How to setup a BUNGEECORD Server [2023]

hello there everyone harvey from elixnode here and today i'm going to be showing you a video guide on how to set up bungee cord for your server [Music] firstly we need to establish what a bungee cord is bungee cord is used to connect multiple minecraft servers together into one network for ease and is used by many large minecraft servers like this one and this one who are also looking to connect multiple individual servers to one network also by the way if you're an elixir node customer you can pay for us to set up your bungee cord for only 7.50 through creating a ticket or selecting bungee cord setup when purchasing your server anyways how do you set it up firstly you need at least three minecraft servers to start one proxy one lobby and one game server at a minimum we've made a nice diagram that you can see here to see how it works okay so firstly we're going to be setting up our proxy we recommend that you use a server with around 500 megabytes to three gigabytes of ram which is dependent on how many players and plugins you actually have nonetheless if you have that download bungeecord.jr and upload it to the home of your file manager then click the start button of your server and your proxy should be set up make sure that your bungeecord.jar name is identical to the one in the startup parameters like this if it isn't make sure to change it now we're going to be setting up our lobby and game server which you do in the exact same way so make sure to replicate these steps for both of your servers firstly make sure that your server is running spigot or paper or anything like that and make sure every file has been loaded like these have on my server once this has been done we're going to head over to our server.properties file and set the online mode section like you can see here to false and click the save button once you've done this head over to our spigot.yml and set the bungee cord section here to true just like i've done finally we must now secure our individual servers by preventing players from actually joining through individual servers and not the proxy and to do this we're going to use a plugin like ipwhitelist this is linked in the description however you may use any other alternative plugins but that might require different setups to what we're doing now anyways if you're going to be using the ipwhitelist plugin firstly upload the jar to your plugins folder of your individual servers and then after uploading them restart your server and head to the console and insert this command that you can see on screen now ipwl add ip and then put the bungee cord ip of your proxy this will now allow players to only be able to join through your bungee cord ip and not through your separate sub servers after we've done this we are now going to head back over to our bungee cord proxy and we're going to configure it head over to our config.yml section and we're going to set the ip forward section to true and set the max players and you can actually set your max players to whatever you like but i'm going to go 25. after this we're now going to go about and we're going to connect our lobby and game servers to the proxy so people can connect to them to do this scroll down to the server section of the config.yml and enter out these sections here this name section can be whatever you like it to be but when they do server that will be the server they connect to for the message of the day section only enter this for the lobby server because that's what players are going to see when they join your server and enter in the ip addresses and port of each of your individual servers just like i've done here once you've added all of your individual servers it should now look like this anyways just before we have finished our proxy configuration you need to ensure that under the priorities list the lobby server is at the top just by itself and you need to set force default server to true and you're actually now done you should now be able to connect to the ip of your proxy and run the command server and see if list of servers you can connect to like i have in here however if this has not worked and you cannot figure out what has actually gone wrong or you have any extra questions feel free to contact us through the link on screen and in the description as we're always happy to help anyways thank you for watching this tutorial like and subscribe goodbye
