Welcome to Panlasang Pinoy! Today we'll be cooking a version of "Laing" this version is for beginners If you haven't cooked "laing" before or any dish that has coconut milk, this is for you We'll be using "ginataang gulay" recipe mix because this contains the richness and creaminess of coconut milk and contains seasonings and spices so no need to season further I call this "Laing na Gabi" and these are the ingredients we need dried "gabi" leaves 2 packs of Knorr Ginataang Gulay recipe mix, 40-gram pack pork thai chili we'll also be using onions 13 00:00:58,000 --> 00:00:59,000 garlic and ginger aside from these, we'll also need water and here is the complete list of all the ingredients and their measurements Are you guys ready? Come and let's start cooking! Let's start off by mixing the Knorr Ginataang recipe mix with water Put the Knorr Ginataang recipe mix in a mixing bowl this is the first pack, let's put the second We may bought this in "sari-sari" stores or in the market So if you're in the Philippines, this is available anywhere add a little bit of water then start mixing I'm using wire mix for efficiency but if you don't have any, ordinary spoon will do gradually add water while mixing It's easier dilute when water is added gradually we may now pour all our water we'll using 5 cups of water in total 5 cups goes with two packs for this recipe alone once mixed, we may now start cooking Arrange our pork in a cooking pot this is pork shoulder or "kasim" but you may also use "liempo" or pork belly cut into small chunks like this let us now add our onions these are thin sliced white onions minced garlic 5 to 7 cloves of garlic and these are ginger, minced as well when it comes to ginger we may either mince it like this or chop it strips scatter in our cooking pot and we may now add our coconut milk mixture add only about 3 1/2 cups of "gata" save some for later there you go we will now cover our cooking pot and cook we may now start cooking put to heat and let it simmer bring to boil, let it cook for 10 minutes let's cover this for a moment and cook in medium heat for 10 minutes after 10 minutes, remove lid then add "gabi" leaves make sure to loose leaves out in a bowl before cooking add gradually in our cooking pot make sure not to mix this, just keep on adding the leaves at the top cover than adjust heat between low to medium let it cook for 30 minutes as you may notice, the leaves absorbs the steam making it soft check after 30 minutes the leaves are now soft because of the steam, we need to mix this a little bit we may now add our chili and pour the remaining "gata" the pork is now tender because it was thinly sliced so as this has simmered long enough here goes our chili and I will also be pouring the remaining "gata" this is absolutely easy to cook once "gata" is added, mix mix so the "gabi" leaves is cooked evenly as you may notice, the bottom part is already cooked and tender mix so you can re-arrange the top to be at the bottom part mix slowly and then we may now adjust heat to medium continue cooking until leaves absorbs the liquid but of course, we'll have to cover this I prefer the leaves to be flabby for "laing" the longer the cooking time, the better cover and continue cooking after 15 minutes this is how it will look like let us just mix this see, the leaves are now soft and flabby we are now almost done, I will just let liquid evaporate mix while reducing sauce we just have to make sure that nothing sticks at the bottom because we have already been cooking this for a while continue cooking, maybe another 10 minutes would do And after 10 minutes,we are done. This is how I like it. So creamy and the liquid had reduced. transfer to a serving bowl and serve this is now our Laing na Gabi Let's get some and have a taste Here you go, let us now have a taste of our Laing na Gabi Mmm~ So Delicious! rich, creamy and so tasty initially I can taste the coconut milk and its creaminess we haven't season with anything aside from onions, garlic and ginger yet this is still so flavorful this is really perfect with rice spiciness is just right let's give it another try Mmm~ spiciness is just right, used only 5 chilis add more chili if you would like you may also add long chili if you prefer For me, this recipe is really good. I hope you give it a try. Greetings to the following!
