How to Have Hope When It's Hard - Wednesday Morning Service

[Music] thank you Lord oh bless your name Lord oh Hallelujah thank you Lord God we lift up our hands in your presence thanking you for who you are God you're our father that we enter in with expectation right now thank you Father for all that you made available for us from the foundations of the world we receive it by faith we thank you for all that you've made available for us right now so we come and we come believing and having faith in the blood the faith that gives us the victory the faith that gives us the right to have answers to our prayers the faith that causes us to be right in your sight that faith that enables us to be born again and so we enter in right now by faith in what the blood has accomplished We Believe for that blood that heals and so father anyone that's in pain right now anybody in any discomfort right now Lord we just declare that you are the great comforter and father we know and we trust in your word that you relieve and you comfort even in the midst of sorrow and you comfort in the midst of grief you comfort in the midst of pain so we thank you right now in Jesus name so we lift up all those who are watching Lord we lift up those who are here thank you for this Vision we declare that it is a Heavenly assignment and it will come to pass and we add our faith together we pray for those who have authority over us we pray for our president his administration his cabinet we lift up every appointed official and so Lord we ask that you come and your kingdom come your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven no weapon formed against us will prosper and so father we just thank you right now that greater is he that is on the inside of us than he that is in the world so it is by faith that we have the victory that you cause us to Triumph in all things and it's in Jesus name we pray and all that agree said amen amen God bless you let's put our hands together and let's thank the Lord amen you may take your seed and so thankful for those who are here this morning and came out to just have an encounter with the word and encounter with the Lord I believe that is so vital for us to continuously stay full and to carve out time where we deposit God's power in our lives on a day-to-day basis and that's the reason why we make the time to you know do the confessions we make the time to be at service on the weekends and just daily depositing the word of God on the inside of us so I won't be very long this morning hopefully but I do stress the need of us making sure that we're staying in the Overflow staying in the Overflow that's what this is about this morning Bible study of course we'll have another dose tonight and uh it's just going to be a great time where we can begin to see the things that God wants us to experience in these last days so this morning I want to talk about hope when it's hard hope when it's hard we're going to look at David's life we're going to look at challenges that he was able to overcome and how he was able to overcome them you know as a result of Us coming out of this pandemic is so important for us to know what we're supposed to be doing you know we are living in a new normal we're living in a new uh dispensation that we've never experienced before the things that are taking place and so we've got to begin to know how to navigate we've got to know how to move how to make progress and I believe that there's a way to do it but we have to begin to learn from those under the old Covenant under the Old Testament as the Bible says and as a result of us learning from them that we can know how to appropriate it in our lives and so that's what the purpose of looking back at some of the Patriarchs and matriarchs from times past because we can look at how they were able to move forward how they were able to deal with opposition how they were able to experience victory in spite of the challenges that they dealt with and so we know that there's so much hopelessness in the world today there's uh so many things that could cause us to be in a place of negativity a place of Despair depression as a result of the pandemic so many people have gone on to be with the Lord and so many things are different so many things have changed but you know what thank God for him being the same yesterday today and forever so he is that constant presence in our lives he is that consistent force that enables us to be able to trust in him because he has not changed although the world has changed and things are changing maybe some of your worlds have changed maybe you had loved ones maybe you had things that were lost as a result of the pandemic businesses were lost some people lost relationships out of marriages ended in divorce and so there are a lot of things if we're cognizant of that have changed and so we want to look at how to have hope when it's hard how to have hope win is hard now let's look in first Samuel chapter 17 and we're going to look at David when he face a hard situation because I believe that many of you are dealing with difficult situations things that you don't quite know how to move forward in but thank God that he provides us with answers he gives us Solutions he then leave us stranded he doesn't leave us in a place where we're worse off than where we were before he enables us to get into a place where we can have strength to move forward and that's what this moment is about that is what this season is about knowing how to move forward when it's difficult when it's hard when you've been in a place for so long then all of a sudden