[Music] hey everybody welcome back to another City skylines tutorial videos so today I'm gonna be showing you how to make your cities skylines game look incredibly realistic using graphics mods from the Steam Workshop so just follow along this is really easy and anybody can make a massive improvement to how their game looks just by watching this video so let's get started in this video I'm gonna go over a bunch of mods that I use and how I use them just to make my city look realistic and just achieve this feel that you're seeing in the cinematics right now but anyway let's get started here so I've uninstalled all my visual mods just so we can start from scratch here what am I gonna want to do first first I'm gonna want to grab the daylight classic mod from the Steam Workshop so this is going to make my Sun tint a lot cooler just use the settings that I've got on screen right now and you're gonna achieve the same effect that I do and that's just going to reset your Sun temperature to pre after dark levels and that's what we're gonna use as a baseline for the rest of the settings that I show you in this video all of the mods I talked about will be linked in order in the description of the video so just scroll down and that's where you'll find them so the second mod on this list is called dynamic resolution so most you probably already have it but the idea is that it's mostly for people with lower resolutions like the ones on screen and least it mitigates that really grainy feel you have so you're gonna press f10 or change the percentage up to probably around 200 if you get 1080p resolution and adjust that as such with other resolutions but this is sort of the difference like you see how less grainy it is I will warn that this mod is definitely the most taxing on your game that'll be on this list but it's definitely still essential so what we're gonna go over next is how to get a nice color correction in-game and we're gonna use the relight mod for this the relight mod allows you to pretty much customize your own LUT or color correction while in-game which is an incredibly useful tool so get started you're gonna go into your graphics options menu and just choose the real I tell you T that works best for you as you can see there are many different options which can give you incredibly different results I use the average LUT from relight but now we're gonna go in and change some settings to customize it to what I think is best for my city now to open the relight menu press alt shift and L you have access to this menu which allows you to just change a lot different color settings and pretty much just customized this to your own liking there's no right answer for everybody and that's why I like this mod you can just adjust these settings - whatever you think suits your city you're pretty much making your own LUT here next year you want to choose the textures you see on your map like your grass texture your gravel texture your cliff texture and you're gonna want to choose a variety of different map themes for this I use Springwood as my base theme and you can really choose anything but you're gonna want to definitely grab environment changers so you can use any theme on any biome and you're also gonna want to grab theme mixer so that you can combine textures from different themes now what you want to do is hit load game and select the theme that you want as your Maps base theme once you're in your save you can just mess around just select different textures from different themes and see what you like best I'll have all the themes I'm using linked below and also the different textures I'm using and which themes they come from so next you're going to want to grab the ultimate eye candy mod which is one of my favourite mods so what this mod allows you to do you can pretty much adjust all of your lighting settings and you can use the global and ambient light intensity settings to just mess around and figure out what's best for your city and use the longitude setting to just change your Sun position that's really good for screenshots another thing that ultimate eye candy allows you to do is adjust the fog settings which means you can get really cool clouds and stuff like that and you can even toggle rain on in your city if you'd like once you're satisfied with the settings you've got you can go into the presets menu and just save a new preset and load it whenever you load your game and that's really convenient and as you can see now that we've combined ultimate eye candy with relay we can achieve some really awesome colors and lighting in-game in my other series ultimate eye candy enables me to not have my game look bleach white as you can see the next spot is not completely essential but I definitely recommend it clouds and fog toddler will allow you to remove that really annoying mist that you get when you adjust the cloud settings in ultimate eye candy I really like this but it's definitely just personal preference the next spot you should grab is post-process effects you should use the multi-platform version if you are on Mac or Linux but once you're in game press f9 to open up the menu and don't really worry about much other than the SSAO settings and the SSAO settings it's pretty much ambient occlusion put everything to max except the last slider and make sure you enable down sampling and the effects of this are extraordinary pretty much what this does is it adds shadows under objects which really adds a great level of detail to your city which you would not otherwise have it it's a complete game changer for me and as you can see we're definitely nearing ideal realism here so the next spot you're gonna want to grab is called Sun shaft so just grab that from the workshop it's a very minor mod the way I use it but once you're game press f8 so this will open up a menu where you can mess with rays that come down from the Sun and you can go however intense or subtle you'd like I actually like playing with a very very subtle addition of sun rays like you could barely notice it in these cinematics but it's there and I like it as a nice little addition to the game you could add more if you'd like but I prefer very subtle sun rays finally I'd like to recommend that you get a road texture mod I used roads United cork 2.0 and I use the North America plus texture pack with it go in game and enable it in your options menu if you're using roads United I just do this to add the extra realistic American touch because if I'm building a city that's heavily inspired by Providence Rhode Island I want American roads to go with it if you use this mod you could also decrease the brightness of your roads if you want dark asphalt it's not my thing but it's definitely an option I just definitely recommend that you grab some sort of Road texture mod to enhance the realism of your project so that's pretty much it for me hopefully well enjoy it I'll leave a couple extra mods in the description that you might find helpful but other than that we're pretty much done here so if you enjoyed it and if this tutorial helped make sure to leave a like because it really does help a lot and subscribe if you're new around here to get notified whenever I upload it make sure to hit that Bell icon so you get a notification whenever a video goes live and I wanted to quickly mention if you're looking for a tutorial to help you build a realistic city I definitely recommend $2 20s tutorial on that I'll link it in the description as well that's a really good guide on how to plan a see in a realistic way but regardless hopefully this tutorial did help you and just before we go follow me on Twitter and Instagram links are both in the description I post lots of screenshots of my own realistic cities there but yeah hopefully this tutorial helped and I will see you next time [Music] as you can see just combines with the other mods
