hello my sweets welcome back when was the last time you enjoyed this local delicacy too beef and smoked hering jolof rice if you've forgotten let me remind you so we begin by boiling our too beef to get rid of some of the salt or most of the salt you can also soak this overnight to get the same results but I've done that a couple of times so I figured we're going to boil it this time while that is going on we are going to debone and soak our herrings as well to ensure that they become nice and soft or to our preferred tenderness okay so I'll debone everything and transfer it into a separate Bowl to that I'll add add some room temperature water and allow it to sit and soften while we continue with the cooking [Music] process back to check on our Tulu beef it boiled for about 10 minutes so we'll get it out of the water get rid of that water and boil it for a second time if we feel it is still salty and of course I'm going to do that because we're a low sodium type of family this time I added some Habano peppers and onions to flavor it up a bit and I allowed it boil for an additional 8 minutes and it was perfect so now let's begin to a pan or pot go ahead and add in your choice of oil we are using coconut oil this was too much so I got rid of some of it before adding in our onions we're going to fry the onions just until it begins to Brown on the edges just like you see right here and at this time we'll add in our too beef give it a quick stir and then we'll be adding in one spice blend Cube for the absolutely delicious flavor it adds to our meals we have a recipe on that I'll leave the link for you to check it out give it a quick stare and add in our soaking herrings okay we're adding them in from the very beginning so that by the time our food is ready it'll be nice and soft to our taste so it fried for about five additional minutes and then I added some Habano Peppers our homemade tomato sauce rings out the bowl added the water give it a quick stare and I'm also going to add in the water from soaking our herrings at this point you can also add in some of the water from cooking your too beef you know that gives it an amazing flavor that you don't want to miss stir everything together cover and bring it to a boil once it boils allow it simmer down completely stirring periodically so that it doesn't burn and at this point I add in some curry powder to add an additional delicious flavor to our galof rice I'll give it a quick stare allow it simmer while I go ahead to wash our rice and I always wash my rice until the water runs clear okay once we add our rice in we're going to season it with a little bit of salt and then we'll stir everything together until each grain is well coated with some of our sauce we'll then cover it up and cook it on low heat for about 3 to 5 minutes come back give it a stare cover and repeat the process this helps our jolof rice cook faster once we've added the water now this process is totally optional but but it helps a lot especially for beginners so if you do this your rice will come out beautiful and it'll be perfect so you see how it is separated now almost as if it doesn't have any water that is where you want it to be before you go ahead and add in your water you can add cold water but I prefer to add in hot water just enough just a little bit cuz at this point our rice is halfway cooked because we cooked it little by little I did that process for about four times before adding the water and now I'll cover it with a parchment paper and then the lid lower the heat allow it cook for about 15 minutes on medium low come back fluff it up once you fluffed this up it needs just about 5 minutes to be ready today's special tool goes to a b Isa gracious chushi and Francis beu from Scotland UK thank you for always watching and engaging in my videos and we are back look at our jof rice it is ready perfectly single grained and I was roasting some plantain and I made a quick cucumber salad so that is what we would be enjoying this with bring your plate and let me serve you did you enjoy today's recipe would you be giving it a try let me know in the comment section now all that is left is for us to serve and enjoy if you've enjoyed me until now I do want to thank you so very much why not let me know where you're watching from and I'll give you a special to in our next recipe until I see you in the next one stay safe keep loving each other and remember that the love of God and family is life's greatest blessing and guys [Music] bysh sending money any other way tap tap send is the way way to go download it today and use our short code sweet team to get a $115 bonus when you send your first 50 so the person you're sending it to get to get an extra $15 on us
