just in case they ain't getting the picture the first time around [Music] [Applause] [Music] uh [Music] um [Music] dragon mama coffee shout out to fairway for this coffee mug trying to get a little inspiration motivation looking at a few youtube videos before i go ahead and finish this fiberglass trying to catch up on these comments also i've been sitting here checking steve that he's swapping a two little landau in two days this is the second video here i've been sitting here getting a little inspiration from looks like it's fiberglass time as you can see i got some door panels here they for two door box chevy i think it's a 79 a 77 78 one of them he is there but you can see he has some tweeters here two tweeters and two six and a half right here he had a recess in the door he wanted me to just make a fiberglass pie for the two uh six and a half and the two tweeters him over here i just got one of each just for fitment the masses that's the twitter trying to come up with a design now my first step is i'm gonna make a platform right here so i can have something to go off of i'm gonna cut it out there osb which it don't matter because once i fiberglass i'm gonna cut the back side of that anyway but i'm gonna use some cardboard to come out with the design first once i come up with the design i'm gonna cut it out let me try to come up with something that i cut you back on okay i haven't came up with a platform as you can see i just went off this piece here because i'ma have this piece sitting on top of it i might have a six and a half off to the side but i just took a straight edge piece of wood made that land now in this land and i made this land i took this piece of tape not a piece of tape but roll the tape and made my little round over there that's all i did i just grabbed stuff around the shop because it ain't got to be exactly perfect because once i fiberglass yeah let me tell you i just wanted to have something to go out for something to go ahead and cut this out for the box cutter then you'll see what i'm going with when i'm going to cut it out this piece here is sit on top of it so i'm gonna have to cut this down the size of this osb so let me see i'm gonna go ahead and i'm gonna go ahead and cut my osb out first i'm just gonna bring this over here just trace it just get me two pieces out it's gonna be the same on both sides so on the other side i'm just gonna flip it over that'll be for that door [Music] all right you can see my base cut out my platform and this here is going to sit right on top of at the edge uh but i'm gonna have to cut that out like i said in order for it to sit down flush with it so let me go ahead and measure this up and cut it out see i gotta draw it out i just used to sharpen it just gonna come straight down across back down here so to sit down flush all right now you see it's sitting flush now now i could put a staple or a screw right here to attach it i hold it in place until i get fiberglass put one there now i got to do the same way with this side over here same process let me show you what i've done i had cut me two strips of wood for this one also for this one over here and i stapled them on the side of the piece here it's just so i can have somewhere to attach this rather than just this spot and that spot there i'm just going to take some wood glue and glue it on here and once it's dry then i shoot some nails on the side of it i'm just going to use this wood glue [Music] [Music] i let this glue dry up i'm gonna go ahead and move on to the next step show you what i've done i got a piece of cardboard i kinda hold on let me keep that speaker i kind of put the speaker i wish i had both of them but i just got one kind of where i want it i'm gonna put the other one right here i made uh something to go out for because i'm gonna use this to set up the speakers where i want that's where the tweeter gonna stop one on and uh six and a half's gonna stop right here so i'm gonna take this over here i'm gonna show you what i'm gonna do all right we got our piece we got our speakers so i'm gonna grab this six and a half and i'm gonna turn it over let me put it right here try to line it up it ain't got to be perfect and the other tweeter the end will be down here i'm gonna go ahead and trace these out i'll put this back on got it traced now what we're gonna do we're gonna move these and use these in the place of the ones that i don't have it's about right go ahead and trace these out i think this is going to be it for the night because i was trying to to decide if i want to use my router because i'm going to kind of sink these six and a half countersink or just do it the old-fashioned way i think i'm just going to use the router and i'm not going to do it in here because that sander doesn't get anywhere so i'm going to wait in the morning and do it outside but i'm going to take my [Music] the knife here and cut around these circles i'm cut these circles out well i'm not going to cut this snap but i'm cut these out because i got to make a smaller circle for these put a magnet [Music] then i'm going to take this here my template take it over here and transfer it over to my mdf i'm gonna try to get both pieces at this i believe i can do it yeah just one in the other door counter yep i'm just gonna trace inside these two circles okay i got it traced out from the inside then i also went around the outer just so i can know where how much room i got over here for the next one on the next one what you want to do you want to flip this over because it's going to be opposite edition i think i can put it right here yeah we'll go ahead and trace this inside out kind of outlander then i'll be ready to do the routing in the morning i'm really doing upside down i'm gonna go ahead and mark it this is the just the driver door i guess that i'm working right here it's gonna have to be kind of soft this is the passenger kind of [Music] finished up on the outer circle cuts now what i'm going to do i'm going to go back and cut the inner circle all the way through but i went on to cut it all the way through now on all four shout out to steve