[Music] if your garage door is squeaking and cracking and feels like it's about to fall off i'm going to show you how to make it smooth like butter let's go that wasn't good so to get rid of all those squeaks you gotta first pick the lubricant that's gonna be best for your garage door the wd-40 in the middle the regular one that thing's a degreaser it's gonna work for like a week get that thing out of there the white lithium grease on the left there the wd-40 brand there's a lot of different brands you can buy of white lithium grease it's gonna work and make your garage stop squeaking but let me show you the problem with it so last time my garage door was squeaking i hired this professional garage door guy to come out for almost 50 bucks and he used lithium grease on every single one of the joints and told me that's the way to do it well take a look at what it looks like now it's got a whole bunch of this yellow goopy sloppy nasty all over it so it doesn't look good it worked for a long time but it doesn't look good at all which is why i'm going to recommend you use a synthetic spray like the one on the right called garage door prolube goes on clean stays clean there's also another brand i've seen at the local hardware store recently called blaster garage door lubricant works pretty much the same so i'm going to put a link for both of those products in the description below all right now it's time to get to work first thing you do disengage that garage door because you don't want to be working on it and somebody open it up and take your head off holy cow that is horrible okay you want to spray all the joints that are holding the panels together so you want to get the joints that are in the middle of the garage door you also want to get the joints that are on the edge of the garage door by the wheels don't forget to spray the wheels because they have ball bearings in them that are going to be making sounds if they're not lubricated you also want to lubricate the pulley that's up at the top corner of the garage a lot of people forget to do that part but there's a whole bunch of metal touching metal right there and this is also very important you want to lubricate that spring now don't be shy here get it real good because there's a whole bunch of space in between those springs or metal or touching metal and you want to make it so it's silent so apply a nice liberal amount up there so you're gonna get the job done right here's another spot a lot of people forget you want to lubricate the hinge that's holding the garage door to the garage door opener and then lastly you want to spray the garage door track because the garage door opener has a little metal piece that slides up and down that track that could cause some squeaks one place you don't need to add lubrication is on the garage door track don't waste your time it's not going to make a difference all right now the last thing to do is test this bad boy out and see what it sounds like like butter if you feel like this video helped you out i appreciate you hitting the like button and don't forget to subscribe thanks for watching
