How to Make Easy Stuffed Bell Peppers

[Music] hi everybody everybody i'm back everybody genie i'm just back and i'm back with yet another amazing recipe i am so excited yet another day because today at the young's house gina young is going to share with you all how easy it is to make delicious stuffed bell peppers these stuffed bell peppers right here they're amazing they're so easy to make they don't require a lot of ingredients and you know nicotine a young style they're going to be so tasty y'all never had my stuffed bell peppers before you better make yourself here are the lovely ingredients you will need of course you're going to need some nice beautiful bell peppers and it's up to you decide what color bell peppers you want to use i like to use a different color because it really makes the color pop and you get a different flavor with each pepper so right here i have the beautiful bell peppers okay you will need some fresh garlic look at that head of garlic right there huge you're gonna need a nice sweet vidalia onion you're going to need some rice now you can use any kind of rice you would like to use regular white rice brown rice i'm going to use this chicken flavored rice-a-roni you will need some crushed tomatoes and some mozzarella and you're also going to need a couple of spices so we can spice everything up here's what you'll need this way you will need some italian seasoning garlic and onion powder parsley flakes black pepper and salt and right here you will need some beef so i have some ground sirloin and some just regular ground beef 80 20. make sure your hands are impeccably clean let's get started with this really quick and simple yet so tasty recipe so one of the first things that i want to do is get started on my rice in this case we're making rice-a-roni now you could also use the spanish rice-a-roni delicious in my pan i have a little bit of vegetable oil and we're going to saute up my rice until this rice gets nice beautiful and golden brown after the rice gets golden brown i'll come back and show you what to do next i am just so excited i'm so excited for this recipe my family goes nuts over this recipe and what i love about it is it's so easy to make for this flavor and you try to eat it the next day listen they taste better even the next day okay so what we're gonna do while we're waiting on our rice to get nice beautiful and golden brown why not take this time to start cooking the beef and get it nice and seasoned all right we're gonna go in with some italian seasoning put a nice amount in there don't be afraid to season i know you're out there you wonder why sometimes your food has no flavor it's because you need a little bit more seasoning that was garlic powder this is onion powder oh yeah black pepper for sure let's get that flavor in there and then some salt you don't need to get crazy with the salt either be careful with the salt we want this ground beef to get nice beautiful golden brown and once that happens we'll come back and we'll drain the beef from all of the unwanted oil so you can see the beautiful golden brown color that we've achieved on our rice gorgeous color that we have there next thing we're going to do is we're going to put our seasoning pack in just like so okay and then we're going to put two and a half cups of cold water in you're going to have some steam so you want to back up a little bit just like so and once this comes up to a boil should only take about a minute or so once it comes up to a boil you cover it with your lid or your foil you turn it down on low cook it for 20 minutes and you're gonna have the most perfect nice and fluffy rice every time okay so we have our rice cooking it's going to cook for 20 minutes why put this is how i look at it when i think of making stuffed peppers why put plain ripe white rice if i can spit it out why put plain white rice in when you can put a flavor at rice and really bump up the flavor when we're cooking here at the young's house we want flavor on top of flavor on top of flavor let's take a peek in over here at the beef the ground sirloin and the ground beef i'm gonna get it nice and chopped up just like so you don't want huge pieces so we're gonna use this to break down the beef and make the pieces as small as possible now you can use a pound if you like you can use a pound and a half if you like all depending on if your peppers are big how many peppers you're gonna stuff and if you have any leftover meat you could throw some spaghetti sauce and make a small pot of spaghetti if you like you know you don't have to throw away any leftover ingredients never do that okay so we're gonna get this nice and golden brown and when i come back we'll get started on the veggies so when you're making stuffed bell peppers there's a lot of different ways you can do it now you can make a destructive is that the right word it's gonna be the right word today and you could literally chop this whole bell pepper up mix everything up throw it in the oven that way okay you could do that if you wanted to now you can cut the peppers this way okay and stuff them or you can do it like i like to do it this is how i like to do it i'm going to chop them down just like so okay see that right there if your bell pepper doesn't stand up straight you might have to do a number like this but you don't want to put holes in it you know just cut it just like that to make the surface nice and black you see that gorgeous now any bell pepper that we have like this we're going to chop it up because we're going to use it in our recipe so why not go ahead and chop this up now all right just like so you want to waste anything okay so that right there definitely gonna use it let's go ahead and get that chopped up just like so in this manner little tiny pieces it's gonna put flavor into your dish you know some people throw that away don't throw it away okay just like so when i come back we'll get started on those other peppers same thing so we've got all of our peppers nice and cut here's what they look like okay now what we need to do let's go ahead and chop into this onion i'm not trying to cry guys i don't want to cry i'm going to try to cut this onion up as quick as i can just like so and what we want to do yes of course you could put the veggies in with the meat and cook them that way but i find when you saute them up in a little bit of oil or a little bit of butter you get a better flavor you get a