[Music] foreign [Music] hi everybody welcome back to in the kitchen with Gina Young I couldn't be more excited today I'm going to be showing you all how easy it is to make a delicious and I have to emphasize delicious tuna melt this tuna melt will melt your heart yes it will it's delicious it does not require a lot of ingredients it's not hard to make cost effective your whole family is going to love this here recipe I hope you all are having a great day today everybody anybody in the comment section below let me know have you ever tried a tuna melt if you haven't you're in for a treat we have chunk light tuna I have two cans of tuna we will be using some mayonnaise your choice of mayonnaise we're gonna use some spices so we can make it taste good garlic and onion powder black pepper and salt one stalk of celery and I may just use a half of that stock sweet Vidalia onion your favorite cheese but I highly suggest whatever type cheese you're going to use make sure it's creamy and dreamy and it melts good so my choice of cheese is yellow American cheese we have some hearty white bread any kind of bread that you love make sure your hands are nice and clean let's get started with this fun recipe jiny young style so now the first thing we need to do we need to make up some tuna let's chop a little bit of this sweet onion when you're making tuna make sure to drain your canned tuna as much as you can there will still be some oil or some liquid in the pan but drain out as much as you can that's the way you can get a beautiful delicious tuna that has a great consistency and it's not watery right so when I purchase my tuna I always like to purchase the kind that comes packed in the vegetable oil to me it just tastes better it has a more moist flavor and that's just my opinion versus the kind of tuna that is packed in the water the kind that's in the water to me I I feel like it's a bit dry right and we're not making any dry tuna here so I've drained off the oil and now what I want to do let's go ahead and cut to look look just that little bit of onion teeny tiny bit is all we're going to use if you're the person is not a fan of onions or you have someone in your family that doesn't like it just simply leave the onion out now what you're going to notice right now is when I cut this onion in this celery I really want to cut it up nice and fine nobody wants to bite down into a huge piece of onion or a huge piece of celery right don't use too much onion or too much celi celery we don't want to overwhelm the situation so now that I have that chopped let's go ahead and do the same with our celery I'm only going to use that little bit right there I hope you all are having a great day today let me know when's the last time you had a tuna melt or have you ever tasted it I tell you what my stomach is a rumbling already and my mouth is totally watering for this recipe it's lunchtime at the Young's house and my family won it tuna melts so here we are in the flesh we're making tuna melts I'm recording myself today but this is going to be a little different but I tell you what we're going to have the time of our lives making these tuna melts so now when I butter my bread you can use butter but what I'm going to be using I'm going to be using the mayonnaise today to butter my bread I feel like when I'm making a grilled sandwich it gives you a beautiful golden brown crispiness to your bread when you use mayonnaise now not the sweetened mayonnaise no it has to be a Savory mayonnaise okay it wouldn't mean when I say Savory mayonnaise is you don't want to use sweet mayonnaise to butter your bread with because the sugar in the sweet mayonnaise will create will cause your bread to get dark really quick because the sugars in that mayonnaise will caramelize and your bread will be too dark so now that I have that nice and chopped up really fine I have a beautiful clean Bowl here let's go ahead and get that onion and celery in there if you have a food processor and you don't want to take the time to cut it real small use a food processor to chop that onion and celery down nice and fine just like so next thing we're going to do when I come back we're going to get our tuna right into this bowl let's get our tuna right into our Bowl just like so get all that lovely goodness out what I like to do after I empty out my tuna can so that my trash cans don't smell I like to put this in some hot soapy water rinse it out and then I discard of it you don't want to just put this straight into the trash can and then your trash can smells horrible right and then it brings in those little gnats that we all hate right that's like the worst thing so anything that you can do to prevent the smells and your trash can is really going to help you in the long run all right gorgeous so now we're going ahead mix that onion and celery in just like so oh we if I was making a tuna salad to not go on to the um the tuna melt I'd be putting boiled eggs in this baby you bet I would I love a good tuna fish sandwich all right so now that we have those beautiful veggies nice and mixed in let's think about our mayonnaise now there is a such thing as dressing your salad too much what do you mean by that well I'm going to tell you dress on the salad too much could mean that you put too much mayonnaise into your salad and it's really watery so always what I like to tell people is start off with a little bit you can always add two okay if you start off with too much it's kind of hard to take away and then you're you know your salad will be too watery so we start off with a little bit we're going to give it a nice stir and if you're happy with the creaminess then you don't have to put any more in so I'm going to start off with about that much it looks like a small amount but let's mix it and see let's just mix it and see