welcome in this how to we will create this kick panel the first step is to remove the kick panel the panel will be used to make our fiberglass mold to make the mold will be used in fiberglass cloth as well as fiberglass Matt will use cooking spray as a mold release this will prevent the resin from sticking to the panel to make the molding process simple we'll use fiberglass cloth fiberglass cloth can adapt to the curves a lot easier than fiberglass mat now we can pour the resin at the M ekp and mix it thoroughly we'll apply the resin using a chip brush keep brushing onto the cloth is completely soaked and the panel is completely visible now we can begin applying the fiberglass mat we'll be dabbing the resin onto the mat instead of brushing keep in mind that brushing can move the mat at our place and cause a mess to properly mold the curved areas will be using aluminum foil to hold the mat in place before we move on we'll inspect the panel and patch any areas that were not covered by the mat once we are finished we can set the panel in the Sun to dry in the meantime we'll be creating the mounting rings using a router in a circle jig we'll cut the outer diameter first next we'll break out the mounting hole this will make it easier to clear out later now we'll cut a ring to Reese's manner speaker this step is optional we'll be using wood glue to bond the ring to the mounting disk now we can round the edges using a round over bit this will complete the mounting disk once the panel has dried we can remove the original cake panel from the mold we will trace a kick panel using a marker with an aerosol we will cut away the excess fiberglass now we need to decide where to mount the speaker disk well test-fit the panel and place the mounting disc in the best location where does not get in the way of the door or the passengers feet be sure to mark the location once you have found it to bond a piece of 2x4 we'll use dirt with dura glass only takes a few minutes to cure and it creates a strong bond now we can attach our mounting disk using a single drywall screw to wrap our panel will use a stretchy polyester fleece first we'll spray adhesive throughout the edges on the bottom side now we can take the fleece and begin attaching it to the bottom of the panel when the fleece text we can turn the panel over now we can begin stretching and pressing the fleece onto the bottom glute areas keep stretching and pressing lightly stretching too hard can cause a piece to work once our wrinkles have been eliminated from the piece it'll be ready for resin we'll trace the inner ring to avoid applying are necessary resin around the edges well mix up some resin and apply using a chip brush lightly brush the resin brushing too hard can cause sags and wrinkles continue brushing and pay close attention to the ring areas this will be the weakest part of the panel so apply enough resin around the ring avoid brushing past the edges otherwise the plates were released and caused wrinkles after the fleece has been completely saturated we'll let the panel dry for a few hours once the resin has cured we can turn the panel over take a razor and begin cutting away the excess please we'll use an angled die grinder with a 24 great bow like this to grind down any of the hard edges use a dremel and a grinding bit for the hard-to-reach areas now we'll cut away the excess please in the ring area to get a perfect cut around the ring we'll use a die grinder paired with a flush trim bit now we can send the panel using the angled die grinder with an 80 grit disc be sure to send evenly throughout the panel otherwise you'll create low spots continue standing with the 80 grit disc when the panel has reached the same consistency and is fairly smooth it'll be ready for primer before we apply the primer will clean the panel using surface prep now we'll spray the primer throughout the panel we need to make sure we cover all the sanding scratches and pin holes left by the 80 grit disc continue spraying the primer and allow it to build up when the panel has been completely covered by the primer we'll let it dry for a few hours when the primer has dried we can begin sanding they using a DA sander with an 80 grit disc Hanson were necessary especially around the ring area for a small surface will finish the sanding with a 220 grit disc when the sanding is complete well remove the drywall screw and cut out the mounting hole using a jigsaw we'll also pry out the piece of wood this kick panel will be completed using texture and paint once again we'll clean the panel using surface prep we'll begin by spraying a heavy coat of texture spray at a distance of about 10 inches for better results we'll spray a second coat for complete coverage now we can begin spraying the pain always spray in smooth passes and let the paint flash in between coats be patient and never zigzag or the paint will run now we'll let the paint dry for a few minutes before installing it here we have the final result you can repeat the same process for the other kick panel
