you have been provided with an airsense10cpap machine to help support your breathing while you sleep the machine works by blowing air at low pressures to keep your airways open this should make your sleep better quality in the bag you will have the machine itself the power pack tubing a nasal mask and paperwork which includes the manufacturer's handbook our cpap users handbook and a full face mask sizing gauge to set the machine up it plugs into the mains the green light on the power pack shows that it is working it then plugs directly into the back of the machine the tubing goes on the elbow piece and also slots directly into the back where it can swivel the mask then fits directly onto the tubing this mask size fits most faces and can be adjusted using the velcro straps at the top and at the bottom it hooks on as so for more information see our mask fitting guide to put the mask on the straps go over the head and it sits over the nose use the hooks either side to attach it on it should fit fairly snug and we can use the velcro to adjust it and to start the machine press the button at the top it will start at a pressure of four after a few seconds the screen will go dark so that you've not got any light in your room while you sleep when you do fall asleep the pressure will adjust itself upwards to give you the best possible treatment it may be that if you wake up in the night it might feel quite a bit stronger than what it did when you first went to sleep this is normal and if it bothers you you can just turn the machine off and turn it back on again then it will start gentle and build its way back up in the morning press the button again and you will get a sleep report which shows how long you've had it on for it will give you a green smiley face if your mask fit is good or it will give you a red sad face if it isn't if you get a red side face it doesn't mean that your machine isn't working it just means that you need to adjust your mask you should wear your mask whenever you're sleeping whether this is at night or during the day as well to remove the mask unhook it and lift it over the top of the head the mask and the tubing needs to be kept clean and you can see our masking tube cleaning video for more information when not in use the machine should be left plugged in at the wall and switched on at all times to benefit from the cpap and have issued to you long term we would expect that it is used on most nights for a minimum of four hours we are able to monitor your usage remotely and resmed the company that produces the machine also have an app called myair you can register your machine and get feedback on how your treatment is going yourself for further information you can see the manufacturer's handbook or you can look at our other videos if you have questions or need further information you can contact us at our email address leads.sleep nhs.net or on our phone number zero one one three two zero six six zero four zero and follow the instructions you
