How to OCR PDFs to searchable and editable text on Android

hello everyone I'm Chris welcome back to wondershare PDF elements official YouTube channel in today's video we're going to explore a very exciting feature that is been updated recently to PDF element imagine you've got a stack of paper documents maybe it's an old report a contract or some handwritten notes you need to update some information but all you have is the hard copy so you start the tedious process of retyping everything into a digital document word for word line by line or let's say you have a scanned p F but you can't edit it directly because the text is essentially an image so you're back to square one stuck retyping everything that's where OCR optical character recognition comes in it turns those uneditable images or scan documents into editable text saving you from the headache of manual [Music] retyping with the increasing digitization of documents the need for efficient OCR tools on mobile devices has become everyday necessity recognizing this demand wonders sure PDF element has integrated an advanced OCR feature into its Android app empowering users to effortlessly convert images paper documents or scan PDFs into editable text now I will show you two different methods to transform scan documents into searchable and editable PDFs the first step is to download the wondershare PDF element Android app once you've installed the app and opened it you'll be greeted with a home screen displaying all your documents choose the scan document that you wish to edit upon opening the document you'll notice an OCR PDF button located in the top right corner of your screen go ahead and click this button the next step is simply selecting the recognition language the app provides a variety of language options so make sure to select the one that corresponds to the language of your PDF after this you'll encounter two OCR options here you'll want to select convert to editable text and then click on recognize the app will take a few moments to recognize the text once the recognition process is complete a notification will pop up on your screen by pressing open you'll be able to see the results which is an editable copy of your PDF now comes the fun part editing your document to start making changes click on the plus sign locate in the bottom of the screen and select edit this will allow you to change the position of headings or edit the text as you see fit remember to save your changes once you're done we also have a shortcut to start the OCR function all you have to do is go back to the homepage now locate the scan PDF that you want to work on as you will see there's a Tre dots button next to your PDF go ahead and give that a click and a new interface will pop up this interface is like a toolbox for your document select OCR PDF that changes the scan document into text you can edit then the app will do its magic and once it's done you can open the newly recognized PDF now the rest of the process is similar to the previous method you'll see a plus button in the lower right corner click it and choose edit and just like that you're all set to make any changes you want to your PDF wonders sure PDF element has made it possible to convert images captured from mobile devices into editable text as well this means you can now snap a picture of a document or business with your smartphone and easily convert it into an editable format or Simply Save any photo from the internet and convert it into an editable format with the OCR feature you can effortlessly transform physical images like business cards or paper documents into editable digital formats in just one snap and here's how you can do it first of all open the PDF element app you'll notice a plus button located in the lower right corner of the screen a menu will appear with several options from these select the from camera option this action will activate your device's camera place the business card in front of the camera make sure it's well lit and clearly visible if the text on the business card is quite small you might want to consider capturing the image in landscape mode this can often help to improve Clarity and readability once you've nicely captured the image the application will automatically generate a PDF of the business card at this point you might need to adjust the orientation of the business card in the PDF if so click on the plus button at the bottom right corner once again then select Pages a bottom toolbar will appear here choose the rotate option from this Toolbar to adjust the orientation of the business card as needed after making the necessary adjustments return to the previous page by clicking on the back button now you're ready for the final step converting the image into editable text to do this click on the OCR button and complete the setup as prompted by the application [Music] [Music] you can add new text move text boxes around or edit the existing text this feature is particularly useful for making changes to the information on business card or for copying information from one business card to another document don't forget that we can also use the camera to capture paper documents directly here's how you can do that once again open the PDF element app and click on the plus button from which you should select the prom camera option this allows you to capture an image of the physical document you wish to convert into a [Music] PDF after capturing the image and creating the PDF you'll need to make the text editable to do this locate and click on the OCR PDF button in the top right corner of the screen you can add delete or modify the text in your document you can also change the font size and color of the text if you want to move the text around simply click and drag the text box to your desired location you can also edit digital images for instance while browsing Facebook you might come across an interesting image save this image directly to your phone storage then open the PDF element click the plus button and open a new menu and select the from Gallery option this will allow you to choose the image you saved earlier and create a PDF from it following the previous steps we can make digital images editable through OCR [Music] PDF to sum up the OCR feature is a significant advancement that enhances the efficiency of digital document management it allows user to effortlessly
