hey y'all it's robert in today's video i'm going to show you how to decorate a basic confetti drip cake um pretty simple everything that i need actually here on the table so it's not that much um pretty easy design to do especially if you're just starting so let's get right into it so to start off i'm just adding a little bit of frosting to my cake board because this is basically a glue to make sure that that bottom cake sticks to the board then slide off all right so what i do is i use an ice cream scoop and this is three tablespoons so i do two so six tablespoons goes onto my cake this way i can kind of make sure that each layer has the same amount of frosting and it makes the cake more cohesive all right so i got that pretty smooth so at this point if you want to throw in any fillings any sprinkles any kind of ganache or anything like that you can do that now but i'm going to keep this one pretty simple and i'm just going to add the next layers and do the same thing all right so now that the last layer is on i'm now going to do a chrome coat so this is basically just adding a thin layer frosting that basically traps all the crumbs because they don't get in my final little frosting now that my crumb coat's added i'm just going to smooth it all out using my cake scraper and it's pretty simple just going to go around the cake and that's it and i'm just going to level off the top so using my offset spatula i'm just going to clean it off use my scraper and then i'm just going to go across the top and just smooth it out okay so now it's time for the final coat so i'm just going to add more buttercream on top of this and then smooth that out as well so now that the final coat is now on there i'm just going to take my cake scraper and with one turn i'm going to smooth it out as much as i can but it may take a couple of tries because i want to make sure that i get rid of the air bubbles all right so now that i have it basic oh my gosh i stepped in it oh please [Applause] [Music] i'm back all right so now that the sides are all smooth i'm now just going to take my offset spatula and i'm just going to start from the outside and i'm just going to pull in all across the cake until i get it as smooth as i can all right so now i'm going to add a sprinkle border around the bottom of the cake and i'm going to show you a really easy way to do it so i'm just going to take the sprinkles and instead of trying to apply them to the cake itself i'm just going to put them on the cake board then i'm going to use my spatula and push them in all right so the sprinkles are now on and the cake is almost done so i'm just going to chill this cake in the fridge for a few minutes and while that's happening i'm going to make the ganache all right so now i'm going to make the ganache that i use for the drip so what i have is a half cup of white chocolate chips and then this is a quarter cup of hot cream and i'm just going to add that in swirl it around and just let it sit for just a second and then i'm just going to start whisking it and it should combine and then i'm going to add the coloring after that all right so to color my ganache i'm actually using gel food coloring to do it and it won't take that much and i just want to turn this pink that was actually probably too much i'll find out all right so my ganache is now colored pink and i'm just going to transfer it to this bottle i like to do drip cakes using a bottle because i have more control over the drips all right so my cake is chilled now so now i'm just going to add the drip using the bottle and i'm just going to slowly do it see how far this first strip goes and if i wanted to go further i'll just add more pressure so now i'm just going to add more to the top to fill it in all right so the top is now completely covered with the ganache so now i'm just going to add a swirl so starting from the outside i'm just going to place my spatula and i'm just going to bring it in as i'm turning the turntable all right so now i'm just going to add frosting to the top of the cake using this open star tip and i'm just going to put that in my piping bag and then using this tall cup i'm going to add it to the bag and it makes it a lot easier so now i'm just going to add these giant silver sprinkles to the top and that would be the cake complete so this is the confetti drip cake completely decorated it's a pretty simple design and it's a really easy one to do especially if you're just starting off with cake decorating so i'll link all the supplies that i use in the description below and make sure you leave a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel if you haven't and i'll see you all in the next video so now i'm just going to all right if you can get this down pat on ah oh that's too much okay
