so in this video I'm going to do some  live coaching on how to improve your   steep skiing I've got leel and Martin with us  and you might have seen them in a few videos   and um the first thing I did was actually  to warm up on some drills so we did some   side slipping diagonal side slipping and  then finding the edges and then I got on   to videoing on a very steep pitch of pretty  much around 38 39° on a steep icy black and   then from that analyzed it to then break  down the points so watch this video to the [Music] [Applause] [Music] end [Music] let's um we're going to look at the  first one so bear hug down down so rotation   will separate you're separating yeah and then  just feeling a bit of a pinch to make sure   I'm getting some Ang yeah so your left turn um  yeah you're not separating as much so it means   that literally it takes longer for you to get  into the next turn and you haven't got as much   control at the end of the turn so we're just and  I do find I tend to get a bit stuck after that   left hand turn so maybe that's why so I think  even everything out okay cool go for it all [Applause] right that was so much  better that time which is really   good isn't it really good for rhythm  and upper body separation so let's do   that again tight Corridor yeah and feel  that Rhythm turn turn turn turn off we go have the poles back and try and  keep that feeling you know the upper   body separated I reckon um and then also that  Rhythm you turn turn turn turn turn turn yeah   great so we have a little bit warm on the  Steep and then we're going to rev video y perfect so this one that was working well so  as soon as you finish the pole plant go into   the next one that's better but also think about  if we're um P doing the turn on the Steeps here   okay just try and get off the skis a little bit  earlier to then go into the next one okay more   of that on the on the Steep yeah just to release  a little bit more down earlier so you don't want   to go across heavy Edge slip and do nothing with  a heavy Edge okay you just want to come down try   and release a little bit earlier yeah with a pole  plump okay cool cool give it a [Music] [Applause] go so now we're back onto our pitch it's  pretty icy okay okay we're going to go   for the second video and those points that  we're going to try and work on we're going   to put on to this and film it so Mar you're  going to be working on that separation yeah   really like focus on that and then Leal pole  plant and just releasing a little bit earlier okay that was so much better wasn't it yeah  yeah so defin watch out someone's falling   out here definitely better the upper body  is so much Stiller yeah your are always   facing either that way or that way they never  this way yeah I Tred and release earlier yeah   I really yeah yeah so the top lost the  Rhythm yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah so you   forgot to pull prant and I think then the  Rhythm lost and then you gained it back   and the shoulders on the should improved from  halfway down definitely further down which is good first 10's really important like not to go  you've just got to go for it like not to go too   far across and have your skis more pointing  down the hill yeah is like super valuable I   think I need to accept a little bit more speed  at the start of those runs because even there the   steeper ones halfway down it's not particularly  steep but I was already washing off a lot lot   of speed like my first turn then basically stop  to go into the second one so then I stopped and   just thought okay I'm just going to accept the  speed a little bit and it felt a bit more bit   more fluid for sure rhythm is really important  keeping going but yeah you don't want to do too   much of a head heavy Edge check yeah scrape that  speed off and then stop cuz you're affecting the   flow and it's actually is the flow and the  Rhythm down the on the Steeps that you really   want to yeah right so we're going to go into that  bear hug again so Martin yeah left left hand over   the right shoulder right over the left keep the  upper body facing down the hill okay which is   super important but really f with your feet so  make sure with your feet you know you're really   active and you turn turn turn turn turn turn  turn turn okay not just turn turn turn give it a go if you like this video don't forget  to press that like and leave me a comment you can graduate you can have your poles  back you really like the pinched yeah I thought   it got me in a good position to then have more  cuz I guess you get to muscle memory doing the   wrong thing I just need to wasit yeah yeah it's  just separate yeah so you can get into the turn   quicker and also transition easier if you like  this video you'll also like the video put the link   below of how to gain your confidence on steeper  terrain so we're back on the pitch third time   team yeah Le are really liked the Improvement  on your last video which is awesome okay just   the start we need to really start well um so what  I'd like you to do is do at least three or four   turns stop reset start again stop reset start  again just to practice the first couple of atts okay yes that was a awesome that was so much  better said I was going to only use half just   to visualize the tunnel that I'm going through  yeah so a tight tighter Corridor but the starts   were so much better wow I'm really pleased  with that boom second video was still really   good okay it's just the top bit where you lost  the Rhythm so I want you as soon as you finish   off the turn really get into the next turn  okay turn turn turn with that pinch and the   for body separated boom Martin again that was  better wasn't it yeah yeah I definitely felt   that pinch got me a better angle the only thing I  happened is actually I got a lot of jutter at the   top which kind of put me much more stable and  and confident yeah yeah definitely and then I   reset in the middle try to start again with a bit  yeah so that's a really good thing to do so if you   do lose out of control it's really good just to  stop and reset otherwise you're just reproducing   and going over the same muscle memory so it's  good to stop reset start again and get into   that Rhythm so now what we're going to do is put  those new skills onto some off piece on steeper terrain thanks for watching  see you in the next one
