hey guys welcome back to my channel today we're going to be working in the kitchen this kitchen has come such a long way i've already done so many projects in here if you haven't seen any of those videos make sure that you go check those out but i still have a few more things left to do before i call this kitchen done [Applause] [Music] [Applause] okay what we have left to do in the kitchen so i was trying to figure out if i wanted to do what to do for backslash i was thinking of doing it there and higher i've changed my mind on that i think i want to go ahead and fill in the tops of these cabinets i know i just painted them and installed the crown molding like a month ago but we're gonna undo that well not all the painting but we're gonna pop off the crown molding and build up some frames and extend these cabinets up to the ceiling and then we'll just have backslash down there [Applause] so [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] okay i scraped all the caulk off but this piece right here is taller than i need it to be i need it to be level with that so i'm just going to mark it where it needs to be and then i'll pop it off and then we can cut it down and put it back okay i took a wet drag to get off as much of the old caulk as i could but you can see here like it's still kind of uneven i'm just gonna take the sander and smooth that out so when we paint over the top of it it'll be seamless [Music] okay because the way the joists are running they're running this way i'm not able to drill into the ceiling so i'm gonna have to create like framing basically so i have all these pieces right here cut and we're gonna basically create our own studs extend the studs out it'll make sense once i show you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] i built this vent hood so i know what's underneath it wood and mdf so i'm able to screw right into it but for over here above the cabinets i'm finding studs and then i'm screwing a 2x3 into those studs and then into the 2x3 i'm screwing this wood into that so i'm basically just extending the studs so when i go in with my nail gun to attach the front piece i'll be able to attach it to the wood and it'll be secure [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay so we've got like our frames built up top that we're going to put the boards on top of um i'm going to nail those in with the nail gun like the sides and then i'm going to go through here and screw them just to make sure that they don't go anywhere [Music] so it only nailed in one side because the middle pieces when i screw it i'm gonna reach on top and pull it to where it's flush right here and then that way i'll screw it i'll pull it and screw it and then pull it and screw it and then the end other end shoot all the way in with the nail gun and that way it'll be flush all the way across [Music] [Music] um [Music] so of course the walls and things are not straight so we'll have to go through and fill like there and there there with caulk and so it looks all nice and even this one is quite the gap so i'm gonna stuff it full of some stuff first like that's just some tissue and i'll keep doing that and then it'll be way less to caulk if i tried it if i cocked all the way back there would take tons of caulk and it would take forever to dry [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] i am finishing this project today if you're thinking of doing this yourself i mean really it should only take like a day and a half but i just keep getting distracted and anyway we're finishing everything up today all right everything is caulked around the crown molding and ready to go we have to put some trim like right here to cover up where the cabinet meets that top board and we're going to cut those and then glue those in place [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay here's what i'm working with i'm trying to i was trying to put the trim right here level but the ceiling right here it's not level so i'm just trying to do the best i can to make it look the same but i'm having to eyeball it [Music] [Music] [Music] okay everything is cocked the holes are filled and we have to let that dry and then it'll be time to paint [Music] [Music] [Music] having a good time no harm it's gonna be all right gonna be all right [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's gonna be all right [Music] [Music] having a good time [Music] [Applause] [Music] singing hey ain't got no money [Music] [Music] that's another project done we have still so much left to do we have another project coming up next week here's a hint behind me so make sure that you're subscribed because you don't want to miss it thanks so much for watching bye [Music] [Applause] [Music]
