hi everybody i'm rachel from rachel cooks with love in today's video i'm gonna show you how to transform those cans of tuna that are staring at you in the face every single time you open that pantry door and i'm gonna turn them into a delicious meal that is easy quick and super delicious let's get started so i'm going to start out by making my tuna mixture now in this bowl i've got 18 ounces of white albacore tuna and it was packed in water now you can use either three small cans or a big can any combination that you want so this is what i'm going to use now i've got my chopped celery i'm gonna go ahead and put my celery in here now i have everything chopped because it's so much easier that way and it makes cooking fun and i've got my chopped red onions there we go now i'm going to put in my mail now i like to use real mayonnaise not miracle whip but you can use whatever you like i've got some sweet pickle relish and the sweet pickle relish is just going to sweeten up that tuna a little bit sometimes a tuna has a strong taste and the sweet pickle relish just kind of neutralizes that beautifully i've got my freshly chopped parsley just like that some onion powder i've got some dijon mustard i'm gonna put in some pepper you can use as much pepper as you want my brown and i really like pepper in here i'm gonna put in some salt like that and then i'm gonna mix it up together see and these big chunks of tuna will break up as you mix it in together now if you don't want to use a sweet pickle relish you can use the dill relish and it'll make it zestier i like the sweet pickle relish but the dill relish is very good too so i'm just going to bring it all in together like this and break up those big chunks of tuna okay now that we've got it all mixed in now we're ready to put our tuna melts together so this is the bread that i'm gonna be using now this one says italian round loaf and it's cut in half that's why you get them in this shape i like this bread because it's got some good body to it and it comes from the smallest slice and then a little bigger and then a little bigger and it gets to the bigger slice so i went ahead and took out the big slices and i got them all together here because these are the ones i'm going to use now you can use any kind of bread that you like but i like to use this because it's firm and it doesn't break apart and it won't get wet on you so you want to look for some nice firm bread so i'm going to go ahead and put my four slices right here and i've got my oven set on broil and i'm gonna put them into the oven about five inches away from the top because you know that the broil gets hot on top not on the bottom so i'm gonna put them in and the heat's gonna be about right here just for about a minute or a minute and a half so that these can get real nice and warm and a little toasty keep an eye on them because you don't want to burn them after about a minute or a minute and a half i will flip them over to the other side and do the same thing it was about one minute now i'm flipping them over you see how they got just a little bit golden brown that's all you want and i'm going to put them back in for another minute so here they are nice and toasty now i'm ready to put my tuna mixture on them so i'm going to go ahead and spoon my mixture right here on top like this so you want to put enough of it but you don't want to overdo it because then it'll get to you you know too much of it just like this and i like to even it out with a knife like this you see and just take it a little bit to the edge and i'm going to do the same thing to all of them like this and here's my last one and you know what look at how much we have left over just very little so it's just like the perfect amount for four just like that now i've got some pepper flakes now these are optional but my ron and i both love pepper flakes up here it just gives it a nice little kick you can put as much as you want just like that and i put a little bit on all four if you want you can just use regular pepper i've even done little thin slices of jalapeno and oh my gosh those were so good too but we like the pepper flakes so that's what i'm using today now i've got some slices of tomato right here now i'm going to put two slices of tomato on each one just like that see this like that and here i've got some grated cheddar cheese and it's the mild cheddar but you can use any kind of cheese that you want just put some on top like this just like that i'll do this one now this is something that i love to fix on days like today when i worked out in the yard all morning and then i come in and i'm like you know what can i fix today something that's quick and delicious and this is what i go for my ron loves them and this is perfect like this now the broiler is still on and i want to put them in just quickly just until that cheese will melt that's all you want for your cheese to melt oh look at this see hmm now we like to have them with chips but you can have them with anything you want on the side okay and i'm gonna get me a pickle spear that see so how are we gonna eat this tuna melt i like to cut it in half this just like that now this was a can of tuna look at this love that taste test oh my god beautiful and delicious these are my tuna melts if you like my video give me a thumbs up send me a comment and tell me what you think you're gonna love these thank you um