the rug just got snatched out from up under you and you say God what is this and then begin to allow him to speak into our lives so that's what David was dealing with because David was a man who had a lot of experiences prior to facing Goliath and so you know Goliath was a big giant he was a big guy and so many times in our lives when we're dealing with things these are things that seem bigger than life because they're unfamiliar things that were unaccustomed to perhaps you know it may be a new thing or perhaps it may have been something that's kind of lingered from generation to generation I mean you know the devil will begin to visit generations to Generations to cause that same thing to exist and to be perpetual and so in first Samuel chapter 17 we're going to look at this story here of David and Goliath one that I know you probably are familiar with and have heard about in times past Sunday school one of those Bible lessons where he faced the Giant and we're going to face some Giants in our life if we're not already facing them right now and so verse 12 of first Samuel chapter 17. I'm going to read from the New Living Translation if you want to read along with me because David had to make the decision based on what was going on with Saul's advice on whether he was going to do what Saul wanted him to do or what he was going to do based on what was in his heart and so there were many who were afraid of Goliath his older brothers the armies they were intimidated the Bible talks about how Goliath was strut around and as a result of him strutting around that it would put fear in the Army and fear in people who saw him and so you know there is that opportunity to either receive fear and shrink back like so many had done in David's scenario or to begin to do what David did so he says in verse 12 now David was the son of a man named Jesse and effort fight from Bethlehem in the land of Judah Jesse was an old man at that time and he had how many sons eight Sons Jesse's three oldest sons iliab abinabab and shamia had already joined Saul's Army to fight the Philistines some say Philistines some say the Philistines but today we're just going to say Philistines David was the youngest son David's three older brothers stayed with Saul's Army but David went back and forth so he could help his father with the sheep in Bethlehem for 40 days every morning and evening the Philistine champion strutted in front of the Israelite Army how many you know that is the devil and that's what the devil will do will cause you to try to fixate on him and on his plan sickness maybe to cause that sickness to just be right in front of you and strutting back and forth or you know maybe a broken relationship a strange situation the enemy wants to hold that up to cause it to be magnified in our hearts to be magnified in our lives to cause us to become hopeless and to become obsessed with that very thing and so that's what goliath was doing when he was strutting back and forth I mean you know he was trying to get their attention and the enemy wants your attention this morning he wants you to think that there is no hope he wants you to throw in the towel and he wants you to begin to think that there is no way that you can come out of that situation so it says for 40 days twice a day morning and evening the Philistine Giant strutted in front of the Israelite Army so you've got to realize that there's an enemy loose and he wants to cause you to think inferior thoughts and to think that you are inadequate and that God's word cannot work and there is no way that anybody can come out of this situation none of your relatives have been able to come out of this situation nobody else that you know of and so as a result he did this for 40 days not just one day in the morning I'm telling you morning and evening you hear me I mean you know there's a strategy that the enemy was trying to do at that time and so it says here in verse 17 and one day Jesse said to David take this basket of roasted grain and these 10 loaves of red to your brothers and give these 10 cuts of cheese to their Captain see how your brothers are getting along and bring me back a letter from them David's brothers were with Saul the Israelite Army at the valley of Ella uh fighting against the Philistines so David left the sheep with another Shepherd and set out early the next morning he arrived at the outskirts of the camp just as the Israelite Army was leaving for the battlefield with shouts and battle cries let's skip down to well we'll just keep going soon the Israelite and the Philistine forces stood facing each other Army against Army David verse 22 left his things with the keeper of the supplies and hurried out to the ranks to greet his brothers and as he was talking with them he saw Goliath the champion from gath come out from the Philistine racks shouting his challenge to the army of Israel so not only was Goliath walking around strutting around morning and evening for 40 days he was also shouting at them he was shouting at the army of Israel and verse 24 says and as soon as the Israelite Army saw him they began to run away in Fright and that's exactly what the enemy wants us to do is to run and hide in fear and that's what they did it says as soon as they saw the Giant they began to run away why because he was so big Goliath is believed to be around nine feet tall ah his helmet alone was like over a hundred feet I mean just humongous in terms of the comparison between he and the Israelite Army and so when they saw him just in the physical they began to think about how impossible it seemed that they