color and you get a dark shade of a primer it's gonna make the bumper look even darker than the wood it should be so it's best to get a light primer and make sure it's sandable so you can wet sand the primer and then lay the paint so it can be really smooth and you won't have a bunch of little dots or scratches as well so you're gonna use a sand opal primer you can see right here it's a sandable primer it's also like a filler type of primer so it fills up any small little scratches as well so once you use it as you can see it's a light color once uses give it like two good coats of primer so everything can so the pinkest stick to it is really good once you once you're finished painting with primer make sure to wet send the primer and then at the paint but before you start painting after you you finish sanding a bumper make sure to wash it out so you won't leave any residue before you start painting once it is done being washed make sure it's gonna still be soft but not enough to stick to your hands or any dust anymore obviously you clean everything off and wipe everything off as well so basically your bumper your panel whatever should look like this first tip and give it a very light coat not enough to cover everything yet but enough for it to just you stick to it first once that dries up a little bit then hit it with a deeper coat and then another deeper coat so everything can be fully covered and it was sticking to the bumper at good without it dripping or leaving a bunch of little dots as well so I'll show you guys the first clip of the first small or little little coat of primer before you primer make sure the floor is wet so you won't get a bunch of overspray going everywhere getting on the car near cars so just make sure to wet the floor so when the overspray it does fall or does come out it'll stick to the floor and not keep moving around and getting all over everything so wash the floor before you start priming [Music] not sure if you guys are able to see but this is what I mean about the overspray on all over everything it just bugs and it's such a pain in that has to clean it like I said remember water everything because all right here is all good over there I didn't spray that much of water so that's why I get all that overspray like I said remember water everything because all right here is all good over there I didn't spray that much of water so that's what I get all that overspray this is also how your bumpers should kind of end up after been dried I just kind of let it sit overnight because I didn't have the paint with me yet but I just bought the paint right now that I needed so this is out this primer I'm gonna go ahead and wet sand it with 1500 grit like I just showed you guys before 1500 grit with water and just sort of wet sanding the whole thing and make it really smooth because you lit it smooth but you could feel like a bunch of little textures so just make sure to wet sign it before you start painting so you won't have all those like so you won't have a rough edge a rough platform so just make sure to wet send it and then start painting all right so once you guys are finished by setting the bumper make sure to wash it are really good with water and soap dry it out completely because if you start painting and you get some drips on the paint this is gonna ruin everything so make sure to dry it off really good after you're done painting it so now that the bumper is fully dried up what's signature up a little right here but I already wiped it all down and make sure everything was dry there's no more little rust spots it's completely smooth now to this you're gonna be ready to paint and I'll show you what kind of cans you need let's say you're doing the Silverstone color I'll show you which ones or what are the cans that I got but mostly I use duping dupli-color or restone 'i'm either one of those two paints are really good okay so these are the products that i use for painting do petite color perfect match this is do the color perfect match precision gray and rust-oleum acrylic lacquer clear it's probably the most best clear that I have personally used if you lay this properly you're gonna get probably the best results with clear you get as close as possible you can to get a mere finish but after you were finished cleaning the car after you're done painting and then clearing usually some people what they do they wet sand the paint and then they clear over usually I clear over the paint and then what's ended clear you're gonna wet something clear with the 1500 grit so you can either a machine I recommend if you use a machine you use 2,000 grit but if you can use your hand or a smaller machine use 1500 grit for what setting the clear make sure you get enough coats because you don't want to sand through the clear or through the paint I did that before my rear bumper and I'll show you that right now so as you can see right here that went a little too far into the paint and the primer so I was using a pretty big machine to wet sand is with 1500 grit and I kind of went through too much as well with a little bit right here but with the results of the rear bumper looks pretty wet and it's almost almost there but I'll show you that right now because this is probably gonna be the best thing I've painted before and you guys will see that right now so once you get the paint make sure to lay small coats first let it dry up and then start hitting it with thicker coats and paint the whole bumper one full color make sure you use enough cans don't black on getting one or two cans make sure to get the car painted make sure to get the body panel painted one full color so you won't leave layers of different shades then added clearly let it dry you can either let it dry for the rest of the night do it in the next day or you can wait about two to three hours let it drive really good and then start listening but that's up to you but it's really recommended let it dry for at least about a day or two and then you can start wet-sanding and you'll have a pretty good bumper and I'll show you guys after the paint right now sure to shake the can really good I say shake it for like a good five minutes straight that way the paint will come out good and not splatter so this will be your first layers what I mean house not fully covered everything but just enough to get it going color and this is basically how your second like full coat will look like as you can see what I mean make sure to get enough can't because I already wasted two and there's still some little streaks which I need to go over with the last can I'm using three for this one because I think it'll be enough to get everything one full color and a nice shade because I'm not trying to get all this so I'm gonna focus on that right now but everything else is almost one color one more good full coat with the last candle will be good so this is a gonna be about your third coat your last coat basically how everything is all one color now there's no more little zigzags there there's no more different shade of layers it's all one color it took me three cans to do all this got everything painted now we're just gonna have it clear and then we're going to wet send the clear for this so once like just let it dry for a good hour and then hit it with the clear coat let that dry for like if you want overnight or wait like three like two or three hours and then start wet setting so that's done for now nobody's gonna wait to clear it up and then with wet sand with 1500 and the bumper will be ready we got Cody here for supervision just in case anything happens this is the first coat of clear can you see it's already starting to get a little bit of a you're finishing away but it still looks really like kind of fading if anything it looks like it's fading well that's the first coat I use one count for that I'm gonna use another can to give it the last coat and I'm just gonna let it dry overnight and if anything always send tomorrow [Music] [Music] this is after your second can I'm clear and anything you see right here like some like little different sections of later when you sweat send it it'll all come to one layer and it'll all look completely reflected better didn't even tell where I got pigs alright guys so this is how the bumper finished off you can see is a really good reflection on all things a little bit dirty cuz I let it sit for a couple days but I'm working out really good it's almost I like it's just a little bit darker a slight difference but in person you can't really tell that much I'm not really good and there's that's all the process it takes to do the whole paint your own panel bumper whatever I mean you can do a whole car she's gonna be a lot more of a lot more work and a lot more time-consuming but it's a really good way to learn how to spray-paint stuff with the right cans and everything and this is all my car sits right now for all the other people who are like just trying to look for the updates right now or here for updates I just put these wheels on I just got all the tires mounted ready for Grange on the 27 just put these on just seconds so they can be the first one to burn I just want them on the car he's home on that too and when I get to the track I won't have to put him on and do all that and I didn't go drifting the other night already getting beat you guys want to watch that low quick video I didn't take the camera with me I forgot to tell my Instagram if you guys don't follow me follow me on Instagram I'll put the link in the description or I'll put it somewhere around here and you'll see the video there and let my hydro running hydro works now works really good and yeah that's just how you do the paint as some results on my series later [Music]
