hi Shannon again from host improvements comm today we're going to give you a quick video on sanic driver that will go along with our other two videos on applying drywall that so we'll start today by just showing you some of the tools you're going to need basically what I want to eat for this is you definitely need a dust mask this is very dusty it's hard on the lungs so make sure you have a mask you're going to need a few different sanding materials you're going to need some sanding sponges I recommend the sponges that have fine grit on one side and medium grit on the other and that have square corners so you need those you need a hand sander that has a piece of this oxide a sandpaper major sanding drywall on them clamp on there I don't know what the grit is it's just put it again it's probably about two or three hundred grit but here's your local hardware store we'll have that the other sanding product you may want to have is a pole sander and itself got a little different to sandpaper on it it's me to quickly remove larger amounts you Compu hassle with large ridges or something and it also was good the ceiling just for the quick initial sanding so you don't have to be on the ladder you're also going to need a light source of some kind I like to use a trouble light your you need this to shine across the work surface you're working on it will cast a shadow on any little ridges or imperfections it will really help you see exactly what you need to remove you need a pencil because that's your sanding you may come across some spots that you know are going to need a little touch-up a month later and you're never going to find it after you're done sanding so I just put a little circle mark or pencil mark around going so I can come back to them and then as well before you get started I go around with a six inch drywall length and just knock off any lumps or bumps that you know are all along the edges that you definitely go neat they tend to want to roll underneath your sanding blocks and leave gouges when you're done the project I use this a little bit heavier to screen for for screen scraping the lumps off the floor it's just a just a force creeper so I probably well and then as well sometimes in the corners you get a buildup of dust where you've sanded I just take an old paint brush and use that too wait so those are the main things you may need this tuple or a stepladder or something to reach depending on what how you're working out then we're finally cleaning up I like to use a shop vac and it's very important that you put a bag and the proper filters in the shop back if you don't use a bag what happens is shot back sucks it up and it just shoots the dust grade out into the room and you just end up more dust particles poked around so make sure you have a bag in there and that'll really help you out put a bit so we're going to set up here in a hole start out by showing you an inside the order how to get going and open there so we're going to begin by standing this inside corner that is on the wall and up against the ceiling so as I said before I take my six inch knife you got a little bump on the edges just keep it quick a little Street and I mean I go around I mean the whole room first and then I won't have to carry this thing around anyways we go out that now in this case this is where I want to use my my sanding sponge and I always want to start up right up in the corner and I'm going to go back and forth what I end up getting is the top man in the wall wait into the corner just a nice corner and then I worked my way bolt down onto the wall onto the ceiling to taper the two edges but like that and then you can see I'm shining my light across you probably can't see from the the camera view but it's just magnifying every little bump or lumber or imperfection because it cast a shadow across there and it really makes a lot easier to see with the light so I'm just going to grab my mouse and then I'm going to go ahead and give this quicksand then we're going to work our way down to some screws to a bevel joint and to a buck joint as well okay I'm all asked up that helped my lungs and we'll start Sandesh okay so that gets my corner started oh you'll see that you're going to see any little bubbles air bubbles that were trapped there open up try to sand - those are gone you don't want to sound so far then great to the to the paper corner beam that you put in there a tweener okay not little area knob obviously I'll get about two foot spa that's done that's ready to bride another thing to remember let me said with the paintbrush that the paintbrush there you've got any any dust that's up in the corner you can give it a quick Russian get rid of it rub your hand across there off the main stuff off some people use a damp as a lot I've never had good luck with that I just try to you know make sure I get the most of it off so they can and we do a priming video you'll see how they deal with it out of them okay like something I threw out the mention is I always like to start at the top to that way your dust is falling down and as you're moving down the wall sounding different parts you know you're kind of eliminated a lot of that dust as you go if you start from the bottom up you go that's just cleaning to the wall because it's it's falling down to what on top of what you've already sounded so we start with our top car as we move down the hall there's some screws here so I'll head down okay so I got my screwed up into a bevel point I'm going to use my pad here just to flatten things out to get started okay so I've knocked off the main part I'm going to finish it up with my sponge and again I'm just checking with my leg looking for any little spots on my behalf and looks pretty good not me heat it a good standing and easy sacking job is to putting the hot on smooth to start with smooth in the system if you've got a big blobby mess you're going to be sanding here for hours but so the key is to have smooth to start with wait let's work on the sanding end of it so there we've worked ourselves our way down now just behind here at all Tarbuck joint now the butt joint is the joint where you've got the two square edges into the sheets butted together and teeth you got them really focusing same process once you get it away start with my big sander and motorbikes butter okay so that that's really the bit the basics behind sounding like I said just use these two products the sponges just basically helps you get your edges feathered over and it's got a real fine finish on one side so this would be the finished product we moved over to a wall we Sanders earlier you can see we've got the nails done the bevels down here when you're done you should see that it basically goes from the color of the drywall and tapers into whiter and whiter until you get to the mean major part of the mud and then like said with that light you're going to see every every little Ridge if you don't get it sounded great so now if you do get a spot where you need to go back and add a little more my maybe sounded too far in you're down to the tape again or there's an air bubble or some imperfection that you just can't stand out what I do is I'll take my mom in my trade and I'll add a little little bit yellow coloring to that mud just mix it in my tree then I'll use that not to go back and do my touch-ups the reason for that is if I do my touch-ups right onto this surface once and dry is really hard fine but with the yellow food coloring it just gives a little offset in color and it's easy to go back and find all the ones that you have there so you can get them sound out and again just use your like and sponge on your your flat hand sander so that's sanding gravel and like I said that complements our other videos we've already done on mudding drywall and you can see those ones as well on our YouTube channel or you can go to host improvements calm and see all the other articles we have thanks