could stand up against this enemy that they could stand up against this giant but you know what David had something else in his mind when he saw Goliath and uh it says in verse 25 have you seen the giant the men were asking he comes out each day to challenge Israel and have you heard about the huge reward the King has offered to anyone who kills him the king will give him one of his daughters for a wife and his whole family will be Exempted from paying taxes David in verse 26 talk to some others standing there to verify the report what will a man get for killing this Philistine and putting an end to his abuse of Israel so when you begin to face your challenges and your hardships and difficult situations in your life you've got to begin to think about bringing an end to that thing because you know what if you don't bring an end to it it'll just continue on and on and on it'll maybe go to your next generation or it'll begin to cause an outbreak or it'll be worse than what it was and so David had on his mind how I can end this thing and uh he says what will a man get and he says in putting an end to his abuse of Israel who was this Pagan Philistine anyway that he is allowed to defy the armies of the Living God David had the Covenant on his mind he says who is this he's not in Covenant he doesn't know God and so it says David received the same reply as before what you've been hearing is true that is the reward for killing the Giant but when David's oldest brother Iliad heard David talking to the men he was angry he says what are you doing around here anyway they saw him as the little Annoying Brother eliab David what are you doing here why are you here what about those few sheep you're supposed to be taking care of I know about your pride and dishonesty you just want to see the battle David says in verse 29 what have I done now David reply I was only asking a question he walked over to some of the others and asked them the same thing and received the same answer then David's question was reported to King Saul and the King sent for him look here in verse 32 it says uh don't worry about a thing David told Saul I'll go fight this Felicity think about that all the older Brothers the eldest ones the most experienced the ones who were trained the ones who had the knowledge the equipment the weapons to use the artillery uh just all the things that have been prepared but it was David who chose to deal with the Giant and so there are things in these last days that God's going to choose you to deal with that perhaps other people ran and hid from thank God for his wisdom thank God for his grace thank God for his anointing thank God for his power because I'm telling you we're coming into a time where it's going to require the supernatural assistance in the Supernatural Aid God's intervening and beginning to show uh to Covenant people his ability in the situations in life and so it was David who made up in his mind when he told Saul he says I'll go I will go he didn't run he wasn't afraid he says I'll go and then look at verse 33 he says don't be ridiculous Saul reply there is no way you can go against this Philistine David he thought that David was ridiculous but you know what David had experience God's victory in his private battles so it gave him confidence in his public battles so that's why it's so much more than just you know playing church and doing Church this is about going home being at home where you know how to win and you know what to do in your personal battles because people will try and talk you out of standing against opposition because they've not stood against opposition they don't want you to stand either as far as they know it's never been done that's just how it is that's just what happened but honey you know God has the final say so Factor God in the situations in your life welcome him in invite him in allow him in and let him intervene and not base the decisions in our life based on what someone else said because they thought that what he chose to do was ridiculous when he said I'll go David you don't know what you're doing you've been out there uh you're just here to be nosy you're here to just watch you're not knowing uh anything about what it takes and he says I'll go and he says uh there is no way you can go against this Philistine you are only a boy and he has been in the Army since he was a boy even his youth was being addressed and attacked there because of his age and people will base and surmise your ability and your victory uh on the age and I mean you know God's not looking at any of those things God called a king who was 10 years old I better not get into that God will use a donkey God will use a jackass God will use whatever he wants to use he's not limited by age it says in verse 34 but David persisted I have been taught I've been taking care of my brother of my father's sheep he says I've been taking care of my father's sheep he was a Shepherd boy when a lion or bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock I go after it I mean he wasn't afraid to go after a bear or to go after a lion that's something that speaks volumes right there because they knew they weren't willing to go after a lion or a bear and deal with those situations but David was and so he says when a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock I go after it with a club and take the lamb from his mouth if the animal turns on me I catch it by the jaw and Club it to death so as far as he was concerned this nine foot overgrown individual does not intimidate me because you know what if I can deal with the bear and I