why don't we say that it's too late for us now why do we stay when i blame me for the things that weigh me down hey guys okay so in today's video it's something a little bit more practical so i have came to my friend's house here in malibu because i'm about to shoot some content which is probably going to last me for a good month and the reason i've came here is two things firstly it's a lot easier to shoot content when you have support and in this video i'm going to show you how to do it with friends that are willing to help you and how to do it on your own and also because they have a bit more of a professional setup which i'll take you through and just explain what they've got but i thought i'd just bring you on the journey with me and show you what it looks like to batch create a month's worth of content in just a couple of hours so let's go okay so before i bring you behind the scenes i want to explain the process a little bit because a lot of people don't know this but there's actually a really big difference between a brand shoot and a content shoot so what do i mean by that a brand shoot is when you go in there with a lot of intention you're doing things for your like magazines or your website or specific ads just you're going in there for very very specific things so you might spend a lot more time doing your hair and makeup you might have a more formal wear and you really want to do a lot of shots in one outfit so that you have lots of variations for things whereas a content shoots a little bit different so content you might be using across social might also still be on your website blog um anything like that but you're more likely to be using this as content so it's fast kind of fast paced lots of different outfits you want as many different scenes and stories as possible and so i'll typically do a brand shoot maybe once a year you know if that where i get dressed up and i'm planning on redoing the website or redoing podcast covers or ads things like that things where i want to look a bit more formal i typically don't do that ton content shoes however i do do a lot more frequently because i want to make sure that i've got content in the bank to be posting consistently on social media you guys know i'm a big fan of posting consistently on instagram and the best way to do that is being prepared now i don't know about you but i certainly don't feel like getting up every single day and taking a picture of myself most of the time i am not in hair and makeup and i'm in sweats and i'm not really looking camera ready and i'm not in that mood to be taking pictures so what i'm about to share with you is going to take all of that headache away it's going to take the post paralysis away and ensure that you've always got content that you can work with so with a content shoot what i will first do is really sit and think about what's coming up in the next month so what do i need content for and if you want to write this down if you can get really granular about what stories you want to tell that's also really powerful so just for example let's say this month i'm traveling i might want to you know have some content where i'm packing where i'm showing what i'm taking where i'm talking about my itinerary why i'm going there things like that or i know you know if something big is coming up in the world and i want relevant content for that i really want to just look ahead in the next month or so and think about what's coming up and what stories i want to tell and then using that i'll start to map out a shot list now you might not have stories for every single shot list but you might have certain stories you might say okay this month i want to talk about my morning ritual i want to talk about journaling i want to talk about working virtually with a team all of these different things so you'll write all that down first and then you'll think about the shot list and what i'll do is just i'll open a google doc or a spreadsheet you know i love a spreadsheet open that and just go through and number things one picture of me with coffee two picture of me with journal i'll go through map them out and i'll just brainstorm and i'll probably if it's a month's worth of content end up with 30 shots and then what i'll do is i'll go back to that shot list and i'll think about what i want to wear so my biggest pet peeve is when people are really unprepared and show up to a shoot with not really thinking through what they're going to wear or how it's going to pan out because what happens is you spend so long in chaos and panic mode that you aren't able to really get content and if you're relying on someone to take pictures for you that person's really relying on you to be just efficient quick knowing what you're doing so i like to go through my shot list and i'll think about the outfits i'm going to wear and i'll think about if i can double outfits up so maybe i'll wear the same outfit for morning coffee ritual and morning journaling different things like that i'll map out all my outfits and then from there i'll go and create an outfit list everything that i know i need to pull for that day then if it's relevant i'll create a location list so i'll map out on that shot list where the location is going to be so once i've got all of that in my doc or spreadsheet i'm going to head to pinterest and i love to use pinterest for inspiration for images so if i've got a shot list and i know morning coffee i might type into pinterest morning coffee and i'll see if any pictures like pop up that i really really like and resonate with and i'll save them and i'll add them to that shot list so that we've got a bit of a start we know we're working with because i don't know about you but i'm no model and it certainly doesn't come naturally to me to be posing in front of the camera and yes you'll pick it up with practice but if you can take inspo from someone who is maybe a little bit better at it then i think that's really helpful and a little hack is you know when you're scrolling through instagram if you see an image that really resonates with you just hit the save button and save them all in instagram and when it comes to doing your next shoot you've got all that content there so that's how i really get started with a content shoot and then i'll either ask a friend if they want to hop in and do with me and we'll take pictures of each other that day or i'll do it myself i'll use the good old self timer and i'll figure it out so there's so many ways you can do this and what i thought would be fun is i'll bring you behind the scenes of my day now and i'll explain a few of the different sets things that we're doing and um all those little secrets so keep watching if you want to see behind the scenes okay so i'm just trying on a few different outfits like i said i've got everything planned it is way more organized than it looks right now but i'm going to try a few things on and then i'm just going to try and blast through and get as much content i can do in a short period of time [Music] so when i'm doing pictures i love to just include props so things like wine i love a tea cacao like i said journals you can add so many different things just to add a bit of character and think about the story you're gonna tell so this is a great image to talk about you know on friday 5 p.m relaxing for the weekend so think about your stories when you're creating content okay it's very cliche but who doesn't love a wine in the sunset [Music] okay so just finished shooting and i don't normally do more professional kind of pictures but i needed some new headshots and so would you believe this whole setup it looks so professional it cost like 150 um and i'm going to explain how you can do this more at the end but we've just wrapped in the house i'm gonna head down to malibu country mart now to do a bit more lifestyle stuff away from the formal and then at the end i'll share just a bit more of the kind of detailing the light all that and for the final part of the day we started in the house we got like five scenes in the house now we are here outside now i love to shoot around 5 6 p.m because you get golden hour you get a really really nice light it's not too bright so we're going to probably do another five shots here and that means i'm i'm coming away with a lot of content in two hours which is great okay you guys so like i said i'm not a model but this is this my tip i don't know if anyone's gonna say this is wrong but when i'm walking i just fake it and i walk one step forward and one step back unless you just kick my legs up and it makes it look like you're actually walking and then the person taking your pictures doesn't need to run after you so it works for me [Music] okay so we just wrapped for the day i got so much content done i think in total i've done like 13 outfits and probably like five good shots in each outfit i've done a bunch of reels so just spending a couple of hours doing this on a saturday has meant that i'm gonna have so much content i've also got reels i've got fun things to play with and it's gonna save me so much time get rid of all that post paralysis so if you're interested in learning more about how we're doing content i am gonna work on something um like some kind of training where i'm gonna put together different pieces of equipment that i use and all of that kind of stuff so if you're interested um let me know let me know in the comments below and i'm gonna pull that together in the next couple of months it has been so much fun making this video for you guys and actually just bringing you behind the scenes of something i'd be doing anyway if this is the kind of content that you like let me know because i will happily do more of it so make sure you like and subscribe to my channel and let me know in the comments below what you liked about it and what you want to see more of your body [Music] of you
