hey everybody so today I wanted to go over some ideas on how to turn your mid Journey images into cinematic videos and for those of you who have never edited before I've got a piece of software with some pretty unique AI tools that I think is going to be pretty interesting to you so let's go check it out so just as a bit of an introduction here you might remember a little while back there was a trend of X thing as a dark 80s fantasy movie that was shortly followed up by like X thing as a 80s sitcom the majority of those videos were pretty much powered by mid-journey version four if you look back into the archives you can definitely see that V4 look the formula to it was pretty simple it was just 80s film Dark Fantasy movie and then you know whatever property you wanted to turn into a dark 80s fantasy movie by now the trend has pretty much died out and actually I kind of think that's a shame not that it necessarily died out and sort of weeded out all the lower effort stuff but rather that it didn't evolve into something new which is what I was really hoping it was going to and that's not to say that people have stopped doing interesting work one old friend of the channel AI lost media recently did a mid-journey powered mockumentary about the Doomsday cult that inspired the Nintendo Game Animal Crossing it's really kind of amusing and pretty dark I the link is below you should really check it out and via the comments I was introduced to the shorts Channel Ava tells Tales which is an experiment in having chat gbt write short scary stories and then having a mid-journey character narrate those stories via did and a voice generator it's a pretty cool little Channel and those are the kinds of things that I'd really love to see more of so I thought with this video I would provide you with some ideas on how to turn your mid-journey images into cinematic videos and more importantly tell you a couple of things that you should probably avoid okay with that introduction done let's go get started so for today's video I'm going to be using wondershare filmora I was recently provided with an evaluation copy of it and this video is powered by wondershare filmora but after spending some time with it I think that it's a really good choice if you're just getting started with video editing so I'm going to take you through some of the AI tools that are in it as well which are pretty interesting so obviously you start off with a blank slate here so let's head over to Mid journey and create some images to bring in so if you watch my previous video on cinematic prompting you'll know that I have sort of a general soft formula for creating cinematic images and that is slash imagine cinematic still film by a scene a subject an action a set a link the shot and then dash dash so I'm not going to go through an elaborate explanation on all of that um the link to that video is down below if you haven't caught it but you should be able to follow along just fine so one of the things that always bugged me about that 80s you know Dark Fantasy Trend was the fact that it was all sort of random images there was no sort of linear story to it so I decided for this example that I would try to create a loose a story as I possibly could so that you know there was something this is just an example so it's not going to be extremely elaborate and to be honest I'm kind of making it up as I go along so so I started it off with basically an establishing shot cinematic still filmed by gilmal Del Toro house on a hill stormy day wide angle and an AR of 16 9 and you know these images came up which was pretty nice from there we moved into an establishing shot of our main character walking up the stairs our character opening up the door to the house moving into the house and you know presumably going up the stairs she's now gone up the stairs and she's in this kind of creepy hallway we reveal a creepy cabal um you know at a long table although actually looking at this now I just realized that they have just little maybe it's a tea party they all just have teacups but whatever and then we conclude with an empty space with a face mask on it presumably this is our main character is now taking her place at the table it's a very basic and simple story I'll give you that but you know it's just sort of for demonstration purposes anyways so now that we have our images let's see what we can do to make them a little more cinematic so now we have our images in I'll say one thing that always bothers me when I see kind of mid-journey slideshows is the fact that people don't time their images out it's they just sort of take their images and drag them onto a timeline and you know they'll be set at these five second intervals so it just makes everything feel very flat and kind of boring so what we're going to do is add some audio in to give this a sense of pace something that I like about wondershare particularly if you're just getting started is the fact that you've got this audio tab here that has you know just a ton of Music interestingly enough they also have a whole AI music section in here as well which I think is pretty neat so we can take any one of these and just drag them into our timeline and we now have music to cut to okay so I did find this piano key that I kind of like let's take a listen real quick right so now let's reorder our images around so that they make narrative sense um that's actually easy enough just grab a clip and kind of slide them around and if you've never video edited before it actually is like just super super easy it's literally just a matter of dragging your pieces around like little Lego bricks and connecting them together so we now have all of our images laid out into a sequential and linear order it runs about 35 seconds but that's going to get hacked down a pretty good amount what is interesting is that so our music doesn't cover that entire section and I found this in really really fascinating in filmora so what we can do is comp into this audio stretch and then literally drag it and AI will fill in the remainder of that music it's actually pretty kind of crazy and you can do this for your own tracks as well which is yeah that's really really fascinating yeah so that's pretty cool so now that we have our music let's go start working on our images so one of the things that I always like to do is to try to add as much movement as you possibly can to still images because you know obviously that makes it more visually exciting so let's open with a kind of a horizontal opening here um these are these transitions I'm going to actually mute the piano here because that'll get annoying really quickly try that out yeah that's actually pretty nice let's add in as well a push into the house so that it's got just a little bit of horizontal movement and vertical movement not vertical I'm sorry z-axis movement in order to do a push in uh we just set a keyframe let's move this all the way back over here and we're going to set a keyframe here and we're going to move it all the way over and then we're gonna slide her out and then set another keyframe and that should create an animation yep for our second shot I just added in some light leaks from the effects Tab and gave it a pull out because we had been pushing in on the previous shot a pull out makes the most sense so if you can see it in context here it comes and then now we're pulling out the third shot is where things get interesting as you can see I have one stacked on top of the other this is actually the same shot so I'm just going to double click on this and go into this AI tools and do smart cutout right here and double click on this and that gives us an image of you know our image so at that point I can just come in and paint her hand here very loosely and it auto masks her hand which is a super massive Time Saver I've got this mask so whatever I do here is just going to affect her hand so if we're really careful about it we can create a very subtle animation on our hand let's check it out so yeah it just kind of moves just a little bit but it just gives a little bit of movement to the image so a similar move for our next shot with a little extra spice so for our top layer I ended up using the AI smart cutout once again and just cut our actress out actress I call her um she is an actress she's a virtual actress and then for our background image here let me just mute that I just put a move where we're literally pulling out so it creates a parallax effect where um you know our virtual actress is coming towards us while our background is moving away from us so let's take a look at that really quickly and again very very simple to do looks great and then for our next shot again similar thing and then our last shot is just a pull back and then the reveal of our mask uh very briefly I did just add in a quick dissolve between these last two shots here and then a fade out here which is also just a dissolved to nothing um those are both in the effects tab very easy to find and get to um so let's run that all together and see what that looks like thank you so as you can see with some very basic edits Made Easy with filmora plus some kind of cool AI tools we have the start of something that is actually pretty interesting if you're interested in trying filmora out I have a link below it is free to try and they do have an upcoming live stream coming on April 26th and the topic is breaking the dimension bringing your imaginary world alive which I think is something that's pertinent to all of us my thanks to filmora for sponsoring this video and if you're interested in getting into video editing I do recommend this software so you know give it a go finally my name is Tim I thank you for watching
