tackle junkies what's going on fellas today i'm going to show you guys how to properly spool a spinning reel guys i've done videos on this in the past but i know a lot of the newer subs probably don't look back in the video so i will link my older videos down below as well as how to spool a big caster as well but since i'm spooling up some reels for big mike i figured we'd go ahead and make a video big mike is behind the camera camera so uh a little shaky big mike gets behind the camera so things are a bit shaky and all that i do apologize we're just gonna roll with it we want to get on the water as soon as possible so anyways spinning reel keep in mind with a spinning reel the spool itself does not spin okay the bail is what spins and the easiest thing to do is match the rotation of the bale to how the line comes off the filler spool a lot of guys that say oh it's always label up or whatever don't even pay attention to the label heck on this spool here i'm gonna have a label on it okay but i'm going to look at my spinning reel here spin it for you guys look from the rear that bale okay is spinning counterclockwise and that's how you want the line to come off the spool here this is a little handy-dandy pulling station that i made i will link this video down below as well but you want the line coming off counter-clockwise you guys see that counter-clockwise all right actually i will link this down below this just keeps the spool from jumping all around the boat okay now it's not going anywhere all right i'm not sure to tell you where to go at the moment it's kind of let's kind of roll through here we're going to take our line guides here from rapid fishing line guys are from rapid fishing i'll link these down below guys you guys can use code tj81 over there rapid to get 25 off your order this is an easy way to spool up your wheels you'll be able to run the line through your guides very quickly as you get older it's a little tough to see so mike logan start you can just go to the very last guy but we're going to go ahead and go fishing right after this so we're going to start here at the main guide here at the tip guide like so and then just run that through like so oops a little more line here yep a little more line oh yeah yeah oh yeah okay like so okay take this off i'm gonna pulse a little more line here and then we're gonna turn this around like so okay whoops line is in the camera now the biggest thing get some stuff out of the way here so we don't have a big knot the biggest thing here when tying the line to the spool okay open that bail okay open the bail then tie your knot so we got a line through the guides here we're going to tie a slip knot all right i'm not really sure how this is going to come through on camera with mike's skills at the moment but i'll link a video down below so you guys can see how to do this as well okay cut it off there so you get your main knot is going to slip into this other knot here like so and we are good to go did you get that mic doubtful very very very doubtful but we're rolling with it yeah okay now okay now you can flip the bale over and you're ready to wind it on you want to keep a little bit of tension i usually just go up to i don't know halfway between the reel and the first guy there mike are you in view with anything are you looking at the water i'm looking at your hands looking at my hands okay i was going to step back and get an overall angle i got here am i in it yeah all right okay guys don't give me a bunch of thumbs down on this okay now spool her up okay kind of pan over mic they can see the line coming off the spool over there mike you're doing fantastic that's sarcastic huh that's sarcastic you can see okay you can actually see here there's a little bevel you want to stop before the bevel if you guys can see that or not so we're just keeping tension on the line go waste through it see the line there see the line there if i was doing this wrong that line would be full of twists okay that's one way to check it yeah put a lot of line under mike we want you getting spooled yeah my big old fish remember what happened last time happened me twice yeah your line broke last time out so that's why we're putting new line on here yeah happened twice okay you guys probably can't see this but here's the bevel and then there's like a maybe a 16th or so from the bevel to the line you can see that there the little flat surface under the bevel there to the line about a 16th of an inch or so eighth is great you know if you put too much line on there it's going to want to jump off and you're going to have nothing but you're going to have nothing but line issues on the water so do not overfill a spinning reel that's about perfect right there okay and you can see guys at the end of the spool job here the line is not twisted again if i was doing this wrong that line would be full of twists okay so now we're gonna take it cut it off and i'm sure we're gonna tie on probably the yoda worm i'd imagine we're up here dude white yoda we're up here white yodo i'm not even sure if this video is going to get published i'm gonna have to watch it back but guys it's that easy to spool up a spinning reel now i'm going to soak it with a cavity lining lure i'm a big believer in line conditioner you don't have to do that but again i feel it it truly does work it takes a lot of the memory out of the line now let's say you did do this wrong and you're getting ready to get on the water something you can do is start trolling or even get on the motor keep the line to the side let all your line out and you can do this with no lure on or even put a small lure on get all the line out you can keep tension on the line as you reel it back in and once you get to just a few feet below the tip if you have a lure on there you're going to see that lure spinning and all those line twists will come out but like i said guys if you do it like this the first time you're not going to have any line issues out on the water guys hopefully this video was watchable again we ain't going to note that we re-watch it back but i hope you guys enjoyed the video smash the thumbs up we will see you guys on the next one