davis again for blessing me with that jasper jig you get a lot better circles with that than trying to do it with a jig so now i'm going to go ahead and do these tweeters i'm going to go ahead and cut the magnets out cut the magnet holes out just going to put them in place kind of where i had this here marked up then i'm just going to draw a circle around the magnet cut this up out got them dried out i'm gonna go ahead and try to cut these out with the router i could i can do it with the jigsaw but i'm gonna go ahead and cut it out with the router trying to hurt up before it get dark on my head got it back inside i'm going to go ahead and cut this on out cut it on through where i didn't cut with the router let me go ahead and cut them out then i cut your back on went on to cut these pieces out i also took some sandpaper and kind of knocked down these rough ends that was around him but i'm gonna do a smoke once i get the fiberglass but you can see they cut out speakers sit down up in there flush map that's the tweeter then what i'm gonna do i'm gonna have maybe a half an inch lip maybe three quarters of an inch probably somewhere along here i'm just gonna freehand all this i'm just gonna draw around the whole speaker ring then i'll come back up like that i'm just going to draw around the whole out of the speaker ring about an inch and a half not an inch and a half but a half an inch maybe three quarters let me go ahead and take care of that i cut you back on now you can see how to outline my speaker ring i did three quarters of an inch from the outside of the speaker all the way around now i'm gonna go back and take my jig so and just cut out the outline got both pieces cut out now i got to cut this piece here out because i want this hill to sit down somewhere flush with the top of this might not be exactly flush but it's going to sit down farther than this so i'm gonna have to cut this out so that's what i'm going to do now got it cut out i just use this drum of some x but i got enough clearance now i can set it up in there i'm gonna go ahead and do that one then i'll be ready to move to the next step take this bit right here and put it on my router open around my ends off i'm also going to countersink it so i can staple it and then it'll be countersunk you can see where i kind of sunk it and rounded the ends off comparing to the one that i didn't you'll see on my next clip why i've done it like this when i started laying the fleets on well i go ahead and tell you why i've done it like this so when i lay the fleece on i'm gonna staple the fleece down here i'm not gonna stabilize up here because i'm a brain i'ma build my fiberglass material up to this flat part you'll get a better understanding once i start doing it what i gotta do now i gotta cut me some legs to support this here and what i did i just drew i think i got ten five for each one i might not use all of them but i'm gonna use my circular saw and just cut these out here [Music] now i'm going to take my hot glue gun i'm just going to glue them up like this here and i'll probably put one on each side all right once it's dry see the hot glue strong and this is not for support it's just to hold everything in place into your fiberglass once you fiberglass you can take these out if you want to but once it dry you want to turn it over and just line it up where you want it and once you line it up go ahead and make your mark down here by the legs so you know where to put the hot glue once you make all your marks just pull it back up and go and put your hot glue on your base then set it back in place [Music] all i got it attached let me show you something see this it's just a hot glue but this over here it's not really attached to that but this part right here so i had hot glued a piece of wood onto this plastic here i'll probably go back and put a staple too right here then i cut some angles and i'm just going to slide this up in here and hot glue i glued down so it'll be kind of sturdy so i can put that fleece on it won't fall apart on me it's time to move on to the fleece now i got some loctite and some fabric this is pilot techno it's four-way stretch fabric but you don't have to use this i just add some of this leftover from another job that i did but here's the panel i'm gonna cut me two pieces the size of both panels then i'll get ready to put you back on once you got your piece cut to size you want to kind of even it out make sure you got enough on all ends then just throw it back on one end and start in the middle kind of spray this flat part and somewhere along there then once you get that lay down you can do the opposite side [Applause] [Music] all right it's time to move on to the next step we got to use the stapler once again i got the fleece down i just wrapped it over overlapped the back side for now and this part here once i resin it up i'm gonna go ahead and cut that out but i'm gonna wait till i rinse it up first but what we're gonna do now we're gonna go ahead and staple like up in here see how it's lifting up right now and once you resonate if you don't staple it it gonna lift up all the way through so i'm gonna kind of cut it off right here plus i'm gonna staple all the way around where i put that little groove in hey that's what i'm a staple all around this part huh me finished putting down the staples right here this plastic it was cracking when i was trying to shoot stables in this this sweater the little screw hole that there's two on one right here or right here i just tried to staple around it but the plastic was cracking so it won't lift up like over here you can see where it didn't go through it because if you want to staple that this part right here lifts up so what i'm gonna do i'm just gonna put some resin right here then i'm gonna put some i clamp something down right here but i make sure i got some aluminum foil or something so the resin won't stick to but i think everything else was okay so that's the spot down i'm gonna go and do the resin it's the resin i'm gonna use bundle fiberglass resin i already pulled some of them up in the cup i forgot my chip brushes