[Music] what's going on guys Dylan here from dehaze is custom footwear and welcome back to yet another video today it's gonna be a little bit of a different video usually you might be joining us for a full tutorial on something in the custom sneaker room or just watching us for a full custom walkthrough on something we might be working on but today's a little bit unique because we have something highly anticipated and highly requested from our fans here on YouTube that you guys have wanted us to release for quite a while we're gonna be releasing our first airbrush textured stencil pen and so we're gonna be releasing six different textures for you guys as you can see there's a roughly five by five or so so the perfect size no matter what kind of shoe you're gonna be working on and there's a lot of different variations and a lot of different textures that are really gonna help go a long way in creating those really unique fitting backgrounds for whatever your theme may be and I really can't stress enough how much this is something I wish I had when I first started out I didn't really even airbrush shoes for the first three to four years or so let alone have these cool textured stencils to use but these are something that in my opinion just really helped take that overall theme to the next level and if you're familiar with our art style at all you'll notice that these exact stencils are ones that you've seen us use on countless pairs here on YouTube or maybe you've checked out some of our other work on Instagram and since we're doing all these tutorials constantly a lot of people are just asking how did they get their hands on these how can they start using some of them so we really wanted to create this video and drop this textured stencil pack so you guys could go ahead and start creating some of your own stuff and so the way that I go about using stencils like this is I first have my overall theme in mind that I'm gonna be doing on my specific pair for example the theme in today's pair is gonna be a Dragonball Z Rolly themed pair and we're gonna be trying to achieve a fight scene look between Gogeta and Broly and so the specific scene that we're trying to achieve today is a battle scene where they're fighting in front of a volcano and so then you just start to think about well what are some of the textures that you would be seeing in a battle scene in front of a volcano well obviously you'd have a lot of magma and whatnot from the lava you'd have all the different rocky textures from within the volcano you'd have a lot of that crackle look within all of the ground showing that breaking and rupturing and then there's just all these other different types of textures and patterns that you might start thinking about in your head and so now if you're able to give your background some texture in some real life to it all of a sudden the overall theme is just completely elevated and so before we can move forward I think it's time that we take a step back and look at some of my previous artwork so I can show you guys some of my older themes and how they could be completely elevated and taken to that next level up to a much higher standard if we were able to use some of the textured stencils that we have in today's video so first off we have this Freddy Krueger Air Jordan one low we have the classic Freddy Krueger sweater stripes featured throughout and then with the rest of the shoe I was kind of somewhat trying to emulate Freddy skin so I kind of wanted to go with that rip skin look and show some blood and whatnot with the red and I remember trying to do this effect with a really old paintbrush the bristles were already messed up at the end and overall this just doesn't help sell the theme in my opinion but now if we fast forward a little bit to a more recent Freddy Krueger theme here you can see I was much more able to achieve that dark grungy look the sweater even has a little bit of an older feel to it and that skin texture looks a million times better by using some of these airbrush extensions if you start to become really good at this I think an overall goal of yours should be to try to capture a texture enough through your artistry that people almost think they could rub their finger across the shoe and they're gonna feel that texture that they're saying and so when looking at this pair I want that skin texture to come through strong enough that just like Freddy's skin you wouldn't want to just go up and touch so now if we take a look at another old pair we have this Statue of Liberty Jordan one and so we have that mint color donning the entire upper and then I was trying to achieve as somewhat of a patina look I did that same exact effect that I talked about earlier on my early Freddy pair I just took an old paint brush that already had some messed-up bristles and try to achieving this patina look but it doesn't come through the same way that it would if you had some of these textured senses and so now after taking a look at this I don't have a new pair to show to you but I am gonna take a note that it's time to do a new Statue of Liberty person and so the last old pair that we're gonna be looking at is something that we also talked about in another recent Joker video that we did here is my first variation I did that bee choker thing custom on a Jordan one and so we have a couple panels here that are completely purple along with a few portraits of the Joker himself but in my opinion there's just a huge missed opportunity here of trying to emulate some texture from the Joker so whether that be through trying to capture his shirt or trying to capture that grungy look of his makeup all messed up obviously when we look at the pair that I did more recently on a pair of cleats I really went to capture some of that Joker just kind of grungy overall later in the Dark Knight movie kind of beat up and worn out type look and so now if we take a look at some of my favorite recent pairs that we've done we have this Thanos themed plea we started things off with a super vivid purple donning the entire upper and work super well with this gold soleplate and then from there I knew that ultimately we wanted to do a cartoon portrait of Thanos himself on one of the cleats and then and on the other cleat we wanted to go ahead and just capture his hand with all of those Infinity stones but before that this purple by itself wasn't gonna be enough in my opinion so we had to give this background some real character and life and so you'll see I just used a lot of these stencils and some different hues that are really near purple whether it be a lighter purple and darker purple darker blue or some pinks just colors that are really close to that purple it just gave these so much more life in my opinion same thing that you'll see with this venom pair of cleats here all blue upper but the background just has so much more character when you start placing elements like