can deal with a lion I'm good he says I've done this to both lions and bears and I'll do it to this pagan for listening to for he has defied the armies of the Living God the Lord who saved me from the claws my goodness in his private time he had a revelation he had a flashback of what God did for him out in the shepherd and in the field he thought about that he says uh the Lord who saved me from the claws of the Lion and save me from the bear he'll save me from this philistine David saw a victory in his private life he began to get before God and spend time with God and know his Covenant with God he reminded himself of what God had done and then as a result it caused him to have courage to face the hardship to face the difficult giant to face what seemed to be intimidating and so he says he'll save me he'll save me you got to make up in your mind God Will Save Me God will deliver me God will heal me God will protect me God will do what he says he says he'll save me from this and Saul finally consented all right go ahead he said and may the Lord be with you he realized it wasn't too much that was going to change David's mind so he said you just all right I give in then Saul gave David his own armor a bronze helmet and a coat a male David put it on strapped the sword over it took a step or two to see what it was like for he had never worn such a thing before look at what David says I can't go in these foreign he protested I'm not used to them so he took them off again I mean you know sometimes in life people will try to talk you into doing what is in their heart Saul was trying to talk David into wearing his armor obviously it wasn't working for Saul because Saul wasn't out there fighting the enemy but yet he wanted David to put it on and what sense does that make if it's not working for you what makes you think it's going to work for me if it hasn't given you victory I don't want it I need something that's going to work something that's been tried something that is true something that has a promise and so there was no victory in their lives and that's why you can't take advice from everybody trying to live off of somebody else's revelation someone else's fear because you know what we can pass down our fears so you got to ask yourself this morning what am I passing down when all is said and done when the book is closed what am I imparting what am I going to create as a legacy as a lineage because if we're not like David they were those who were passing off intimidated and as a result they lived their lives in fear live their lives in inferiority they felt inferior to the giant they felt inferior to the hard time they felt like they couldn't measure up that they were falling short they felt inadequate and so his older brother said David what are you doing here you don't belong here you're just a boy but he was more than that he was one who had the Covenant on his mind and he wanted to begin to see the reward he probably had that daughter that young girl on his mind too she probably was pretty and said oh okay I get her all right let's see how we can figure this thing out okay and so he was motivated he was ready sometimes people can mean well by you know telling you and informing you of what hasn't happened and you know in a war you should wear this kind of artillery this protects this and this protects that so you know arm yourself in this kind of way so they could have had good intentions by telling him and saw giving him all those things but David knew that that was it for him that wasn't what he needed he knew what he needed in the midst of the hard time he knew what was necessary in order to win and so we have to become secure in the Lord and we have to hear from him in the midst of hard times you've got to hear from God I remember when I went to Johannesburg about 10 years ago and I was wrestling with whether I should go or whether I should stay I was talking to um Kyla my assistant at the time I said Kyla I really think that I am supposed to go I think I'm supposed to be at this meeting I think that I'm supposed to be there she said you should go and I was wrestling because there were those voices that said don't go you got enough too expensive too far get the take get the DVD just don't make it such a big deal but in my nowhere I felt like I needed to go and so many times in your life you've got to be secure in what God is speaking you've got to spend time with him so you know what to do in the hard time you've got to know his voice he wants you as his child to hear his voice to know it's him of course I hear from right in here my mid area and it was just all over my being and I just couldn't shake it off the next day I said well let me just go to bed I'll sleep on it woke up the next day I kept feeling that same impression God doesn't speak to me and necessarily an audible voice per se but it's right here in my innermost being that I hear God in my spirit I guess and so you know My Life as a result was turned upside down my life was changed I was in a hard place difficult place Cross Road but I knew what God Said to do and so you have to know and to become secure in the Lord and here from him and not let other people talk you out say Amen somebody follow God and do what he said because you know what that's where your strength lies David's strength wasn't in the armor or the sword it was entrusting God when Goliath saw David walk around him with just a slingshot he laughed at him but David knew something look at what it says here David says I cannot go in these he protested he said no I'm not used to them so he took them