the consistency that we're wanting and clearly we can tell we need a little bit more just a little bit more don't get wild with it beautiful I couldn't be more excited for this recipe I'm pretty sure this is perfect look at that that's the creamy dreamy consistency that I'm looking for and it's not watered down look at that mmm but now we gotta give it some flavor give it some flavor so it tastes good and don't you be that person out there that's afraid to season your food shame on you don't be afraid to season season whatever you're making so that it tastes good black pepper onion and garlic powder is a must in tuna salad it really brightens it up and gives it such a great flavor like your whole family is not going to be able to stop eating it because it tastes so stinking good put some salt in all right and then what we get to do next what we get to do next is taste it taste it and see if you're happy with the flavor and if you're happy with the flavor we can move on so I have a spoon here we're gonna taste see how good it tastes I know it tastes good no worries because you're gonna get some too go ahead take a bite I'm going in um perfect every time let's get our bread nice and butter me and it tastes good let's take a look at it um there's going to be a lot of people that's going to say Gina will tell me this how come you didn't put any Relish in there well a lot of times I like to say 95 percent of the times when I make a tuna salad I don't put Relish in it and this tuna can stand up against the best of them it's delicious it's simple it's got by some of the best ingredients for flavor and it really does it really doesn't need the sweet relish it doesn't so the next time you go to make a tuna salad try it without the relish and let me know what you think now sometimes every once in a blue moon I'll turn around and put a pinch or two of sugar in my tuna salad and it really makes a difference I didn't do that today because when I tasted it it just has the perfect seasoning it doesn't need anything else so what we're going to do right now let's go ahead and take this time to get our bread nice and butter Okay and like I said I'm gonna use my mayonnaise to butter the bread so I can get a beautiful crispiness to our bread just like so in this manner if I haven't said I hope you all are having a great day today I hope you all are having a splendid day I feel like I've already said it but there's nothing wrong with saying it two times because I really do I hope you're having a great day all right we need a little bit more mayonnaise so our bread can be nice buttery and crispy when I come back we're going to assemble our sandwich make sure you use your favorite cheese but make sure that cheese nice creamy and melty because there are some cheeses that just doesn't melt really good right go ahead now's the perfect time to heat up your skillet put it right there just like so don't have the heat up too high okay having the heat up too high will really disturb you're a sandwich your sandwich is going to be charred and that's not what we're looking for I like to put the cheese on and I definitely am going to put two pieces of cheese now you can put cheese on the bottom and the top piece of bread if you want it to but I really don't want to overwhelm it with cheese I want to be able to taste that gorgeous tuna I want the tuna flavor to shine through and two pieces of cheese is enough right all right there we go I'm cooking this on a medium to medium high heat not up too high like I said you can really burn this quickly put as much or as least tuna that you would like to put onto your sandwich how easy does this recipe come together I tell you what I just have to say here at the Young's house when we don't feel like cooking or we may have a busy day this is our go-to this is our go-to we had a busy day today everyone asks for tuna melts and here we are making them look oh I couldn't be more excited and I hope you're excited as well like I said if you want to put cheese on top of there go ahead have fun beautiful when I come back we're gonna flip those babies over no worry about when it's time to flip it because you'll literally begin to see a golden brown ring towards the bottom that will be your indication that it's time to flip that baby over it smells so good there's nothing like a grilled sandwich cooking in your kitchen my goodness look at this be careful okay I like to hold this and it helps me to assist it look it it's okay if you can't see you can see now look at that I I live for that color and that's what the mayonnaise will do absolutely it will the mayonnaise will give you such a beautiful color that you're going to love and now when you make a grilled cheese or you know some type of grilled sandwich you're going to love to use the mayonnaise versus the butter to get that golden brown crispy get in my belly yes our sandwiches are done they're nice beautiful golden brown on the underneath side we want to wait at least two to three minutes before we slice down into it because if we slice into it right now your cheese is just gonna come oozing out right we do want that ooze but at least give it a few minutes give it a few minutes cut down into it let's go ahead and say a prayer and after this prayer you get that first bite heavenly father thank you for this beautiful meal thank you for your mercy your love time and your understanding thank you Lord for the roof over our head in Jesus Christ's name we pray amen let's cut into it the wait is over oh crispy soft and supple on the inside you know your tuna tastes delicious this right here is going to rock your world oh taste bud overload oh my goodness that's what I like to call Tuna Melt Gina Young style make you some if you enjoyed this video give me a thumbs up if you haven't subscribed make sure you
