[Music] [Music] [Music] he [Music] the first thing that we're going to be doing is we're going to be blocking out the whole car and we're going to be using just a simple block okay and we're going to be using 2,000 grit we're not going too aggressive this is Maguire's paper um and it's very very good good paper it lasts a while now you don't need to do it by hand you can go to da but if you really want your paint work to look good this is going to help to level and block out the paint for the very very last time now you cannot buff a scratch that is done by hand so from there you're going to get yourself your da now this is all Air power this is a DA with a soft interface pad and we'll be using the 2000 grit okay and the 2000 grit by um VA is going to soften up that 2,000 grit scratch that we had with the uh with the hand block okay so first by hand and then Always by da now a 2,000 grit scratch is hard to polish so what you're going to do when you're all done we'll take the 3000 grit triac which is a very very high quality paper you can see it's almost like a sponge and it last a very long time we'll use this with our water and when we use this with our water it's going to really help the paper last a long time and it's going to smooth and give that paint the the sheen it needs and it's going to refine and scratch just enough the polish it love it or hate it sanding a car down and polishing it is going to make it look better than any factory paint job if you want to show car quality finish or you just want to get rid of the dirt and defects in your paint job maybe you spray at home this short and effective guide is going to show you exactly what you need to do so the first thing you need to do is start with a 2,000 grit now a lot of people might tell you you need to go down to 1,000 or 15 I think you're removing too much material at that point so if a 20 grit using this Maguire's paper it's going to level off Orange Peel dirt debris anything that might have got stuck in a clear coat while you were spraying paint job after that you can see it's going to leave it not completely smooth kind of streaky so once it's done with that you're going to want to go over it with the 2000 on the da sander the sander you need to use because it's going to leave a softer scratch now I'm going to link in the description the buffle eagle abrasives paper the 2000 grit I feel like it's a a little bit better than this 3M paper and that is what I want you to use with this 3M pad next up we're going to step it up to the 3,000 and you must use this with water and this is going to take the 2,000 a bit further refine it and make it easier to buff guys if your spot sanding and polishing you don't really need to do the 3,000 but when you're doing a whole vehicle it's going to make a huge difference they even have 8,000 grit that makes it even easier not totally necessary but with a 3,000 grit you do need to take this extra step now it's always best to completely sand down the whole vehicle and then do the polishing process here we're going ahead on the hood and doing the 3000 grit once again always with paper we can see how it leaves a nice even smooth Sheen and in some areas we're even getting some of that light reflection back now we went ahead and went around the rest of the car once again using that 2,000 grit if you have every intention to buff then you can put on an extra coat of clear but make sure you give enough enough time between a second and third coat before you lay it down we have enough paint on this panel to get it sanded down nice and remember with 2000 grit we're not removing a whole lot of material I like using the block on a show car finish because it really Sands it smooth and we know in the end we're going to have a beautiful finish now whenever doing any sort of sanding with polishing on a car you need to use the interface pad that's really going to soften up the scratch get around those Contours make sure you watch your edges you don't want to burn through this is a bad time you're going to have to respray it at that point if you have any burn throughs anything like fishe eyes or any sort of craters in a paint will need to be touched up previously with some clear coat and then you can go ahead and block those down when it comes to doing any sort of job just like this you need to take your time there's no rushing when doing any sort of wet sanding and buffing this was done over a course of a month so this was not done in one or two days and also be prepared that when you go to buff you're going to come back a couple days later and see some areas that still need to be buffed so make sure you take your time get everything sand it you don't want to have to go back and sand once you're buffing that really delays the process all right one so we have everything completely Allin 3000 grit show me and tell me how we're going to go ahead and polish this thing up all right well thank you for having me again so we're going to go with our sweat remover Pro X and that's the product we're going to be using and then we have an AR of different tools we got the rotary and we have a 3in and a 6 in G and then a mini rops so what we're going to do is we're going to go with our typical setup which is a microfiber pad and a Pham pad and we just going to polish away and give you a beautiful finish all right so we're going to start off the rotary first but the rotary is going to leave a little bit of swirl right yes so then we'll finish up with the da type of application right so we're going to go with the rotary today because we have a lot of surface to do and and we want to speed up the process so we're going to be using the rotary and then we're going to go behind with the other machine to clear everything up sounds good let's get to it now when entering into the detail World there are many ways to polish your car I'm going to show you the best way that works for me now the way I like to start every polish job is to use the rotary buffer although it's very dangerous if you don't know how to use it you can mess up the paint but it will speed up the process now if you follow this process with an random orbital polisher which will show you you're going to have a beautiful finish you do need to use both you can see the rotary buffer here even after a couple passes that's not finished quality you see it's got marring and buffer scratches and buffer Trails so what we decided to do is I would use my rotary buffer to get all of the 23,000 grit scratches off of the panel and then we'll follow it up using the random orbital polish now I will tell you you can do this all with the random orbital polisher but it will take you a very long time it will take you twice a Time matter of fact it might take you forever to get it all polished up so if you can really use both of these machines you're really going to find that your polish job is going to be sped up and it's going to look good in the end I find that you cannot finish a job using a rotary polisher and I found that out in my career with many black cars in the sun thinking they look great but the buffer Trails completely take over luckily for me Juan was close by and he was able to really show me how a detailer uses a random orbital polisher to remove the swirls all painters need a detailer in their life to work together with them to help them understand how to finish the paint now luckily for me we're going to be using our swirl remover which does a great job from Turbo wax you can also use a compound I'll link both in the description a compound is going to be a little bit more aggressive than a Polish but it will buff quicker but it will leave the paint a little bit more swirled so if you take a little bit more time with the swirl remover you'll have less polishing but if you use the compound it'll get done quicker so you'll ride around the same exact time so it depends on what you really want to do sometimes I like to use compound first to get a general cut and then I'll go right into the swirl remover using random or orbital polisher make sure that you have everything completely buffed and there's no Dole marks before moving into the random orbital polisher I like to use this random orbital polisher as a means of making it completely swirl free you can see here after a good buff it's looking pretty good and months later the car is assembled we called back one and we're like hey let's give it one final swir remove we're not going to use the rotary buffer at this point now since it's been several months we had Juan go ahead and give it one more polish before we did the ceramic coating now I do like ceramic coating cuz it really protects the paint and then coming into the new generation things have changed so much with waxes and ceramic coating now look at this rear bumper the right side was polished the left side was never even sanded just swiping a car with a rag can leave swirl marks that's why I'm happy we're going to be coating this car completely to prevent any of that in the future now buffing always isn't fun but we try to do it with a smile and take as much time as we need because the final product is what really matters once it's all buffed we'll use a prep solvent to remove any of the residue from the paint and use our boosted 2.0 ceramic coating now once we get it all applied I came around and I wiped it off after 2 or 3 minutes after it hazed up and his car is polished completely and swirl free and protected at the same time this vehicle came out really good and if you're wondering this is no ordinary Honda Civic and this vehicle being a Honda Civic EM1 chassis has more value than the actual labor and material of the paint job but when combining both together you have a true Masterpiece and Time Capsule we can see the gloss retention here is just stunning now with two coats of clear we still have all the UV protection since we only sanded it down with our 2000 grit if you intend to sand it down with a more coarse grit make sure you put on three coats I hope you guys learned something from this video and if you have any questions or do anything different make sure you leave a comment guys this is Brian from paint Society reminding you don't overthink it it's just paint I'll see you guys on the next
