We now know why 4090 adapters
are catching fire. Let's give you the steps to ensure this doesn't happen to you. Okay guys first of all huge shout out to Gamers
Nexus for the incredible job that they have done. No more theory craft. No more uh, just straight up
fear in the headlines. We're focusing on trying to get everyone some answers. In fact we're going
to go ahead and say this video is sponsored by Gamers Nexus because I want to give them all the
credit. Here's the deal. We now know what you need to do to keep your 4090 from catching fire or
your 4080 or 4000 series in general. A couple key points. One, it doesn't happen very often. In
fact there was a brand new class action lawsuit, according to PC mag that has just been released, that
20 people on Reddit, out of all of the individuals, are the ones that have essentially caught on
fire. Failures are rare. They are fewer than uh, like 0.1 percent at this point. Now I want to talk
a little bit about what the actual issue was. One, foreign object debris. So basically sometimes in
manufacturer or sometimes in shipping there'd be extra objects, extra material that would get
inside of the connectors. The second thing is, is partially bending. But the third one and the
most important one is actually user error. And that was something we tried exploring. We just
didn't know the uh, the level of effort it would really take to make it show itself. This is
why it has a very low percentage of actually happening and why it took so long for somebody
to find the reason and the source for that. So awesome job Gamers Nexus, but now what I'm going
to do is I'm going to walk you through two cases. One that's just a standard normal one and then
of course the 011 Dynamic, because that's what everybody does and talk a little bit about the
best practices to make sure that this does not happen to you. You just built a PC like this. This
is the Lancool 216. This will work just like any other case. The last thing you want to plug in is
actually your GPU connection. Make sure there is no like, like plastic, anything like that inside
of these at all. So just make sure that they're very clean. Take your cable and plug it all the
way in. On some cables like this one from Corsair you'll actually hear it click. You want to make
sure that thing is super secure. Make sure your cable connections are all good. Make sure that
your cable management is finished. Then once that's done then go through and push it in one
more time. Just making sure that this is super secure. At that point in time you are more than
likely 99.9 percent of the chance not going to have any issues. Now if you're using, like one of
these bigger ones, but if you notice that with this adapter that it is bending a lot. Then in that
case it might be better to switch to an ATX or one of these other adapters I'm going to show
you. Because you'll get a nicer bend. These are pretty bulky and it's not, you know, the bulkiness
actually can cause more of the issue than just using something like this. So let's go over to
the 011 Dynamic and kind of show you a little bit more. Okay so here's the deal. The 011 Dynamic
and I'm going to have Josiah just come in here. If you look here on the side. You can actually
see you just don't have a ton of clearance here. And so when, I'm going to show you an example,
this is the 4000 series extension that you get. When I plug this in. This one does not click. So
that's really clear. You can see that bending this. You have to bend this a lot to get this down. You
can see I just don't have a ton of room for that cable right. And this is not even all the way shut.
For the 011 Dynamic I would not recommend using this cable. So I have, and there's a link down
in the description below for a cable like this, if you don't have an ATX 3.0 power supply, because
when I use this one it's actually hardly touching the glass. I'm not getting any additional pressure
on the cable. Try to do it more of a downward slope versus a like, a strict side to side. Again a lot of
these cables have really natural curves that seem to flow very, very well. I will say some of these
cables do a better job of being secure. The one from Corsair that we're showing right here. This
one actually does a really good job of snapping in as does the one that we have linked down in the
description below. So very, very simply. Number one, when you get your connector just make sure that
there's no debris. Just check the connections make sure there's nothing inside of it. Then once you're
done with your cable management then plug it. Make sure it's securely plugged in. Don't unseat and
reseat it. Just make sure that it's pushed all the way in. That'll fix 99.9 of issues. To just be extra
safe, on the 011D, don't use this cable. Buy another cable that has a better bend, that doesn't have
the bulkiness of this, so you don't get the bending or anything like that. And then if you are bending,
specifically on any case, try to get downward. Maybe a little bit of sidewards transversal, but nothing
that's side to side. More down and over. Guys I'd love to know down in the description below uh. if
this helped. if you learned anything and for the most part now if you feel more confident going in
there. Again I just want to reiterate, 0.01% chance that this is actually going to happen to you based
on the limited data that Steve has. And for the most part based on the class action lawsuit that
was just filed. 20 people that's all that we've seen. And then like I said Nvidia still continues
to investigate. But while you're down there leaving us comments letting us know if this helped. Make
sure that you slap that subscribe button with that like button and ring that notification bell.
So you get a notification each and every time that we post a new video like this. Because we try to
react to videos like this pretty quickly. So if this helped we'd love to know that and also for