no hardener these size staples i used quartz let me go ahead and mix in this resin up it's dried up now the first coat of resin i can go ahead and remove this nonsense is hard [Music] see how that resin don't stick to this wax paper it don't stick the aluminum foil too and you see how it kept the shape now i can go ahead and cut this these holes out before i put some more resin or fiberglass metal because it's going to get harder and harder to cut out so i'm gonna go ahead and cut these out something else i need to cut out it's got what it was i know these two holes here i don't know well let me go ahead and cut these out [Music] oh [Music] getting the whole fiberglass up it's still wet now about to go ahead and cut my openings out with my speakers and my handle go because if you keep on putting the fiberglass mat on here it's just gonna make it even harder and harder to cut out so i try to go on and cut it out [Music] early as you can see i went on to cut everything out i also been trying to clean this up because it looked like they tried to paint it and this plastic real brittle and they just painted over the business so i'm trying to knock out that loose uh plastic where it was bro that i'm trying to knock all that down and get all that paint off because i don't want to paint on top of that because my paint won't stick then but i'm gonna have to fix a lot of this up in here i don't know if you can see it i'm gonna have to smooth all that down i'm also going to have to put some fiberglass filler around here so make my transition smoother plus all way up around the speaker rims but i'm going to go ahead and knock all this down a little bit more i'm just going to use 80 grit sandpaper on the v8 i don't know what i did with my da somewhere around here but i'm gonna put some 80 grit on it then i'm gonna come back and try to transition these ends off like up in here i'm gonna get that going [Music] i put the filler down i also put some fiberglass filler right here because this piece here was cracked this plastic little piece it was cracked so i put some fiberglass filler to stretching it on up i just use this bundle bundle glass i'm gonna go ahead and let that dry like i'm gonna let it dry overnight because i'm gonna take it on in then once it dry i'm gonna come back and hit it with the sander the d.a sander 80 grit sandpaper [Music] knocked everything down with the d.a as you can see the d.a it'll square your edges off so you're gonna have to go back with your hand i'm gonna go back with my hand with some 80 grit and i'm gonna round everything off then i also got to clean this out up in here i started sanding this but i'm gonna do it a little bit more because it ain't perfect plus right here i'm gonna have to bring this down some more i couldn't get it with the day i'm have to do it by hand but the da is buying it just to knock it down so you won't have that much hand sanding now i'm gonna start hand sanding and getting it smooth enough to paint let me go ahead and do this with the 80 grit then i'll cut you back on [Applause] [Music] [Music] me well i think i got everything sanded down just enough to prime it first round of primer as you can see i cleaned up the hole openings i had to go back and put some fiberglass filler up and down and kind of shape it on up also cleaning up around here i cut out my fabric that was here also on the back side i'm gonna go ahead and blow them off then i'm gonna go ahead and shift the primer on [Music] foreign [Music] it's the following morning now you can see all the imperfections once the primer on it this camera might not focus because it don't be want to focus right with this primer you can see all up in there i gotta put some glaze and put it up in there gotta sand this poor hair down son imperfection it's a lot of little pinholes here now then you can see the sand scratches from the 80 grit like here pin hole the imperfections here enough got to get that smooth but i'm going to go ahead and fill these pinholes up these little imperfections minor imperfections with some bundle glazing put it and once that drive i'm gonna sand it down with some 180. i'm trying to get my 80 grit sanding scratches out with the 180. i might try to get this up in here a little bit smoother which is going to be covered up with the speaker i just don't like the way they look [Music] is [Music] [Applause] glaze and platter doesn't dry it up now it's time to go ahead and sand it i'm just going to be sanding it with some 180 i'm going to use the block on the flat surface and i got some 180 for the v8 i'm just gonna fold it like i did this here and i'm gonna get that with my hand around the uh contours let me go ahead and get started let me see if i can focus this come in show you something see like this dark blue area here that's a low spot the dark area of the gray primer like right here it's low so i can bring this on down so what you won't see nothing but the light gray primer see this was a hot spot here where you see the fillet but i haven't brought it down now so it's easy uh wrap this round two of the primer this should be it right here with the primer as you can see i got everything sanded down just pulled up in hell was real messed up i got it pretty much smooth as i could but i think the primer should cover up most of it go ahead and mix it up go ahead and spray i got the paws ready to be painted now everything's sanded down i had to go back and touch up a few spots but i don't think i mentioned what color i was going with it's growing up chameleon it's going to be orange the red to go to green flip but first we got a layer base coat the base coat going gonna be a black base coat i'm gonna go ahead and wipe everything down white sugar remover blow it off then i'll be ready to shoot the base [Music] just three coats of the jet black [Music] lay it down pretty good i got the chameleon over here it mixed up [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] finished up on the chameleon i'm gonna go ahead and let it clear now [Music] [Music] [Music] my [Music] this [Music] [Music] [Music] me [Music] [Music] up foreign