off again you know what David did he picked up five smooth stones from a stream and put them in his Shepherd's bag five smooth Stones Some say the number of five means Grace that Grace if that was I'm telling you I mean no Grace got all no stones now when I looked into this technically you know you can uh use a sling by um harming someone it is a a weapon in many instances because I thought it was just you know like the little play thing but no this has the potential to do damage so it says he picked up now I don't know if it was the uh you know the fact that God just got on David or God got on the smooth Stones I don't know what happened all I know is that the giant went down okay I don't know how God does what he does he is God he does what he wants to do he just needs someone to trust them and to be led by him and to do what he says to do and to move forward not to be stuck and intimidated by the hard times and by the Giants in our life he says this sickness is not unto death how many you know you're going to live and not die if he says you're not going to be broke another day in your life how many know you ready to prosper you're going in we're not living to pay paycheck to paycheck anymore we're not doing that anymore and so it was those five smooth Stones glory be to God not rough stones but smooth stones from a stream maybe the anointing got on the stream and then as a result when David pulled them out I don't know he put them in his Shepherd's bag and then armed only with his Shepherd's staff that's all he had and slain he started a cross to fight Goliath my goodness my goodness how many you know it's on right now let me give you some keys to defeat the Giants in your life number one show up for the battle ready to fight that's what David did he showed up he didn't stay home in the bed and say well you know I'm tired today children I'm not going I'm you know I y'all figure it out he showed up for some of us part of the victory is just showing up when I lost my mom I had to make up in my mind I'm getting out of this bed I got to show up I got to do something different I gotta fight this grief I gotta fight this sorrow I gotta fight this depression I gotta resist I gotta change my postures change my position nothing is going to change staff if you stay in this bed you got to show up I had to turn off the sad songs you know I'm climbing up the Rough Side of the Mountain trying to make Heaven my home I had to turn all that off nobody's coming to your pity party Taffy no one is accepting your invitation you're going to have to figure this out had to talk to myself you got to talk to yourself so that you can do what needs to be done to show up God what do I need to do you have a plethora of answers their Myriad of Solutions in your presence there are answers that are waiting in the presence of the Lord and for David it was to show up to be there when his father said David take this down to your brothers go check on them bring me back a report David could have said no I'm not going you don't tell me what to do but you know what he went he showed up for the battle ready to fight so this is the first point that I want us to make note of as we bring this to a close show up for the battle ready to fight you don't always get to pick the place or the time you say Lord I didn't bring on this this ain't even my situation I ain't even have anything to do with this this just came into my life what is all what meaneth this what is this about God says this this is it this is about me I'm going to give you the victory this battle belongs to me not you but we have to be ready and be willing and to take heed to what God is leading us to do and so we have to take the fight to the enemy look at that take the fight to the enemy talking to a friend of mine the other day we were at an event and uh she unfortunately as a result of some things that she's been working on her spouse decided that he didn't want to be married anymore and wanted to leave the marriage so I was talking with her and prayed and just broke my heart to hear the news and I said you know you've got to immerse yourself in the word of God you've got to make a decision on what you're going to do you've got to decide that this is a fight and you got to decide how you're going to show up in this fight David made up in his mind that he didn't just defeat The Lion and the Bear he made up in his mind that he was going to go after them and he went not only did he fight them but he stole took back what they were trying to steal and so many times in our life it's the enemy's plan to try to take back what God has already given us you have to make up in your mind how am I going to respond The Audacity Of This devil the nerve the unmitigated gall of this demon to show up in my life Generations have prayed the cloud of witnesses have prayed the armies of Heaven how am I going to respond what will I do so we have to make up in our mind that we have to take back what the enemy has tried to steal from us look at what it says in Proverbs chapter 6 verse 31. let's put that one up there Proverbs 6 verse 31 says but if he is caught he's talking about the enemy if he is caught because he's a sneaky little thing he'll make you think you fighting somebody and oh it's them and you know fighting against flesh and blood and this this person this this person and it is not our fight get in strife and contention with people and to you know focus in on people it's that Spirit behind that the enemy uses the cause friction and havoc in life but he says if but if if if if he is caught you got to shine the