How to Connect PEX to Copper Pipe: The Plumbers Secret- Episode 3

welcome hey thank you for checking out another one of my videos today I'm going to show you how to use PEX tubing for your water supplies in your kitchen and bath remodel hopefully when you come and check out this video it's only the beginning into a journey of maybe where you get into plumbing or you get into one of the trades and start making a lot of money or making a lot of friends either ones good so hey check out this video I'm gonna run through everything's real simple hope you like it enjoy man okay if you're checking out this video you've probably obviously heard of PEX tubing it's kind of the new-age in water supply line running using an expansion tool which is a lot easier to use so anyways check this out so the basics so you saw me soldering in the valve this is the copper half-inch copper to PEX adapter you can see it there nice shiny brass I love brass fittings aren't they pretty they're like gold so we have that we have a male adapter this is a half inch threaded male adapter that you could screw into any fixture adapts to PEX we have a female adapter same thing but the female version females are just prettier look at that we have two different types of adapters two copper so we have the one the one on my right slips over a fitting this one here on my left will slip into a fitting so if you have like a copper copper 90 degree or going into a sweat valve [Applause] this is one use if you want to go over copper pipe like this that's the one you use different things like this is a stub out so this would be for like an angle stop under a sink you would go pecs here this would come out you would put on your angle stop here for a toilet or for under a faucet we have a three quarter inch for the PEC stool and a one inch we use mostly half inch because that's what's what's in the houses this is a 90-degree L this is a coupler so any fittings that you find in copper you are gonna find in the pecs also let's see these bar so at every fitting you get one of these expansion rings so you take the pipe you put the expansion ring on and it can only go one way it has a built-in stop so it won't slide down the pipe tool [Music] you have your fitting slips right on you go down to the where it stops and that's it it shrinks back on there it's not fitting right there that's water tight it won't over come out so once you adapt from copper now check this out you can do all sorts of things with your pecs that copper won't do makes it a lot easier so let me just go let me do one more fitting here show you how we'll just go to one of these couplers that's a coupler I'm gonna get another piece of pipe this is just fun I could do this all day oops we got your expansion ring that goes on there one more time this tool right here goes for about 350 bucks with two batteries right there that's your connection so copper fitting okay so let me show you an another thing we can do some of you guys don't want to do any soldering at all and you can do this without soldering you have these push fittings you recognize these push fittings a kak a a sharkbite fitting you can use this instead if you want to convert your copper to PEX that's it that's connected and that's connected now you have a watertight connection there no soldering at all that's pretty cool huh so we're usually doing some soldering on the job anyway so I bring all my tools but if you didn't want to use it you could always use these sharkbite fittings and at the valves you know if you're putting in a shower mixer valve use one of these adapters or one of these adapters a male or a female one of them's gonna work so that's it man simple easy easy to do again thanks for checking out my videos I really appreciate it again click Subscribe if you can that helps motivate motivate me to make more videos and keep this thing rolling I'm having a lot of fun I hope you are too you know keep it fun man we're in here to build we're in here to to create things for other people what other what other job do you get to do that we're actually using your physical hands to create things and people pay us money for it so right on love you guys have a great day enjoy you
