how to create a Google Maps API key for free step by step hey guys welcome back so if you're looking to create a Google Maps API key I will break it down step by step in a very simple and beginner friendly manner keep in mind that API keys are much much much beneficial as compared to directly integrating Google Maps and can help you in adding Google Maps in a better way so let's get started now the first thing you're going to do is head on over to this page which is Google Cloud console so just open up a new page and then go into your search bar search for Google Cloud console once you do that you will see this which says Google Cloud platform just click on that and it will open up the Google Cloud console now because I am logged into my account it's directly going to show me this usually most of us have created our Google profiles already and they are logged in so you will be directly led to this page on the top you're going to see this section called my first project and you're going to click on that and then click on new project once you click on new project you're going to change the name of that so this is going to be my deren or moroi Maps API and once I do that I'll just click on create now once I've created this I'm just going to open up up the new project that we just created and now this has been created I'll just open up that project now once you open up your project on the top left you have these three lines which are the navigation menu lines click on that and in your pinned products by default you will find apis if you can't find apis over here you're going to scroll down a little and you guys can see I have apis and services at the bottom and if you can't find it then it means it has been pinned so you can usually go into more product and then you're going to find it in more products so just search for apis and services over here and click on that once you click on apis and services we're going to enable certain apis so to do that we're going to go into enabled apis and services and then on the top you're going to click on this button that says enable apis and services once you do that you're going to have a very very large array of apis but for embedding Google Maps into your website you're just going to go into the maps a apis and click on view all and we're going to enable these particular apis so we have the directions API geocoding Maps JavaScript geolocation and places so this is the Google Enterprises API that they have recently launched this is a different API this is like they're all in one API but if you're going to go with the initial like you know basic setup you're we going to enable all of these so I'll just show you guys from the bottom we have the geolocation then after that we have the places API which is a new API which is a really nice one to use now I have enabled geolocation then we have Places maps JavaScript so this is Maps JavaScript and then we have our road tollers scroll up yeah we have Jo coding over here so we have Joe coding Maps JavaScript and then our remaining apis we have directions and places to add I'm going to scroll down yeah this is the places API and where is the dire here is the directions one so in total you have one two three four five six six apis you have to enable so I like to just open them up in a new tab and just click on enable click on enable click on enable and enable all of these apis all together so we're just going to wait for the enabling to be completed on all of these now you guys will see that certain apis are going to require a billing account this is the new places API which does require a billing account if you don't want to add that you can remove that as well and then you're just going to complete the API services so agree and continue and then after that you can just complete the Google console and you can uh complete your payment verification to make sure that your API usage has been confirmed now once you have completed your apis into your account and you're not going to be built unless you actually reach a threshold of over $200 so once you do that you can go into apis and services in your project and we're going to wait for this to be loaded up now once you have done that you will see your credentials on the left enabling was not completed and I closed up the account so I'll just reenable all of these first and I'm just going to put in my payment info now one thing to note this is still free you guys can see uh on the right you guys can see no charge to try maps apis and you get a monthly $200 credit card you know you basically get $200 worth of credit and maps apis are free and you also get a extra 300 credit for any Cloud product for the next 90 days and this is not going to charge you anything this is just so they know in case you use any of their premium features that you can be charged once you've done that you're going to go ahead into your Google cloud and in your apis and services on the left you have credentials so in your credentials you're going to see your API keys and I'm just going to enter those that incompleted info to get started so now that I've completed the payment info I'm just setting up our consent screen and I'm going to name this as a map API you can add a logo add your authorized domains at the bottom so where do you want your API to be used any authorized way so I'll just use my Google sites and I'll just click on copy over here once I do that I can just paste that in I'll remove the HTTP and then after that you can see must be a top private domain so i. store and that is your domain below that we have developer contact info where we're just going to insert that over here there are a few different info boxes that are required and then just some optional options then you're going to click on Save and continue then you have the option to save and continue with your Scopes ADD test users as well as a basic summary and then I can go back to our dashboard then you can go ahead and set up the remainder of your credentials with your enabled apis so now with your enabled apis you can set up the credentials so whether or not your API could be used with other websites or only yours so you're going to make it a private API and then just copy the HTML from your API uh credential section so over here you're going to find the credential restrictions and with the restrictions you also have the code embedding so that was it for today I hope you guys found this video helpful make sure to like this video And