this in the background and then another pair that garnered a lot of attention from you guys was this pub G inspired pair of cleats where we tried to emulate the cover screen from the game itself and so we have the main character walking from an explosion with the sky in the background and the ground near the bottom of the cleat and we just used some of these textures to just really bring this artwork to life and so now after being at this for so many years I have hundreds of stencils but these ones that we're gonna be releasing in this texture stencil pack are by far my favorite ones these are my go-to and quite frankly if you've watched any of their videos these are gonna be the ones that you guys are gonna recognize so by now you guys are probably wishing that I would stop talking and you could start seeing these in actions [Music] so we already have our gradient laid out on this pair from light to dark yellow to orange to red to a really deep dark brown almost black type and so now you're probably wondering how do you actually go about picking out some colors to use for these stencils and one of the first things that I like to do on all of my pairs is just take the main color that you used for the overall theme which in this case is red and then you can either create a lighter or darker variation of that red itself by mixing in some white or mixing in some black and then just start filling out some of the overall space with that lighter color here you'll see I started things off with this darker red in this really cool different size cell shapes that's now since we're working with some volcano scenery that I mentioned way earlier in the video I want to create a magma look with one of our stencils in the first color that popped into my mind to do that was a lighter orange so I just took my main orange that I used to create the gradient mix then a few drops of white and then you'll see me starting to place this all over - now one quick little tip just to keep your stencils in really good shape and to get a lot of use out of them it's just after each huge just quickly Dada them with a rag or something that you have nearby and then so as far as using the rest of the stencils we're gonna be following the same exact principles that we just talked about of using hues that are already within your design we have this gradient laid out of yellow to orange to red to a deep dark red and then we're just gonna take some of those colors add in some slightly different hues whether it be lighter or darker and then just have some fun placing different types of stencils all throughout your design and so this is where things start to get really fun because you just get to really play with these stencils you can use higher contrast colors or lower contrast colors if you don't want your background to be as prevalent or you can go super big and bold super strong contrast really get in there with your plaques and whatnot to just create a really strong and bold background if that's what you're going for but if you want it to be a little more subtle you could go with there's just a slightly different shade of red or orange whatever you may be working with to just really create that texture that requires a second look when people are looking at signs that you don't notice at first but all of a sudden when you start taking a second look if you start to see that there's a lot of these other elements kind of hidden in the background and so now before we're ready to dive into some of our character work these are what a typical pair looks like before us right before we get to that step so you'll see that I have a ton of different elements going on I use six different stencils six different colors along with the four colors that were already laid out in the gradient and in my opinion there's just so much life and character already within this design before we even get into any of that character and so now is typically the time where we would show you guys our fellow tooth picking some of the black line work that we would be doing on one of these characters you guys do you guys want to see that all right yeah Oh Jason go ahead and post that on the screen fire what's that what do you want me to tell him you want me to tell him to throw a filter on it and some black bars and make it have that kind of cool cinematic look Jason go ahead and do that for [Music] Oh after that you guys want to see how they came out - all right yeah we can do that we'll show you how they came out after we're done [Music] [Music] [Music] alright guys we hope you had some fun with today's video and Noah was a long one but we really are excited to release this textured stencil back to you guys it's something that has been highly requested by you guys for a long time so we're just really excited to get it out there start to see the feedback from you guys and ultimately see a lot of the stuff that you guys are able to create with this and so something that's really interesting to me guys as far as releasing a textured stencil pack like this is when we first started out this YouTube thing quite frankly a lot of people around me s you know aren't you afraid that you're creating competition for yourself by putting out tutorials like this and so ultimately yeah this is gonna hopefully inspire other artists out there to get out there and just create but that's exactly what we want within these videos for people to be able to follow along and do some of the cool unique designs that we're able to do here on YouTube and we want to be able to teach this community because I think for so long so many of the secrets within sneaker customizing we're just held super tightly near and dear till out of the top artists heart and it took a while for this to become a popular thing on YouTube with some of the pioneers who just killed it years before we got on here Sophie cerrado angeles's page just teaching people how to do some of this stuff and ultimately this is just gonna be a challenge for me and I know that I constantly have to be sharpening my sword per se because there's always gonna be new artists bursting onto the scene and creating a name for themselves I know that I can't take it easy and I constantly have to be trying to better up myself awesome and so that's kind of my response too when people ask how do you feel about creating competition or something like that ultimately I think it's only gonna be good for me to work that much harder so if you are interested first link in the description go ahead get your texture stencil pack and we really really really really can't wait to see what you guys get out there and just create all right there you have it guys go ahead smash that like button for us hit that subscribe button turn on that belt do all those other things that LC youtubers harass you to do at the end of every single video follow us on all of our social medias and we'll see you guys in the X video
