time to season another blackstone griddle follow my rules for a super slick sexy surface start off using the girl block hit the entire surface to smooth out any imperfections this step really helps to achieve that non-stick super slick surface then you're going to give it a wash this is the only time you're going to use dish soap on your black stone rinse off all that soap turn your burners to high heat and let your griddle dry out for about 10 minutes you'll notice a change of color especially in the center of your black stone now you want to grab your black stone seasoning and conditioner put down a couple tablespoons of that and give it a quick rub in with a little paper towel you want to make sure that this is evenly spread throughout don't forget the sides and the back if you see any pooling be sure to give that a wipe in so keep your eye on it you'll instantly see your smoke start to roll off your black stone it's gonna burn off for about 10 minutes until that smoke dies down and then you'll repeat the process three times total you can also use this to condition giving your black stones a little love whenever needed about once a month so i decided to give my other 36 a little extra love with the conditioner it really helps to bring it back to life and keep it nice and slick and black my number one rule is your first cook should always be onions cut up a bag of onions it doesn't matter what they look like what shape cut them up toss them in a little bit of oil and then throw them down onto your hot black stone let these onions cook around all the edges especially the corners this is going to help you get that black surface everywhere for years and years onions have been used to season woks along with cast iron skillets there's sulfur in the onions that really help to polymerize the oil to the cast iron and really help to achieve that black surface you can push these along the edges piling them up to make sure that your sides and the back get nice and black so if you hear someone tell you to make sure that your first cook is bacon tell them to take a hike you do not want to use bacon as your first cook it's expensive and you run the risk of it burning and sticking to your new blackstone surface bacon is full of salts and sugars you just don't want bacon to be your first cook onions will work like magic to achieve that super black shiny nonstick surface after your onions cook down for about 10 to 15 minutes your surface is going to be so shiny and so sleek and slick you're gonna love this trick so be sure to do it now you're ready for cooking anything you want especially those sexy eggs they'll never stick
