welcome to corporals corner today we're gonna make an improvised rocket stove so stick around last time we created this Scotch ID adapter for our auger bit and we tested it on a 2x4 and it worked out great so I thought why not take it to the field today and give it a field test and to do that we're gonna make an improvised rocket stove what I've done here is I found the stump I believe it's pine and it's extremely dry it's Deadspin here for a while and it's about go over a foot in length and it's about a foot across so that's the key you want to be dead and dry now all I did was got a branch for a t-handle carve it down a little bit and place it inside of my rail support and now I'm gonna do is my auger bit inside and locate approximately the center go ahead and get it started now keep in mind are doing this by hand so the heart of the wood a hard time you're gonna have [Applause] [Applause] get the holes drilled all I gotta do measure it I went ahead and I drilled it to about this point right here so tilting my log forward I know that if I start drilling about right here the horizontal hole should meet the vertical hole McGuinn let a piece of our fat would now theoretically the air should be drawn in through this hole right here and the heat should rise and come up the top so here's the side what I've done and took my knife carved the bevel around here and I found that it actually increases the airflow so my mistake was using the 1 inch drill bit next time I'll use an inch and a half or two inch and should be good to go and there's a top you see if flames crawled all the way up so it does work and like all these stoves the more you feed it the more flame you're gonna get the one downfall if you notice the holes there's got a lot larger here on the side as well as the top so obviously over course of an hour or so it's probably going to destroy itself and that's good to go because the larger the holes the more airflow you're gonna get so keep that in mind I used a one inch bit next time use an inch and a half maybe two inches outstanding welcome back for me I'd say this a pretty successful field test of the Scotch auger now keep in mind this tool can do a lot more anything from tapping trees campsite furniture and even rocket stoves and with this design there's no damage to your drill bit you can swap them out longer shorter extensions and even diameters take your comments view support thanks for watching the other woods have some fun I'll catch you next time [Music] [Music]