light on the devil because he wants to hide behind you know Generations well it's always been this way you know this just runs in your family so just get with it no I got a promise and that curse is broken because of the blood of Jesus Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law being made a curse for us I catch you not going out like that he says but if he's caught he must pay he must pay back seven times what he stole and that was Davis mindset he said oh no you know even when the Lions come out here and the bears come out here and they try to steal my stuff when I'm out here in the field oh no I take back what belongs to me I'm not I'm not just sitting back and saying well you know I I I I I hope I'll get another one or maybe you know uh that was God's plan no that was God's will no that wasn't God's will he says even if he has to sell everything in his house think of that but if he be found one translation says he shall restore Seven Fold and he shall give all the substance of his house and I'm telling you the enemy will try to do everything that he can just like he tried to talk me out of going to be where I knew I needed to be to get the Revelation that I needed to have in my life to break chains to get rid of generational curses and all these things you've got to shine the light and that as a result you'll begin to walk in the blessing and you'll receive payback you'll receive restitution restoration you'll receive wholeness you'll receive Deliverance you receive healing you'll receive everything everything that God said was yours so in closing I'm going to close with this point right here and make a note you'll never win a battle that you don't show up for amen somebody sometimes like I said it's just making a decision oh devil no you didn't we are going to resist we're not going to accept this because this is not what God's word says this is not what his plan says for my life so we have to make up in our mind that we're going to show up so Lord we just thank you thank you so much for our time together thank you that your people have heard your word I pray that it has fallen upon good ground I pray that it will cause uh conception that there will be that which you will cause to multiply and to bring forth a harvest in the lives of these your precious people so Lord help us to be mindful of what to do in hard times and to find strength to find hope to find joy to find uh confidence to find encouragement to find what we need is necessary so that we can experience victory and Satan we remind you any Giants that are in our life any diagnoses any bad reports we cancel it and render it void and ineffective right now in the name of Jesus you have no Authority in our bodies and our homes and our finances and our relationships we send the alert right now you are defeated and under our feet we arrest you we resist your Authority we renounce it right now because we have faith in what the blood has accomplished so we thank you that Grace has made and we take it by faith right now and so I just thank you that the word right now has fallen upon ground and it will bring forth a harvest in Jesus mighty name and all that agree set amen amen hallelujah glory be to God thank you Lord what a wonderful time to be a part of the kingdom of God and to be on the cusp of the greatest manifestation of his power and his presence to be an usher in the souls and the Harvest of Souls and to be a part of the things that are going to take place even this transfer that's been prophesied of wealth and um billions of souls that are going to come into the kingdom of God just all the things how many you know the sickle get the sickle in your hands so you can begin to receive take that Harvest take back what belongs to you don't settle for less don't let anybody talk you out don't believe that it isn't God's best for you to walk in his plan and so we want to give the opportunity to sow and we want to give you the opportunity if you not made Jesus the Lord of your life be sure to do just that you want to be saved you want to be born again you want to be a part of the family of God these things that we talked about this morning begin we would make a decision to become born again and be a part of God's family when we acknowledge our need for a savior we cannot do this on our own with our natural ability our natural strength but it is by us inviting Jesus into our life that he causes us to live from above and to be born from above so say this with me Heavenly Father I received Jesus into my life come into my life Lord Jesus I receive you and I renounce all sin thank you for being so we acknowledge the source we acknowledge that he is our source in the midst of the battle in the midst of the hard times Lord you will bring me out of this thing and I sow towards it right now glory be to God thank you for the Breakthrough you are the lord of the Breakthrough I'm telling you I have sown four things that I was believing God for didn't know how it was going to happen but I put faith and what God is leading to do at the time so just let the Lord lead you on what to sow you can text World Changers plus the amount to seven four four eight three you can call the number we are more more than conquerors and when we show up it's not just us showing up as you showing up with us and we know that because of that we have everything that we need so we thank you Father for the angels of God that will continue to encamp themselves about us as we leave and we thank you Father that they'll prepare the way before us we release the favor of God to go before us as a shield