nice sweet taste to these veggies so that's what we're going to do we're going to take this we're going to cook it on a medium-high heat with a little bit of vegetable oil i might use a little bit of butter as well we're going to salt and pepper this and get it nice and salted now i'm going to come and i'm going to whack my garlic so we can chop that down as well i'm gonna get that garlic chopped up nice and fine and it's gonna be sauteed also okay okay so what i've done so far is i've drained the ground beef let's go ahead and take these gorgeous veggies get them nice and sauteed and i will put a tablespoon of butter in there as well like i said we're going to salt and pepper these veggies and when you saute them you have a totally different flavor you're going to get that nice sweet taste okay and i'm throwing the garlic in as well okay we don't have to cook them long let's just cook them for about eight minutes or so on a medium-high heat let's take a peek in over here at the ground beef it's well done and i've drained it from all of the oil okay i'm going to make my way over to the stove get this sauteed up and i'll be right back our rice-a-roni is done it's beautiful nice and fluffy and very well seasoned now here's what we're going to do something very very interesting let's talk about it really quickly we are going to do is we're going to take a lot of people let's talk about this first a lot of people make the mistake of making stuffed bell peppers and then when the bell peppers come out of the oven they don't get a nice soft bell pepper that they can cut into you should be able to cut into this bell pepper and be able to eat all of this now some people when they make theirs they wonder why the outer shell this part here is still a little bit hard everything else in the inside is done but they can't really cut down into it because it's tough here's how we're going to fix that problem you take your bell peppers you just set them into some water this is salted water and we're going to cook them for about five to seven minutes it's going to give them a head start on the cooking process okay you could put a little bit of foil on top of them i'm just going to take my pan there cover it up for a good seven minutes and then take them out of the water and then we'll get them nice and stuff now it's time to assemble our peppers so first thing take a look at the peppers i let them cook for about seven minutes and they've started the cooking process so we're not going to have that issue with tough peppers okay so now we have our meat that we've seasoned and cooked and we've drained it from the oil we have our sauteed veggies in the garlic let's get it right here into this bowl oh and my mouth is salivating right now my goodness okay so let's go ahead and mix in those gorgeous veggies into our meat beautiful color we have there and great taste that right there alone is delicious okay but now when you add your rice come on with it oh that flavor right there this is what you call flavor profile this is how you add flavor into your stuffed bell peppers gina young style when i come back i'm going to show you how to stuff the peppers and what temperature you need to cook them on so now that we have all of our mixture nice and mixed up here's what it looks like okay i'm gonna set that aside because we need to do one thing that one thing is we're going to take some of our crushed tomatoes crushed tomatoes i like to use the san marzano or i love to use hunts best flavors for me i put a little bit into i scoop just a little bit into the pepper for great flavor and then what we're going to do is we're going to pour some in our pan okay not too much don't get crazy with it you just want it to set and a you know just a little bed of tomato sauce just like this okay actually it looks like i might use the whole can because it's not a lot once we get it in there can you see that see down in there gorgeous and then our next thing let's go ahead and stuff these babies oh we take the filling you stuff your peppers oh [Laughter] girl you are something else now let's talk about it we're gonna get these in the oven 375 degrees we're going to cover them with foil and we're going to cook them for about 45 minutes now when they come out when we take them out like that last uh like eight minutes what we're gonna do we're gonna take it out take the foil off we're gonna put some cheese and parsley all over it a little bit more tomato sauce and we'll be done okay everyone so here's what we have we have the meat and the veggies and the rice nicely packed in we're going to cover this with just a little bit don't get crazy with it just a little tiny bit of sauce on the top just like so each one we're going to put them in the oven 375 degrees for about 45 minutes then we take it out of the oven we're going to put cheese on the top your favorite cheese whatever cheese you love that's what you're going to put on top we're going to let it get hot bubbly and nice and golden brown and your stuffed bell peppers gina young style will be done i'm going to come back i'm going to say an amazing prayer you all are going to get that first bite going in the oven with aluminum foil 45 minutes okay everyone so it's been about 40 minutes so we've taken our stuffed bell peppers out of the oven and here's what they look like just like so they are gorgeous oh wait and so now now is for time for the finishing touch get you some cheese on there you like hot pepper cheese put that on there if you like sharp cheese use that you like swiss whatever kind you like put on what you like so you can enjoy the recipe just like that and what i suggest is when you put your cheese on don't don't put it all over the bell pepper because you won't be able to see how gorgeous it is you want to be able to see those gorgeous colors shining through you know and the cheese will it will melt down the side but don't you know you get the just of what i'm trying to say okay back in the oven we go but before we do that we're going to do one more thing got to make everything nice and beautiful if you make a genie young style put you some parsley on there just like so as soon as this gets hot bubbly and golden brown i'm gonna come back say should see that cheese oozing you should see those gorgeous tomato sauce on the top the meat the garlic the peppers all the seasonings with this perfectly filled pepper i'm going in i'm going in right
