I take one throw it right down the middle it does that that's what we want to avoid is leaving a split just like that hey guys jr. Eamonn back again at the training center in turbo tech and Chesterfield Michigan today we're going to talk to the beginners the very first time boilers who maybe don't quite know that you're supposed to try and learn to curve the ball to get your scores to go up so we're gonna teach you when we get back [Music] all right what's up guys so we're gonna teach you how to curve the ball but first there's a few thing couple things that you need to know about the differences in the lanes and the differences in bowling balls for you to really understand what you're getting yourself into so on Alain's you can see here I have two different lanes here and even though they are pretty they are the same length and they are the same width they are two different lengths and there are two different types of surfaces once you can see as darker one is lighter and it's not just the color that's different one is a little bit softer this one's a little bit harder they are called what's awesome they're called a synthetic lane so more like an artificial Lane made out of like a plastic almost whereas back in the day you used to see nothing but wood they were made out of wooden boards all the way down and then you would see P that these guys would cut them down and smooth them out put a lacquer on them and sometimes even put these clear coats on them to make it to where they protect it and then they invented this stuff they call oil now all these lanes that you see everywhere you go bowling even if it's just once or twice it doesn't matter how many times you go bowling wherever you go you're gonna see an oil so if you step over that foul line the lanes become really slippery and the reason that I was there it was always meant to protect the lanes and nowadays it's actually used more it is still a protection but now it's used more for manipulating scoring pace kind of like in a golf course when you you want scoring pace to be a little bit lower you put you move the pen into a really hard location and then you put some sand traps around the green now scoring comes down or you make the rough higher it's the same type of thing if you want scoring pace to go down you add a little bit more oil on all the parts of the lane to where your ball doesn't curve as much and now it makes a little bit more difficult most times and the scores come down a little bit so in order to get better at this game we got to learn how to curve the ball because curving the ball makes the ball go into the pins and hit those pins so much harder get some spraying all around so that way they connect with other pins and make them fall rather than just throwing it right down the middle and watching it just push the pins straight back and leaving splits constantly so maybe you're one of those people who go bowling once or twice a year with your friends and you just kind of chuck it down the middle of the lane and hope for the best maybe you want to get a little bit better and learn to curve the ball the the proper way or even just a beginner way so we're going to take a look at this but the next thing you need to understand is that bowling balls are different so we have a couple different types of bowling balls there's plastic balls and then we have urethane balls and then we have reactive resin balls now let's think of them like snow tires or regular tires for that matter if you have a tire on your car that is super balled and doesn't have any traction on it it's going to spin in the snow or wet surface that'd be the equivalent to a plastic ball out on the lanes with you oh they are a super smooth surface they don't really have any teeth in them they just kind of spin in the oil and they go pretty straight for the most part you can get them to curve but you have to throw a slow and you got to get it to find friction which is where the oil is not and then we have a urethane which would be more like a normal tire that you would have on your car that just has little studs on them it does see traction a little bit through the oil but not a ton it just kind of gives you that small little bit of traction there and a little bit of curve that would be more like a urethane those are like your house balls that you go when you go and you grab a ball off the rack that's close to what you use there and then you have your reactive resin bowling balls which is like a snow tire that has chains on them these things they dig into the snow and they curve and they they you know they have no problem making traction out in the snow that would be the equivalent of a reactive resin ball these things you can curve the entire lane you need to make the ball do pretty much whatever you want so but the hard part is actually understanding how to put the spin on the ball so how we do that is by sometimes some people just don't use their thumb and they just put their fingers in and they just kind of spin it off their hand and they get it to curve that way that's okay if you want to do it that way go for it that's fine but how do we do it if we actually want to put our thumb in the ball and have a little bit more control well well we need to think about is by coming up here to the foul line if I'm going to curve the ball it's almost like a rotation I'm just gonna rotate my hand so instead of a normal release where I would just let it go and just let it go straight off my hand like that and just let it roll you see that's not very successful what we want to do is we want to try and get our hand to rotate around the ball and kind of get here and then just kind of spin the ball off the side of our hand in another video I'll show you how to do it the proper way but for right now let's just learn to try to get some spin on the ball as much as possible so if I want to get some spin on the ball I have to get my fingers to come over here to the side of the ball so instead of being directly behind it this way and going forward rolling it straight like I just did I got to get my hand to come to the side of the ball and really spin the ball that way you can watch it curve all the way across obviously that's not very good because I didn't hit any pins but that's alright that's just giving you the technique that's giving you the understanding that you have to spin the ball off the side of your hand so the your thumb has to come out and then your hands rotate to the side now the one thing you want to avoid is getting your fingers to come to the top side so you don't want to actually spin it this is still this is actually considered rolling the ball and this is what we don't want to do we don't want to spin it to where we go this way and then rotate to the top and spin it that way on the top so we don't want to do this we don't want to go here like that okay you can see it still curves but that would be an improper way of doing it you're gonna hurt your hand you're gonna hurt your wrist and it's just not going to be very consistent so we want to try and keep our hand behind it and rotate your fingers to the side of the ball just a little bit to get the ball to curve it's gonna be here we're gonna be off the side we're gonna spin it off our hand it's gonna spin and it's gonna hook to the left just like that now obviously the objective is to hit the pin that's closest to you the one in the front you want to hit it into the pocket but this is just a way for you to go bowling and to try to get a little bit better at just spinning the ball and getting it to rotate so that way when you throw it into the friction it curves all the way back and you can hit the pocket and you can knock down more pens so if I throw it down the middle let's see if I can hit the middle I take one throw it right down the middle it does that that's what we want to avoid is leaving a split just like that so thats the reason why we curved the ball it's that way the pins actually fly around a little bit more and they don't get pushed straight back and leap stuff like that because how difficult is it gonna be me to make that spare with just one ball so now obviously this is just for beginners to learn how to spin the ball just a little bit more to learn what to do to get their scores to go up just a pinch so this isn't exactly for the advanced bowler to try to learn how to curve it this is more for that beginner but if you want to learn a little bit more I have other videos that you can go see how to increase your reverie how to become more accurate how to improve the feel of your ball the list goes on I got a bunch of different videos and I'll continue to make videos but some of the new ones that I'm going to be coming out with will be more towards the beginner bowler who doesn't quite understand some of the basic concepts or who is just trying to learn some of the basic concepts of bowling so I hope this helps if it doesn't let me know if it does also let me know just like and comment down below make sure to check out the link in the description we've got the mug club and then we've got all kinds of apparel over at life's traction control dot-com that you can check out too so hopefully you guys support channel if you don't that's okay if you do I love you thank you but until next time guys we will see you later [Music] you
